Schiopetto winery takes its name from its founder, Mario Schiopetto, who is considered to be the master of white wines and amongst the great producers of Italian wines. Mario was part of a group of producers who worked from the end of the 1960s and through the 1970s to improve and modernize the methods of Italian wine production (w/ Angelo Gaja, Piero Antinori etc). Since 2014 under the ownership of the Rotolo family natives to Friuli Venezie Giulia many generations back, who's commitment is to maintain intact Mario’s mission and productive philosophy for the sake of continuity. The Rotolo family are also the owners of Volpe Pasini winery, located in the heart of the DOC zone of the Colli Orientali of Friuli and built at the end of the sixteenth century, Volpe Pasini is one of the oldest wineries in North East Italy. During the 70’s along with other 'pioneering producers', Volpe Pasini carried Friulian winemaking into Italy and the world.
