Disappointed after hearing such wonderful things about this restaurant. The food was very good. The building is lovely, but the service is not. It is very noisy and crowded. It is not a fine dining experience as many write ups would lead you to believe. I my opinion; If you like Abigail’s in Simsbury, you would like The Charles. If you prefer Milwright’s upstairs dining, you would not.

Excellent food. A diverse, very good drink list. Excellent service. It is a bit louder than I like it. However, otherwise highly recommended.

A great and varied menu, especially so many options for gluten-free. The food was delicious with generous portions and a higher level of sensational tastes.

We ordered oysters, popcorn chicken, black and blue brussels and scotch egg as appetizers. All four were good. File mignon, duck a l'orange and pork tournedos were our choices for main entries. All were excellent. Our waitress was superb, as well as a team which helped her. The music was nice and not laud. It was a very pleasant and smooth experience altogether. Highly recommend.
