We finally gave this restaurant another chance as the service reverted to a version of pre Covid. The service was not good. One diner’s dinner was brought out well before the other three diners, despite asking the server about correct pacing. Requests for drinks, needed items were never delivered. The views are wasted on a sub par service that is consistently lacking. - OT

Have been going to the boathouse for years. Hadn’t been in awhile for various reasons. They have instituted a mandatory 20% fee to the bill. I am all for tipping but I tip based on service. They have a placard explaining why there is a fee. They say their service staff is worth more than the $2.39 they are making plus tips. If this is correct, then why doesn’t the restaurant or managing company pay them what they are worth? Why is it up to me, the customer, to pay that? I may go back for drinks but probably not to dine any time soon. - DT

Orders was wrong, waited way to long for drinks, pizzas are covered halfway in toppings so you get half a pizza basically, calamari was great , oyster was great. Had to ask multiple times for things needed like Sal pepper hot sauce, boxes for food, drinks were bad especially the margaritas. Had to ask where the glass of wine was that we ordered after 22min. Awesome setting just a pity it's not that well managed.... - OT

I wanted to LOVE it. I wanted to be swept away with the view and the food. 3+ hours from order until food hit the table, neither steak cooked correctly and I just can't give this place my recommendation. They have a weird, outdated 20% service charge on all orders, and some propaganda about the tipped minimum wage on the tables. Here's a thought, if you're going to up charge me 20% on everything....Just mark up your menu 20% and be done with it, don't make a lame excuse about server equality. Our server (Ciara) was amazing, but the kitchen was awful. Maybe it was an off night. Maybe it was an anomaly. Not sure I'll give them a chance again, if I do, I'll update here. - H

We had a 5:30 reservation and arrived 15 minutes early and were told we had to wait, but a similar sized party arrived with no reservation and were seated immediately. When we were seated, we were told by the wait staff that the service was "hybrid" - part smart phone, part wait staff. "Hybrid" must be a new way of saying terrible. Our appetizer was ordered from the waitress, and came 15 minutes after a salad that was ordered later via the app. All of our entrees came out at different times - the last at least 15 minutes after the 1st. So, while one of us had warm food the other 4 did not. The scallops with my Broiled Seafood Platter were burnt on one side and nearly burnt on the other. After I flagged down our waitress, I pointed out the scallops to her and she went to get a manager. He offered to replace them with new scallops - that were fine when they arrived. I had to flag down the waitress again just to get a Coke for my wife. The bill was incorrect on the app so I had to pay part of it through the app and part of it directly to the waitress. It is good thing for the waitress that this restaurant adds 20+% service fee to all bills to better pay the staff, as tips recieved might not be as generous for the service received. Overall the food that wasn't burnt was average and the service was horrendous. I normally do not review restaurants unless they are very good, but this experience was bad enough to encourage me to go against my norm. - OT

Lovely sunset as always. We were seated outdoors promptly at our reservation time. The food was decent but one chicken entree was tough. The service was a slight issue. You can order items through your phone or with the waitress and at times things came out very slowly or had to remind the waitress. I don’t think they have a good system for it yet. The server was pleasant. Overall a decent experience as always. - NV

Krist was a great server but had a lot of big tables so she was stretched. We have been coming here for 15 years and the quality of the food has really gone down. We don’t order steak anymore. Big bar with a deck in the middle of summer and you were out of many things. Krissy was the best part of the evening. - V

My husbands Filet was ordered Medium Well to Well. It came to the table the first time medium and when sent back to redo again coming back out the same. The manager and server were awesome. The Manager made it right once my husband ordered a different dish. It was my husband birthday celebration. Thanks Manage and Jack for all you did. Jean Williams - AP

I’ve been here twice in the last two weeks. The person bringing you to the table tells you to use the app to order, then the wait staff tells you differently after the order has already been sent. Both times our appetizers didn’t arrive and we had to ask for them, long wait for food, a lot of confusion. I was kinda disappointed Sunday that many of the food options were not available as they were serving brunch. Also chose standard seating, thought j was choosing outdoor, ended up indoor. A little disappointed as Sunday was my birthday dinner. The view is gorgeous though. - KW

