The Cameron is the newest edition to the Ottawa Tennis Club that was established in 1881. The Belmont, a tiny Old Ottawa South haunt known for its inventive plates and cocktails have partnered up with the OTLBC to turn the club’s second floor into The Cameron, a neighbourhood hangout with a cottage-chic vibe and a club-friendly menu. The tennis club has always pushed the motto of “your cottage in the city” so they ran with that theme, taking out the old-school banquet chairs and tables and replacing them with picnic tables and and long benches. Picture a big, friendly camp mess hall — but with better food!

Slightly elevated pub style food in a very nice second floor heritage structure. Drinks good, service with enthusiastic young folk. Side Salad overdressed, making salad green wilt. Portions right for me; dining pal said theirs was small. Falafel bowl “best I’ve ever had!” According to one diner.

It was very good but we made a reservation for 5pm and when we arrived, we were told the bar and restaurant don’t open until 5:30. It would have been good to know this ahead so we didn’t have to wait 30 minutes when arriving.

The food and service were excellent. Sitting outside on a beautiful night watching the tennis was fabulous. An extra bonus was the live music which was terrific!

Excellent brunch, self-serve style. Staff was very friendly and hospitable. Would be a great spot to come back for a cocktail on a sunny afternoon.
