Great evening! Food, sunset, and serve was perfect!
Wonderful food and views, including seeing the beautiful wedding going on.
Food excellent. Only thing that was not good was the strawberry daiquiri. It was snow cone ice with strawberry syrup swirled into it. Tasted more like a margarita. Very tart. Not what I expected.
Great for sunset!
Loved the layout! The wood seemed to make it more cozy inside. The staff was wonderful in accommodating my bad hip! Then, there was the food, which was incredible. I had the lobster and filet, both cooked perfectly. I also ordered the crabcake. I've tried crabcake at many restaurants but have never found one worth finishing. The Boathouse crabcake was superb! So tender, not dry and gaggy and filled with filler! It actually had Crab in it! ;-) We will certainly be going back!
The food was terrific, even better than usual. I would be careful next time to not get the same waitress. Although her service was great, we were having date night and would have preferred less interruptions. We also didn’t enjoy hearing the story of her life in such long, drawn out detail which interfered with our evening.
This Boathouse location is great; the decorations and environment are timeless and pleasant. The view on the reservoir is awesome, especially at sunset during dinner. The food is pricey but very good. The menu could stand to be bigger, and there aren't very many vegetarian options so I would not recommend it for a party with any vegetarians. I had the featured dish of the night which was a spicy jumbo shrimp dish; very spicy and flavorful and I loved it. The waitress was very personable and accommodating made good suggestions. The manager stopped by the table and he was very friendly as well. Good spot for a nicer dinner, good place for a date
Fabulous as always!!! Atmosphere and food were top notch. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Drinks were good however there is definitely a need for 2 bar tenders. It was extremely busy around 6:30.
Great family brunch yesterday! Food was very delicious.
Great experience. Our server was amazing - knew the dishes very well, asked about food allergies and was very pleasant. The food was great and we really liked the vibe.
After looking forward to a nice birthday dinner in a new place, we could hardly talk because the music was to loud. The salad had VERY little dressing, and the lobster was tough... Our server was very pleasant and attentive.
Great food. Server was exceptional. Love the view. Sunset over the water was gorgeous.
Always have a great time at the Boathouse! We have celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries here. Did try the one in Hopewell, which is much closer to us, live in Petersburg but there's something on the outside that my husband & I are allergic to. Love the view much better at Sunday Park.
The Boathouse was recommended to me by a work colleague and I decided to take my wife on a dinner date. It was just as was recommended, great food, great ambiance, excellent service and wonderful waterfront views at night. I give it a 5star rating and cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend the Boathouse to all my friends.
We went to the boathouse for their Sunday brunch. The food was awesome and our waitress Emily was awesome at her job and made us feeling welcomed.
Beautiful evening with amazing food.
We requested an outdoor table, as this was our main reason to dine at this location. All resposnes on-line were positive. We when arrived, they stated that they could not seat us outdoors. They stated that they cannot guarantee outdoor seating...but never mentioned in the reservatioin stages (which had numerous openings for time slots).
We were then seated right at the front door next to lobster tank and the bar. We ordered drinks from the bar. Nealry 20 minutes later we asked about our drinks. The waitress stated the "bar was backed up." Drinks finely arrived...and watered down due to ice had melted (bar is backed up or waitress didn't keep an eye out???).
Half of table ordered filets (3), half ordered personal pizzas (2). When food arrived nealry 25 minutes later, the pizzas were served virtually cold. Filets were good....but not served with the mixed vegtables as advertised.
Ordered 2nd round of drinks....with exact same results. Foolish us.
We love the outdoor atmosphere and the beauty of the lake, but we will be truly hesitatnt to book another meal at this location of the Boathouse.
We had to wait to be seated 1 hour and we had reservations. It appeared that they forgot about use and was seating others who had just walked up. It was very up setting.
Had Birthday Dinner for my Wife and suprised her when our Daughter's family came to join us. Beautiful evening and the Food and Weather was Fantastic
the food here was really great. the party i was with loved everything.
My husband and I had a fabulous experience. Our waiter My’Sean was very knowledgeable. We will definitely be returning!!!