I took my mother for an early dinner - 5p. We sat outside and enjoyed a stunning view of the reservoir. The host who seated us was super kind, helpful, and courteous, and the wait staff was diverse and attentive. We both ordered the shrimp tacos, which I would recommend to any and everyone. The only thing about which I could offer constructive feedback is the ordering process. It has changed such that patrons are required to access the menu by scanning a QR Code. This was fine for me. I own a smart phone and can read small print. However, this was not so convenient for my mother, who did not have her smart phone with her and who is of advanced aged and not super technologically savvy. I had to read the menu to her while viewing it on my phone; and with her dietary restrictions and challenges with her memory, this was not the smoothest of transactions. It also brought to our attention by our waitress (after I asked) that there were food items available at the restaurant (for example, green beans) that are not shown on the digital menu. So, to order the green beans, we ordered creamed spinach and then noted in the comments "No spinach. Substitute green beans." This worked to get the green beans to the table, but this process was terribly inefficient. I would suggest, first, to update the digital menu to reflect all food items that are available to order; and then sure. Keep the QR code option - because, I can see how it creates efficiencies for the business and its patrons. However, there should be some printed menus laying around so that everyone regardless of age or disability, has convenient access and can order independently and with ease. - C

Came here for dinner before my milestone birthday, after my daughter’s lacrosse tournament. The food was absolutely delicious. The online ordering and reliance on technology was a bit of a pain, but the servers helped us out. Special shout out to the manager, James, who checked in on us a number of times and made sure we were taken care of. He went above and beyond and is one of the reasons we will return. - SB

This was my 3rd time eating here and it was great the 1st 2 times but last nights dinner was just "okay" nothing to write home about. For the pricing of the meals and drinks the servers should be better prepared to serve at that caliber. It was definitely not the Anniversary dinner I'd hoped. - WW

We had dinner at The Boathouse at Sunday Park on Sunday, July 3. It was an excellent experience. Our reservation was for 6:00 pm and we arrived at 6:00 and were seated immediately. Our server was Kelly and she was great; she was friendly, attentive, and helpful. We ordered the Salmon and the Chicken Picatta and both were cooked well and was delicious. We were served our appetizers and our entrees in a timely manner. We did not have to wait for anything. We enjoyed the water side seating and after dinner, we enjoyed the walk around the water and watching the sun go down. It was great! - K

Went for late afternoon dinner. I still prefer interacting with a Live server when ordering, rather than scanning codes with my phone. Perhaps I should note, I'm old. That said, our server. Savannah, was wonderfully attentive. helpful, with plenty of helpful input. Food was great, timing was right, never felt rushed. Left wondering why I hadn't come here more often. A good day. - JH

We did not care for the restaurant's reliance on computer technology for ordering beverages and food; we and our guests found it to be a significant diversion and detraction from our dining experience. The server was gracious and very helpful, but if we had been able to give her our orders, the process would have been both faster and more pleasant. The food was good but not great; our entree and sides were not hot when served. Even when our server graciously and quickly replaced the room temperature sides, the replacements were little better. Overall, we were disappointed and will not likely return. - OT

We love The Boathouse. We do. It is a beautiful location with a wonderful view across the lake. The people are great. That said, I am not a huge fan of ordering via our phones vs with assistance of typical wait staff. And the furniture (tables, chairs) could really be updated. Boathouse has the potential to be a special place but it seems to prefer being an everyday casual neighborhood place—which is great, it just seems like the location could support a more ambitious establishment. - OT

It was okay, definitely not worth the pay but the food was good. Little ridiculous we had to pay to have shrimp added to shrimp scampi. And the online ordering was not something I enjoyed and then proceeded to have to give a tip. Even though the server only saw us a few times and didn’t even give us our food. Over all 3/5 - OT

Our food was cooked well, but you could tell it sat under warming lamps for a while... edges of the pasta were dried out and shrimp and grits had a dry film over the top.... it had just sat for a while, presumably while the rest of our order was finishing? Servers were attentive, but I get the impression they are still working with their ordering system to time food delivery correctly.... the time between placing the order and getting food on the table seemed oddly long.
