Do not care for online ordering and having to pay for each course.
Overall it was a good dining experience. It was a bit challenging ordering on our phones and setting up an account. I have used the menu in other places, but not the ordering. Hopefully next week when restrictions are eased it will be better. I appreciate that they are keeping us and the staff safe.
Ordering from the app and having it all delivered to your table was really easy. Whenever you are ready to order, it is a quick process. Nice to have this great food in a relaxed environment.
Order and pay online. Clumsy app. Auto 20% tip. Food over cooked. Crab cake almost black. Veggies over cooked and swimming in butter/oil. . .
Great food but really enjoyed the contactless process of ordering and paying for food via your phone. Totally efficient, especially with the gratuity included. We had reservation and consequently was taken straight to a table upon arrival. Awesome experience.
The new system is very easy to use. It was a great experience.
Had a great brunch on Father’s Day. The app ordering system is easy and I like that I don’t have to wait around for the server to order something. Food was great. The server came around often enough to see if we needed anything. And it was nice to have such a quiet meal out because the tables are so far apart due to social distancing,
The new COVID ordering and service process was very smooth and easy to use.
Simple and great-
Gatlin deserves the MANAGER OF THE YEAR award!!!!!! He made sure everything was perrrrrfect for my 1st date night in 2 yrs. The bartender even came over to make sure the drinks very satisfactory ... I normally go to the Boathouse at Shockley Bottom but they were booked, so glad I decided to visit Short Pump location. Gatlin you are AWESOME and keep up the GREAT WORK!
I did not like that we had to do all the work. I like for the waiter to take my order and check on me more.
Was in Short Pump and really wanted some steak. My girlfriend and I made the reservations and got in. Everything was very nice. The people were amazingly nice and friendly. We ordered our steak and it was perfect. My girlfriend was really happy. Needless to say, we REALLY enjoyed it. Definitely would not hesitate to go back.
The online order while you are sitting on the table trying to have a conversation was very tedious specially in a big party. My cc kept getting decline because of the multiple orders. It was very frustrating the scrolling down the menu everytime you wanted to see a specific dish. I dont agree with the new way of service.
We were very disappointed in our service experience at The Boathouse. We expected to experience top notch customer service but alas, we were expected to handle out experience through a Kiosk to order, pay, etc. Even though some diners were allowed to provide their orders to their servers because they had gift cards, when we expressed our strong desire not to have to fiddle with the Kiosk, they didn't seem to care. So we left and had a wonderful meal with fantastic service at Firebirds.
The smartphone-based ordering system is a little awkward on first encounter and discourages direct questions about menu options. Otherwise a first-class dining experience. don't be afraid to try the Red Blend wine.
We decided to try a new place for brunch and went to The Boathouse Short Pump as we had never eaten brunch here previously. The decor is beautiful and the host and manager were very accommodating. Other than that, it was not a good experience. They make you order your everything on your phone and pay for it, including 20% gratuity at the very start. So we ordered and paid for it and that's about when the service from a waiter or waitress ended. We got our drinks and some of our food. We had to ask twice for the rest of what we had ordered. We never got refills of our drinks the entire time. The food was ok at best. Waffles and chicken, the chicken was burnt. California omelette included a burnt biscuit with no jelly or butter offered and no one to ask to bring you any. They charge you $4 for 3 slices of bacon but we were told it would be 4 slices. Basically $60 for 2 people for breakfast that is subpar and no service. I guess they figure that you already paid the 20% or more gratuity at the start so why do they actually have to serve you well after that? Trust me, if you are looking for brunch or service go elsewhere.
Prices are a little high, but you should know that going in. The food is excellent.
The new ordering system is impersonal ....better service in a pizza joint on the corner!
Went with my husband and it was so nice to feel normal again! Staff was super friendly and I don’t think I’ve been to a cleaner restaurant in years - can’t wait to go back again soon!
My son made the grave mistake of ordering a burger at a seafood restaurant. He ordered pink and it came out charred to a crisp. They offered to make him another one and after 15 minutes low and behold another hockey puck with cheese on it was delivered to the table. Note to anyone out there, go to a burger restaurant if you want a burger.
The food was FANTASTIC. The new way they are doing service was weird, but we understood and appreciated their concerns. I still believe even with this new way, the waiters should still come around to check to make sure no drinks needed to be refilled which was our small complaint but other than that it was great! We will be back!
