   This was our second visit based on the fact that the first was excellent. However, it fell somewhat short in that my ribeye was liberally covered in salt and had to be returned, whereupon I waited so long that the other diners had almost finished their meal. Staff were apologetic and took off the service charge as a concession. We will return but readers should make sure staff know they do not want copious amounts of salt (I guess the chef smokes!)

   Had a wonderful Valentine’s dinner at The Chamberlayne. I’ve eaten there many times and the food and service is always top notch. A gem of a place.

   Had a lovely meal at The Chamberlayne for my birthday, the Sunday Roast was delicious, the service was excellent and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of the way to make the afternoon special. They phoned me to move the booking to the restaurant when I had accidentally booked the bar and then they reserved a table in the bar for our group so we could continue the celebrations when we had to give up the table. It is rare to find a place that has excellent food and service at a reasonable price.

   Really good food...especially the Chicken Pie and the Chicken Pate. The staff are really friendly and helpful. My husband left his credit card and it was returned to us the next day because the waitress remembered us. Very personal service. Thank you.

   The menu has a wide selection and there is a decent wine list. The food is of better quality than other gastro pubs in the area and the prices are comparable. The service is friendly and attentive.

   Great as always but I can't help but feel squeezed on price. 3 course Dinner for 2 plus a bottle of wine £135.

   We booked this table for Sunday Lunch, when we arrived at 3pm, we were told there wasn't any beef left, and no vegetables to go with the roast, which was disappointing, given we all wanted Beef for lunch. The bar man was snappy as he was understaffed, and only him serving, when we asked for a bloody Mary he missed half of the ingredients, which meant we had to keep going back to the bar to ask for them. The waiting staff were understaffed also, which meant waiting around for sides and sauces to arrive. When the bill arrived they had added various drinks and pots of gravy and Yorkshire puddings, these should come with the roasts, rather having to pay separately! The food was delicious, but I'm not sure I'd book a table again for a roast, as they just couldn't come with the amount of people.

    All was OK. Not the best pub in the area. Incorrect order handed over and no free drink while I had to wait an extra 15 mins on top of the 45 mins I had already waited.
