   Found through Google. The owner was the hostess. Very nice atmosphere but a bit crowded tables. Service and food we're very good. If we lived in Edinburgh it would be "on the rotation".

   Me and my boyfriend visited the Cellar Door for his birthday on a recent trip to Edinburgh, the food was excellent, the broccoli and cheese soup was gorgeous, steak was excellently cooked and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I have ever had, we both went away very full and happy! The service was brilliant all the waitresses were very attentive and very friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting the city!

   The Cellar Door was lovely. The food was excellent. The staff were lovely and very friendly. And the ambience of the restaurant made it a really memorable night. Thank you.

   I booked The Cellar Door based on the reviews on the Open Table site and my partner and I were not disappointed. A very busy little restaurant which is understandable given the location and the quality of the food. The service from the excellent staff is very good and it was nice to get a meal served hot and presented well. Would recommend a visit to anyone who likes good food. Did not have a sweet as to full from the starter and main dishes. Great value for money and we will definitely use the place again and take our friends with us.

   Great starters, main course and desert. It near to the museum and grey friars for sightseeing. Very helpful waitress to sort out the table for my baby. Thanks!

   An unprepossessing entrance and a clumsy flight of stairs down to the actual restaurant. But the room is bright, due to the large windows and judicious use of mirrors. Food is uncomplicated and well cooked. A business lunch of mussels followed by risotto: mussels excitingly colourful in the broth, the risotto rice just the right side of crunchy. Glass of sav blanc, affogato to finish. Nuff said

   We had been unable to get booked at a favourite restaurant so I went on line to find somewhere else. Discovered Cellar Door and thought we'd take a chance. Lucky! Delicious food, friendly, attentive staff and the bill was not excessive. We'll be back!

   We were visiting from the U.S. and looking for a wonderful place to celebrate completing the Edinbourgh marathon. I took a chance on the Cellar Door! What a perfect find! All six of us enjoyed our dinner. The staff was welcoming and warm. All six of us had different dinners and all of them were delicious. The toffee pudding was the best.

    Booked at the last minute for Friday night dinner and really glad we did! Great food, friendly service and nice atmosphere, will definitely go back.
