In defense. It’s covid season. I’m not a fan of inflated prices. Nor am I a fan of how they are handling service during this period. I understand being safe but I’m not understanding of seemingly inflated pricing. I wouldn’t go back until we have gotten through this period.

Ordering your meal with your iPhone is very intimidating for older folks , many of whom are technology challenged. We were assured we could order from a printed menu. This did not happen as our waiter started immediately with the scan. After some verbal exchanges we were able to order and pay in the traditional old way. The food was excellent!

All ordering is done online via an app. The staff bring food and drinks when you place the order online. Despite this, the restaurant charges 20% service fee on top of high prices.

Beautiful location, but not worth the outrageously priced deep fried/microwaved food choices.

Well - must say that the day in late November was picture perfect. Sitting next to the beautiful lake and soaking in the late fall sunshine could not be beat. My wife and I share a dozen oysters (wonderful) and then both had wedge salads. My only complaint would be "more blue cheese" and I admit that I am an addict.

We will return in happier times to sit inside the wonderful dining area and bar - such nice wood and boating relics.

Thank you Boat House - we live in DC but our daughter and family are moving to Chester.

When ordering food, appetizers should be served before the main course. Not at the same time. There wasn't many people in the restaurant. The waitress should of checked on the table. The worker's kept their heads down instead of looking around. Had to wave like a chicken on fire to get anyone's attention.

Eating at the boathouse is always a treat. Whether you're hungry for a steak or pizza and clam chowder, you will be happy & full when you leave. Everything on the menu is amazing.

Service and food was superb! We ordered Lobster, Braised Beef Ribs and Three Cheese Lobster Trio, with Wedge Salads and New England Clam Chowder. Everything was absolutely scrumptious!! Billy & Thomas were exceptional servers, extremely delightful!!

Staff were very nice, loved that they offer you a blanket. Drinks were good, crab artichoke dip was so good. My food was dry and I don’t think it was worth it’s price.

Did not realize prior to arrival that menus and ordering was online. I did not have my iPad so that I could do either activity. I do not have an iPhone. Fortunately, my friend allowed me to order on her phone. It was a struggle, but with help from Boathouse staff, we were able to view a menu and order our food. I appreciate that guidelines are in place to better protect patrons, but it would have been nice to know before arrival.

We were greeted kindly by the hostess who checked to be sure we still wanted to be seated outside and noted we were celebrating a birthday. We had a lovely view of the lake on a beautiful day. To see a menu, you must scan a barcode with your phone. It's an ordering app, meaning in to read menu descriptions, you must open them, go back, and keep going. Then you place your order and pay for it. There is no choice but to include at least a 20% tip right then. While we always (except in very unusual circumstances) give a 20% tip (or more), there’s something about being asked to do it in advance when dining at a restaurant. We understand this is a safety measure due to Covid.
We started with the calamari. It was a very large serving and was perfectly cooked. We also shared the Harvest salad. The greens were fresh and plentiful, and the vinaigrette was tasty. It should be noted there is very little gorgonzola and so little bacon that I actually had to point out the tiny morsels to my husband. It was still good.
Unfortunately, we both ordered Chicken Chesapeake, described as a chicken breast with lump crab, Gruyere cheese, and Edwards country ham in a sherry cream, with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The chicken was overcooked, so it was tough. While the sauce, ham, and cheese were delicious, we were disappointed to find little crab. Perhaps, a teaspoon, if that. The potatoes were excellent, the asparagus was tough and chewy.
We had crème brulee for dessert. The portion was larger than most places and it was very good. As we were celebrating a birthday, ice cream was added for my husband & our server included a handmade birthday card. A nice touch!
The service was excellent. Our server, Cadence, was friendly, polite & professional. The view is lovely and the outdoor heaters will allow diners to enjoy sitting outside as it grows colder. We enjoyed watching a variety of ducks on the water. We may return, but would order differently.

Page, the captain of waitstaff, was exceptional. So patient with our technical skills (lack there of). Day was wonderful and we really enjoyed being out on the deck.

Beautiful views. Food was okay at best. Not much flavor. With the contactless ordering, our parties food all came out at different times. Not just a few minutes apart but 15min in between the first order and last order even though we all placed orders at the same time.

I usually don’t write reviews! This is Covid! The view and sunset always brings us back. Caesar salad with grilled salmon, lacking dressing. Husband had salmon special! Both salmon portions were small. Overall the food was just ok. Any other time 4-5 stars. Also limited menu, no zucchini fritters as it’s a seasonal item. I will still return to the BH!

Wonderful venue - we always love sitting outside by the water but this time we were right out in the direct sunlight and were dining with two small children. We were all melting!! I think you need some form of shade - umbrellas or the like.

Automatic 20% added. Sit down and takes 10 minutes to work the app and get an order in. Hate not being able to enjoy the dinner companions but have to stare at my phone. I don’t do this at other restaurants. $15 burger add $3 for fries? Really? Great view...too bad we have to pay so much for it.

We have eaten here several times really enjoyed the ambiance and the food so I looked forward to having my birthday dinner here. The restaurant was virtually empty. We were seated and the hostess briefly explained that we would get the menus on our phones and if we wanted one bill we would have to order everything on one phone and then she disappeared. I started to order drinks and when nothing arrived my husband went to find a waitress. He got a lecture for not wearing his mask. Someone finally showed up at the table to explain that we had to order AND PAY for each item as we went. IE. drinks would be a charge, salads would be a charge, entrees etc AND everything ordered on one charge would arrive at the same time so we needed to time our orders to space out the arrival of each course! Apparently the staff was incapable of providing this basic task of restaurant service. At this point I decided this was all to complicated and we left. I have been to other restaurants using the online menu system successfully but this was a cluster .... We might return when the pandemic is over but not before.

Mobile ordering is ridiculous, you have to order each course separate otherwise they will all come out at once?? We were told the staff could not order for us, however, an other table came in and the waiter did in fact order for them and yes they had a smart phone. A large group left due tot he mobile ordering system and other complained it was trying. The food was disappointing, especially for the money. We've eaten at the downtown location and it was FABOULOUS!!!! Such a drastic difference. we will not return tot his location.

Ordering each course individually was weird. The waitress was not as attentive as when it is normal. You would have one person that specifically took care of a table, It seems like now everybody is doing all the tables.

The no contact ordering was not explained well. If you order all your food at the same time, they deliver all the food at the same time. Their expectation is that you space the meal yourself and place multiple orders through the website. The food was great.
