So sad to see you go! Thanks for many great meals!
The service was laughably bad for a “prix fixe” New Year’s Eve menu. Low points:
Being served soup without spoon
Being served a steak with no steak knife
The waitress pouring chocolate sauce onto my wife’s profiteroles and also the table and her booth seat! (She was in the restroom)
No towels available in restroom — some dirty ones on the floor though
Our waiter doubled as the bartender who left halfway through the dinner service
My food (mushroom soup, rabbit, banana upside down cake) was actually fine... though the rabbit was cooked such that if it were pulled pork I’d not be surprised.
But my low rating for the food is really everyone else at my table (beef? small and overdone. Amuse Bouche and profiteroles? Stale pastry. Etc)
It was a ripoff and a terrible experience and left me embarrassed for having booked it for our group.
Avoid this dump like the plague.
The New Year's Eve dinner had some gems -- the Rabbit Cadeau and the Truffle mushroom soup. However, the profiteroles were dry (we often have them at the Chez Nous where they are absolutely gorgeous), the risotto was watery, and no coffee or espresso was included with dessert. Overall, for $85 per person, the dinner was definitely overpriced. The location is great and service very friendly, so we will try their a la carte menu to see if it fares better.
This was my second time to Bonneville and was very excited about the NYE menu. It was just my boyfriend and I. Our reservation was at 7:30. We had a very wobbly high top table. The service was very slow. I watched my wine sit at the bar for at least 10 minutes, before the waiter finally brought it over. At 9:15, we finally had to just get our check and not get our dessert because we had a show to go to. The waiter didn’t even offer to reduce our bill. I also overheard him telling the table near us that the restaurant had been having issues for a while and that they were short staffed last night. I rarely complain, but on this one night... especially with a pre fix menu, there is no reason that the restaurant should not have been prepared. Very bummed about our experience.
Overall good experience. Only complaint being that the waiter didn’t know allergy information, then assured us the meal would be safe from an allergen when it was not.
Food was delicious and with a real individual plate feel. Quiet space. Needs better decorating. But food is truly special.
Service and food were really good. Nice portion sizes and great cocktails. We sat outside and very much enjoyed watching the world go by.
Wonderful food and service.
Beef stroganoff on handmade spaetzle was divine!
our waiter was very knowledgeable and full of fun tips for dinner. We really enjoyed it.
This is the first time in my life I have been told that a restaurant could not (would not) accommodate my dietary restrictions. I asked about changing some of the ingredients of the dishes I was interested in and the waiter told me that this was not possible as it would diminish the overall taste of the dish. I'm not sure if it was laziness on the waiter's part or arrogance on the chef's part, but being unwilling to cater to a guests dietary restrictions is unacceptable to me. Perhaps I am not the only one to have an experience such as this, which would explain why the restaurant only had three tables seated during Saturday dinner service. I would avoid this place at all costs. There are way too many high quality, accommodating restaurants in downtown Austin for this place to continue operating they way they currently do.
Food was fantastic
Good food, small portions
Fabulous food and impeccable service. Traditional brunch foods with a creative twist.
The food was perfectly cooked!!! The food was hot and seasoned perfectly. This restaurant does everything right.
Loved the flavors and craftsmanship of each dish! Great dining experience!
It is always a hard choice between this and the pop-over eggs benny and the lamb pastrami reuben. The reuben won this time - it is out of this world. I have had most everything else on the menu, but always come back to one of these two. You don't often think of desert with brunch, but, save the best for last -- the blueberry muffin. They call it "The Best Blueberry Muffin You've Ever Eaten" -- a name that does not exaggerate. This thing is packed with blueberries! The perfect end to a wonderful brunch -- my wife and I never leave brunch without at least splitting one of these muffins.
Not much people in this restaurant and we now can understand why it was so easy to book last minute Open Table on a Friday Night downtown Austin!
Ask prior ordering something on the menu if they really got it in the kitchen....For me :2 items missing Gougeres and Sea Scallops.
About the food: good taste but horrible plating for the price. Polenta was soaked in the sauce and completely melting. Desert Pudding :no presentation.as well
Please just do not claim that you have a French Flair or I do not remember what is the cooking and serving in my country. Not even a piece of bread for the sauce....
The food was amazing. Wish I could have ordered everything on the menu. Service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and informative about things to do in Austin. Great experience.
Underrated brilliance! One of the best restaurants in town!!! Thank you for another memorable evening.
Delicious, creative scallop dish, lovely Austrian Rosé, attentive service from Sam and a great location. Always a favorite!
Their pork chop entree is one of the most balanced and unique meals in town. I love it!
Your service has been way too slow the last two times. Restaurant was a third full, and it too 10 minutes for drinks and 20 for appetizers, then another 15 for main course.
This place is a "hidden" gem- right close to many great restaurants, but yet off the beaten path by a block. Our meal was great, and the place was fairly empty after a big graduation party left. The lamb shank was perfectly prepared. The wine list, though small, has some good choices that complement the menu items well. I can't wait to go back for a Sunday Brunch- that menu looks great also!
We sat outside on the patio. The server was attentive. The food was amazing! We really enjoyed the bacon tater tots.
Excellent food and service. Really liked the Ploughman's Platter appetizer. Wine was nicely paired with the entree - one pork chop and one smoked trout. The Sticky toffee desert with decaf coffee topped the meal off nicely.
Mother’s Day brinch
WOW! First we started our Mother’s Day Brunch with a carafe of mimosas and the Homemade Pop Tart, Popovers, and the Pecan Sticky Bun. Heaven. All three were complete Heaven!! We had the Steak & Eggs, Breakfast Pizza, Goat Cheese and Heirloom Tomato Tart and the Chipotle Lime Chicken Hash. Each dish had unique flavors and presentation and were abundantly flavorful. Our server was attentive, funny and had great suggestions! We will definitely be back!!!!
Mother’s Day disappointment
Mistake to book
Have been patron for some years so ‘depressing to pay for such dreadful experience
Great food. Poor service. Very slow. We asked in advance to expedite only one of our meals for a guest who had to leave to catch a flight and nothing was done. She had to cancel her order and leave without food.
We loved our visit there. It was all about the service and the desserts. The appetizers were great as well. We would love to go to brunch too, heard it’s amazing
The staff was super friendly and attentive and made us feel so special. Unfortunately the Waygu ribeye was all gristle and almost inedible. But they comped us and were so nice. Overall we had a wonderful time and everything else was really delicious.
Creative, inventive menu and excellent execution! I had seared scallops on a crispy rice bed with grapefruit nage -- for the second time! It was delicious. My husband had the Wagyu beef stroganoff. The wine selection is lovely and the atmosphere modern, welcoming and refreshingly quiet such that we could have delightful conversation over dinner. Our server Sam was attentive and took great care of us. We'll be back!
It was a Sunday evening and my husband and I were the only guests at the restaurant. Food was good but not exceptional for the price. Ambiance was cute but suffered for lack of other patrons.
Great brunch. Very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back!
Excellent waitstaff which is a rare thing in Austin. Food was very good and desserts were the best part of the meal.
Bœuf viande dur et coriace
We only had dessert both times we visited. But they were outstanding! I heard from a friend that their Happy Hour is also fantastic but we didn't get to try it.
