Situated down a quiet side street, on the corner of elegant St Peter’s Square, The Carpenter’s Arms is an independent nineteenth-century pub with a beautiful garden where the food is the star.

We focus on simple, beautifully cooked seasonal food. Our menu and Specials Board change daily: Simply cooked sustainable fish; British meats; delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes and tempting puddings to finish. Simple dishes, big flavours.

We are just as serious about good drink as we are about good food. Our well stocked bar helps keep the relaxed and convivial spirit of a local boozer very much alive.

We operate a rotating list of guest real ales, as well as world wines from just under £30 a bottle. We also serve the only cocktails worth filling the glass for – a negroni for lunch, a martini before dinner, an Old Fashioned when you need a stiff drink, a Margarita for when you want to pretend you’re on holiday and a Bloody Mary for the morning after.

The food at this pub is of a very high quality and the menu offers a lot of interesting choices with daily dishes. It’s very popular and booking is essential apart from early in the week. Highly recommended and would certainly visit again. £90 per head is a high price for a pub but it’s in London and the food is much better than most more expensive restaurants. It’s a treat rather than a regular at these prices but worth it.

Beautiful neighbourhood food with excellent food and great service. The interior is lovely and a very pretty garden. Would highly recommend it.

Good quality of food and generally ok service but very strange when servers twice tried to take my plate whilst I was still eating! Hope this was just a one-off occurence.

I felt sorry for the lone waitress who was serving the entire pub, though it wasn't full. I think she may have been quite new as she wasn't completely sure of all ingredients. We selected a great Negromaro wine at a reasonable £34 a bottle. The fish daily special was seared Tuna but it lacked vegetables in quantity but it left room for a heavier desert. At nearly £50 per head it wasn't the cheapest in the area. My companions were not keen to return.
