Worst dining experience ever. Even with a reservation we had to insist on being seated 40 minutes later. The hostess was clueless and though the restaurant was fairly empty (no wonder) he wasn’t seating anyone. The chef offered a limited Valentine’s Day menu that did not even have a vegetarian or pescetarian 2nd course. I had to ask them to omit bacon and bacon dressing on a salad because French onion soup made with beef broth was the only other option. Basically I had spinach with a vinaigrette, nothing special there. My entree arrived with beet straws burnt beyond being edible. Unfortunately they were crumbled into the spinach and polenta, rendering them also inedible, so my entree was 3 scallops. They do not provide salt and pepper and everything we ate was under seasoned and bland. The dessert was awful. Honestly I was shocked when the bill arrived at $85 each before drinks. Don’t waste your money here. Briarwood used to be a special place but they will not be around much longer if they keep serving awful food and treat customers poorly. The only good thing to be said is that our server was excellent. I think he should find a better place to work, he’s too good for Briarwood.

Came here on Valentine’s Day. Didn’t get a table for an hour even with a reservation. After getting sat the silverware on our table was disgusting and not clean. Didn’t see a waiter for an hour not even to greet us or take drinks. After waiting 2 hours for service my date and I left. Terrible service here would not recomend to anyone.

Waited an hour past reservation to be seated. Long waits in between courses. Disappointing. Usually do not go out for Valentines, now I know why.

Had a reservation for 7 pm, arrived at 6:50 pm for Valentine’s Day. Ordered wine from the bar and waited. Other customers loudly complained about their wait time, which became justified as it took them until 7:45 pm to seat us, even with a reservation. Low staff, no attempt to explain the issue. Ended up Ubering to a Texas Roadhouse to get food. Glad I made those reservations weeks in advance for a memorable date. Overall, a waste of my time and money.

45+ min wait with a reservation. Terribly unorganized. This used to be a premier restaurant. Now it is a disappointment. It pains me to say it, but it should maybe skip all restaurant events at this point and stick with private events only, assuming it can do this well. Farewell Briarwood Inn.

We have eaten here several times, but this will be our last. The service was SLOW, food was good, but the whole experience was a costly exercise in patience.

It took 2.5 hours for Dinner. The waiter was really busy and appeared to have very little assistance. We did not get very much food for the price and finally had to ask for our desserts to go since we were tired of being there.

We have been going to the Briarwood for special occasions and sending gift cards for approx. 10 years. Until this experience it has always been a 5 star restaurant. Under the new direction of event center it isn't hardly a 1 star. They were very disorganized , food prep. was very slow. We had 4:30 pm reservation and never got seated until 4:45 and we were the 2nd couple to arrive. The first couple and us were skipped and others coming in were seated until I mentioned we had been waiting. The price listed for the meal was $80 and they charged $85. The waiter was very friendly, professional and working hard to get the food out but it was not ready. We did not
get finished until 7:15 pm and when we left no one was waiting. Usually the place is full and others waiting for the good service and excellant food. Very Very disappointed and has been taken of our list of places for any meal out alone special occasions.

We miss the Briarwood the way it used to be. We always came for special events and evenings out. Now, there are really no lovely restaurants on the west side of town. The appetizer tray was such fun and of course the food was wonderful. The room we dined in on Sunday felt rather cold, both in temperature and ambiance. We are sad.

Returned once again for Sunday brunch, thanks to a gift from a friend. The drive was lovely and the setting beautiful and cozy. The food was as good as we remembered it,with several new additions, and the service outstanding, thanks to our server, Kim. The Executive Chef, Kelly, came by our table and was warm and genuinely interested in our views on the menu. There have been some changes here, with more attention to special events, but the Sunday brunch is an excellent value and we are sure the same holds true for their special events on Valentine's Day and other holidays.

Valentine Sweetheart Tea: Not as good as expected. They were VERY slow in service, and not prepared to have guests try more than one tea flavor. They also did not anticipate dealing with food allergy issues. The menu said they would include sandwiches but NONE were on the tea service tray. Very odd flavors and choices of food items for most guests to enjoy, especially the little girls brought by parents or grandparents. The back room used for the tea service was very cold and devoid of décor for the occasion. We might have enjoyed the other part of the building with a fireplace better given that it was snowing outside. This was supposed to be a special treat for my 82 year old mother and it was disappointing. Had the food and décor been better, I would not have minded the price, but as it was we ate very little and so the price seemed too high. The best menu item was the fresh made cinnamon and blueberry scones which were AWESOME.

This was the only time we have had poor service and food at this restaurant. All our other visits were wonderful. This time, the service was slow and poor. We did not make it past the scones on the tea, but these were of very poor quality. The clotted cream looked like melting ice cream, the strawberry jam was a chunk with no strawberries in sight. And, the basket that should have had items for 4 persons only had food for 3. One of our party got tepid water for the tea. The wait staff seemed very anxious and hard pressed. There were excuses for everything that happened, not a good thing. We left at this point and will not return. I can't remember when we have ever done this at a restaurant.

our dish was salmon with spinach, etc The salmon was hands down the best I have eaten thus far Crisp on the outside but so creamy and moist on the inside, delicious. The greens were also very good with a mild sauce?? can't remember the name, breads and pastries were tasty, could have eaten more, didn't ask nor were they offered. Wait person was very amiable. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to another visit. this was my first visit, husband had been there several years earlier with his first wife (died in2013) we have been married 2 yrs.

