   Booked for special meal for friends who had travelled 60 miles. Not open at 1.00 for 1.15 booking and was told no food today. I had a confirmed booking which I showed I had a confirmation. Left very unhappy. Will never go again. Tried to speak to someone later on phone. I left 2 messages but ignored. What a way to run a business!!. One really angry person.

   Overall a very pleasant dining experience, nothing too much trouble for the staff who are very freindly. Excellent food which we all enjoyed. Keep up the good work we will definitely be back !

   Lovely place to meet up with family with view over the canal. Staff very helpful and friendly. No pressure to leave, we were there for several hours. We will be back again.

   Really lovely traditional English pub with fires and a lovely view of the Lancaster Canal.

   Food was good but service was very poor by one of the barmaids ,was quite rude and abrupt at times

   Apart from the OpenTable booking not getting to the place. We were looked after well and food was amazing. Service excellent and relaxed. Lived in the area 3 and a bit years now and feel we have been missing out. Will be back 👍

   We had a fantastic meal, the steaks were cooked to perfection and the service was second to none.

   Absolutely shocking experience. Ordered food and waited 45 minutes for a starter that would take no more than 15 minutes ordinarily. While we were entertaining our 13 month old baby throughout our extended wait, staff lied to us repeatedly on when the food would be served, as well as changing their minds on the availability of other items to us and other customers. We asked if the manager thought this was reasonable and were bluntly called liars. We witnessed several would be customers also leaving the establishment after poor service and extended waiting times for food (this was at 12.30 pm and the place was half empty!). One elderly lady waited 10 minutes for a menu, even after asking a member of staff for one who told her to go to the back of the room and get one herself as 'he couldn't'! We had driven for over an hour to get there and had a completely wasted journey (we have been a couple of years ago and had a nicer experience to be fair and that's why we went). The young staff seemed under a lot of pressure from the single (older) manager who was in the kitchen. Perhaps this led to the pathetic service and numerous lies received. It was an appalling experience and we will endeavour to inform as many people as possible, thanks to the manager's rudeness. DO NOT GO!

    We were seated overlooking the canal marina in what should have been a lovely spot. Unfortunately it was like a children's playground with children pushing past our chairs, shouting and playing with noisy toys. A little girl was singing and using the padded bench seats as a trampoline. Their parents seemed oblivious and were tapping on their phones and tablets. We asked to move to another table and were seated in a quieter spot which was much better although there was a television permanently on, albeit with the sound turned down, but which was distraction and underlined that the clientelle were definately MacDonalds or 'take the kids to the pub' folk. The staff were friendly and helpful and service was quite quick. The restaurant is also clean, comfortable and well furnished. The selection of food is limited and seemed to have deteriorated since our last visit. The selection was the predictable fish and chips, pies, sausage and the odd steak and although it was well presented and tasty, it was very unimaginative and the same old fare that is being churned out in every other pub grub outlet. If you're looking for something different , this is not the place, but if you want a filling meal and don't want to cook, the Canal Turn does it about as well as anywhere else. Maybe I'm just out of step with everyone else, but I won't be rushing back.
