   the website shows a lovely upstairs restaurant, so this is the reason i booked . However the restaurant upstairs was not open and we were seated in the bar downstairs. I feel the reason for this is because they are not busy enough to open it. Very disappointed as it was for a birthday celebration and i would never have booked if i had known. Also the starters came out with the main courses . We placed our order at the bar but still got charged 12.5% service .It clearly stated on the menu service charge is exempt on orders placed at the bar.

   After waiting for five minutes for two members of staff to finish their conversation before acknowledging our arrival, we were told online bookings made the same day don't count. Fortunately seating was available but this could be publicised on The Charlotte's website/on Open Table's booking page. Our food also arrived before our drinks. Food and atmosphere were both great so it is a shame that poor service let The Charlotte down.

   Even though I had booked a table through the app (directed here by the pub website) when i arrived, we were told we would have to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. When I asked about my reservation, I was told "the booking site is broken."

   Service was slow and we were late back to work. Soft drinks were very pricey! However the food was good and the lunch deal was good value.

   Nice food, good atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended for an informal night out.