Briarwood Inn is always excellent. We were there to have Christmas Eve dinner. We were a bit surprised that at 2:45 in the afternoon, it was brunch we were served. It was good. Next time as I make a reservation on a special occasion like Christmas I'll pay closer attention to which menu they are serving.

I understand they are a special occasion restaurant or an events place. Sorry about that.

Super disappointing. The service is amazing as always, however the food was very disappointing. The Briarwood has lost its touch for amazing food on this visit. I was served cold coffee the pastries were very ordinary and the prime rib was not so prime. It seems as if the idea of them just catering for special occasions has left them with that unremarkable catered food realm. So , so disappointing.

For 27 years the Briarwood had been the measure by which other fine dining was weighed. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Christmas was a magnificent event but is now done with as a sloppy afterthought. The Dickens event seemed more like an excuse to lure the unsuspecting for what was a sub standard buffet. Actually the only difference between the Sunday evening buffet at the Briarwood and Golden Corral was the lack of a chocolate fountain. Gone is the personal touch and the elegance of a generation past. It is obvious to us that the younger generation of ownership has decided to focus on cost/benefit rather than tradition. Granted the evening was advertised as a buffet, but still there is an expectation of excellence that was missing.
Needless to say we were greatly disappointed and would gladly have spent twice as much to have the Briarwood experience that we have come to expect. Gone is the tradition and flavor. Denver has lost a true gem of the culinary arts. The only bright spot was the service of one of the wait staff who took the time to attempt the attention and respect of old. It is truly a sad day. It goes without saying that we would not recommend dining at the Briarwood as there are far better experiences to enjoy in Denver.

Special occasion which was ruined by the fact that nowhere was it said that this was a buffet. We first dined at Briarwood 40 years ago and new the owner (Reed Pascoe) personally--many special occasions over the years. So disappointing to see it deteriorated.

We left before being served.

So disappointing! I have been going to the Briarwood for over 25 years. We plan a special family dinner for the Christmas holidays and love to hear the Dickens Carolers. The buffet was new to us, we have always ordered from the menu in years past. This was the worst selection for a buffet I have ever seen and certainly not worth $45.00. Everything was over cooked and cold. The prime rib was good but no horseradish or au jus. We had dirty plates sitting on our table through most of our meal. I can assure you we will not be back and we will certainly not recommend the Briarwood. How sad to see such a wonderful restaurant fall a part.

I was a long time fan of the Briarwood Inn and was very surprised when I heard they were changing to an event center. After my recent visit however I was very disappointed in the food and the service and would never consider them for any events. My reservations were for 4:00 PM, for the first seating of the Christmas buffet. At 3:45 PM the doors were still locked and we were told they were still setting up. We were not allowed to enter the building or wait inside or in the bar. After standing outside in the cold for quite some time and well after 4:00 PM we were finally let in and seated. The buffet was located in a side room that was very dark. The appetizer selections were very limited and because it was so dark you could not tell what most of it was. They had an adequate selection for the main courses, however the vegetables were cold and under cooked, the chicken and salmon were over cooked and very dry. However I did enjoy the prime rib and shrimp. The service was very slow and they obviously did not have enough servers to wait on the tables. Our group had to continually flag down passing servers to request needed items; drinks, butter, condiments, and even salt and pepper. The dinner plates were never cleared until we requested they be taken away and we than had to stack and pass the dishes to the server. The dessert trays were delivered prior to the dishes being cleared and the server never offered to refill our drinks or bring coffee, tea or after dinner beverages. Overall for the cost, the dinner and service was very disappointing. We did enjoy the Christmas carolers but the Christmas decorations appeared to be very old and in need of dusting/cleaning. Sadly this was my last visit to the Briarwood Inn.

The food was very innovative and the presentation was outstanding. It was served on warm plates to keep the food warm while we dinned. It's a place to go for special occasions. There is a good amount of room between tables and dinners are not packed together like cattle in a cattle car. Very elegant dinning rooms. We will be returning again.

I really wanted the Briarwood's December Afternoon Tea to be wonderful. I've been to this restaurant many times before it was changed to an events venue this fall. It was always one of my favorite places in the Denver Metro area.
This past Saturday I went with a friend for the tea. The venue was decorated for the holidays and lovely as usual and our server was very nice. However, the food was not good at all.
The scones were overcooked and cold. The fruit and soup were only fair, the chocolate dessert was edible, but all the other items served on the 3-tiered tray were poorly displayed and tasted awful. It was a disappointment and not at all worth the $42 cost!! Such a shame!

Worst Tea I have ever experienced at the Briarwood and I have been there many times. I asked for a table easy for handicap. They gave a soft chair that my dining partner could not sit in. The tea was bitter after the 1st cup and this was true for two separate pots of tea. Soup was cold. Sandwiches and desserts were underwhelming. Wait staff did not speak about anything being served. Save your $90 for 2 for holiday tea and go somewhere else. Sent same info to new owners with no response. I will never go back for tea (or any special event) at the Briarwood.