As usual the Boathouse at Sunday Park does not disappoint. Our server was wonderful and accommodated our slow paced meal. Even though it’s sprinkled, the deck is always the place to be and our server graciously moved us to a table covered by an umbrella. And, for the first time, we tried some signature cocktails and the Orange Crush was delicious. I don’t know what do you do differently to the breading on their calamari but it is the best fried calamari I’ve ever had. I get it every time. If you have never gone, go have a leisurely meal on the deck at the Boathouse.
Wait staff great. Food delicious. Ambiance.
Large variety of food for dinner. Will go again!
Our waiter was amazing!! He really did an amazing job with our table for the porposal for my gf
Service was great. Waffle an omelette bar were very good but it would have been nice to have some small plates for the butter and the jam. Otherwise everything was great.
“The food was great, beautiful restaurant, and I loved the water view!”
We had excellent scallops meal and it was a beautiful evening, it began to rain and we were promptly moved inside.
Wa disappointed that only 3 scallops were served and wasn't told this. I was sharing with my elderly Mother. She ordered soup. I would have liked to know. $30. for 3 scallops is outrageous!
Great food and outstanding service at the Sunday Park Boathouse. Volume of food for the price was much lacking.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. All five seafood entrees we ordered were fresh and delicious—couldn’t have been tastier. Water views are beautiful. Our server Emily was extremely attentive.
A beautiful evening on lake ended with heavy rainstorm handled with aplomb by staff. Rockfish disappointed with very average, somewhat tasteless recipe & presentation. Bread pudding dessert to finish added some excitement overall.
Great atmosphere, delicious drinks and food, and beautiful sunsets.
Excellent brunch menu with a gorgeous view of the Swift Creek Reservoir.
The Boathouse at Sunday Park is great for a number of things. The food is almost always top notch. Although on the pricier side as far as upscale casual restaurants go, the food is usually very good and worth the money; the value is there. The view, atmosphere and setting is phenomenal. The outside bar is usually a great time.
With that said, it definitely has some opportunities. First and most egregious is the hostess staff. Without exception, the last 5 times we have been here, there has been some issues with the hostess staff. One time they can't figure out how to ring up a carry-out order; another time they couldn't find our reservation (took them 10 minutes to find the name Clark on a res list); and the last time they took 25 minutes to seat us at our table for a reservation (11:30 reservation finally sat at 11:55). They are usually a group of young gals who don't seem to be appropriately trained. Secondly, the service is 100% hit or 100% miss. A few of the servers are fantastic, well-trained, friendly and prompt. Then a number of them seem to be very green, inattentive and quite awkward.
Overall, it's a good spot but it seems like every time we go we end up with another bad experience to talk about in terms of overall service and it's becoming less and less one of our main spots. Worth a visit but be prepared to deal with some severely undertrained service employees.
They charge for coffee refills. Poor management practice.
It was raining when we went - but would love to come back when it was beautiful. Very hard to find - we were almost 20 minutes late for our reservation, because there is only one tiny sign. If you don't know where it is - well, good luck! The restaurant seemed to understand - didn't scold us - and gave us a great table by a window overlooking the lake.
The food was absolutely delicious. Lots of choice - even though the menu is not large. Enjoyed scallops with bernaise. The sauce, unfortunately was melted - which it should never be - but still quite tasty. Everyone else also enjoyed their meals - and the waiter - was wonderful!!
After making the reservation, they actually called me to ask if there were any special needs - physical or food wise - which they could accommodate. Also, wanted to know if we were from out of town or new customers - as well as if we were celebrating anything special. When we got there, the waiter knew ALL of this - including that a member of our party had a food allergy! A bit creepy - but, also, a bit nice... I couldn't decide. But we were well taken care of and it was worth the trip.
One meal was good but the other was only a little decent so for $30+ per plate, we expected better and more food. The less good plate was the size of an appetizer for a single person. Our waitress was fantastic.
The Boathouse is always an amazing experience for my family and I! I look forward to dining there in the near future.
The location is nice but the food is far too expensive and just okay. Not really kid friendly.
Always a delight dining on the outdoor patio at The Boathouse Sunday Park!
