The Boathouse at Sunday Park has been our favorite restaurant for years with great ambiance, food and excellent wait staff that always made our visits enjoyable. Tonight was a stark departure from our prior experiences. Their new cell phone ordering system is ridiculous and completely ruined our highly anticipated celebratory night out. The ordering via an app left us confused, stressed and angry. Side dishes came out before entrees, the bill was incorrect, they had difficulty accepting gift cards, ordering was difficult, impersonal and it was very complicated to just figure out how to get a drink. Paid $300 and frankly felt like we were ordering something from Amazon...add to cart and wait it might be delivered. There was little human interaction or ability to discuss menu items with the ever changing and overstretched wait staff who seemed just as perturbed as we were with the stupid ordering process. Whoever decided to use this phone based system needs to rethink this decision, there were at least two other tables next to us that were just as frustrated. One summed it up perfectly when he said "this just sucks"! Our evening was not a restful enjoyable dining experience it was very disappointing and we will seriously have to consider if we will ever come back. By the way please provide patrons with real menus...it won't ruin the frigin rain forests or increase global warming.

Great atmosphere and very nice servers. Doing everything on the app sometimes begs the question of why have servers so they should throttle that back a little. The menu is good but for the price it didn’t wow like it probably should have. We will go back for a special occasion.

The food was a bit pricey for the quality. Not a fan of the self-serve ordering with 20% built-in gratuity.

The service and food was great. Actually better than we remember pre-covid.
The electronic ordering took some getting used to. We could not find the detailed descriptions of certain menu items on the app, but the servers we able to help us. My 88 year father-in law could not navigate this well. Otherwise, the experience was great.

Wonderful evening. Lobster and crab cakes were delicious. Fresh oysters were very small. Could be the time of the year! Great service. Love the contactless ordering and payment system. For service, there was a button on the table to tap. Wonderful, uninterrupted conversations! Will definitely go again.

Absurd surcharges, inattentive staff and sub-par (soggy & cold) food.

Food was just “ok”. You don’t even have a waitress! You place the order yourself and pay an automatic 20% gratuity with their contactless system. Very disappointing for fine dining. It felt like I was making a pick up order.

While we enjoyed our meal yesterday for Father’s Day, we found the ordering experience to be vary laborious for such a pricey meal. It was not relaxing to order on our phones.

Great food with a great view - the ducks quacking got slightly annoying by the end of the night, but nothing to blame on the restaurant. Great service and will definitely be back!

The occasion was Father’s Day. Overall everyone enjoyed their food except for myself. I ordered the shrimp & grits. The entree was mostly shrimp & roux with hardly no grits. To soupy & not filling at all. I’d go back, but will not order that again.

Kiosk type ordering system limits server attentiveness and customer flexibility.

We were thoroughly disappointed in this dining experience. The fact that everything is done through a QR code and is paperless completely took away from the entire experience as a whole. It was confusing and annoying to deal with. We were there to treat our dad to a nice dinner and it felt like the entire evening focused around dealing and/or complaining about the disappointment in the lack of service. I called ahead of time to request my credit card be put on file so there was no question of my parents feelings like they had to pay, but I was told that is not possible with the new paperless set-up and exactly what I didn't want to happen did- we were left with my parents insisting they pay for themselves due to ordering off your own phone. We saw our waiter maybe 2 times total and though it is not their choice to operate their tables in this way ultimately their tips are affected by it all. The food was terrible and not what we remembered from past experiences. I paid $5 dollars as an up-charge to get the truffle fries with my meal only to find out your version of truffle fries is sprinkling a tiny bit of parmesan cheese over regular fries. They tasted exactly like my husband's regular fries. We spent well over $200 for our entire meal and it was most definitely our worst dining experience spent altogether yet. I'm extremely disappointed.

The paperless system is fine. But placing your own order , having to time your own appetizer by placing several orders, etc is not a friendly process for those that need assistance such as older patrons. The mandatory 20% tip is not appropriate for less service than is customary at other restaurants. There is no staff to recommend items, answer questions, etc. no one checks in regularly because customers are placing their order and paying for their check on their own The restaurant should pay staff - servers , bussers, bartenders, hosts , etc. a better wage and allow diners to tip as warranted. A police officer guides parking to the correct areas rather than restaurant staff. It’s lacking the warmth many people enjoy in a dining experience. As a consumer the 20% comes across as a way to increase profits while offering less.

The online ordering system has you doing it all. It takes away from the conversation at the table. With this system you are on the phone way to much to place an order.