Be prepared to conduct your order via your cell phone. It was a bit much for me and I couldn't imagine someone oldet having to do this in order to eat
Brunch was good. Server was helpful and sweet. The portion of the food was less than what I expected. I order the steak and eggs with potates; biscuits and gravy was not the best I've had in my opinion but overall, all was well. Tasted kind of milky.
This was our first dining experience since the pandemic. Everything was orderly and the staff was very pleasant. Our server was excellent.
Food was great, service was quick. Kinda like the “touchless” ordering, but you gotta do what you gotta do nowadays.
Our server was very friendly; they are using mostly contactless service which is 100% fine. We ordered 3 bacon cheeseburgers, all to be "cooked pink," but they all came out so overcooked that they were inedible. We did not make a big deal out of it, but when our server asked how everything was we told her and she then told the manager who offered us one free dessert to go. Strange times, I guess.
Food was yummy, service excellent. We had gift cards- without them, probably would not go- a bit pricey for us.
I visited the Boathouse for Brunch, ordered the Crab Cake Benedict with potatoes and asparagus, the crab cake was delicious along with the potatoes and asparagus, the only hiccup was the eggs they were not runny, the egg yolks were thick not runny at all, my sister had the same issue with her dish.
My beverage was a Moscow Mule, it packed a punch, which is what I wanted, very tasty, my sister enjoyed her Mimosa as well.
My family went for Brunch today. The touch less ordering system they have was innovative. A 20% gratuity is included in each transaction which I think is great if the service is good. Our “captain “ partially explained how the ordering system worked and we placed our order. The drinks, appetizers and food came fairly promptly. No one followed up to see if we needed anything ever. We would have liked some condiments and there was a problem with our food. Four of us ordered eggs Benedict, the hollandaise sauce was excellent but all the poached eggs were overcooked and the biscuits were hard and dry. We could not even find a server to flag down. We ate our food as is and were finally able to get our captain’s attention for a drink refill. She said we should use the app for that but she would bring anyway. 20 minutes later no refill. This would have been a far better experience for us had someone simply asked if we needed anything after the food was delivered. Service needs improvement!
Hi Marla, Glad you thought the contactless ordering was innovative, but sorry our in-person service did not meet expectations. Please know that we are always working on giving guests great hospitality, and will use these notes to improve going forward.
The overall experience was very good. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent and much needed after weeks of isolation.
So wonderful to enjoy a great meal with fabulous service
Been too long!
Liked the no touch dining. You use their app to order and pay. Really liked that.
Fantastic dining experience even with the COVID-19 restrictions in place. The food was amazing. I had the delectable pan seared scallops and elote style risotto and my girlfriend had some of the best fish and chips she’s ever had. We also shared the crab and artichoke dip that we made sure to finish off every last bit of its savory perfection. Highly recommend The Boathouse!
Food, wine, and service were good! The table nearby had two guests whose cellphones were making a “slot machine” sound at least once every minute or so. 😂 This went on for the 45 minutes we were there, it was incredibly annoying and just classless. Surprisingly, the manager never spoke to the group. If I had been at McDonalds I would expect this a bit more. My husband and I felt the manager should have asked the table nicely to mute their phones. We left as soon as we ate our dinner and grabbed dessert from another restaurant since the noise was driving us crazy. Could we have asked them to stop? Sure! But it’s not our desire/place to do so.
we had the best waiter in a very long time. very good experience
Great friendly service, we had party of 6. All drinks and food came out same time and correctly. No issues!
We went for the leap day special; 2 lobster for $29 - amazing value given one lobster dinner was $34! You had to know about the special as the wait staff didn’t disclose it, understandably. The only “annoyance” were lights above us that kept flashing - it took wait staff a while to figure it out. The lobster shell could have been better prepared for easier access but otherwise, dinner was delicious!
Fantastic food with an edge. Definitely a fusion type experience!
The omelet choices were good. We were pleased over all
We always enjoy dining at the Boathouse in Short Pump, and were looking forward to a fun Saturday night dinner. We ordered the special seafood platter for the table, assured that there was enough food for the three of us who wanted it. The platter just felt skimpy; the fish bits were actually buried in the ice and frozen. The lobster was just so-so, and we would have enjoyed pulling the tail meat out ourselves, but it was also sitting on the ice and very, very cold. The mussels were way too spicy this time.
We'll chalk this up as an anomaly as we usually have superior seafood and service, which was also a bit spotty as we waited way too long for our desserts, and then had to track our waitress down for the check.
We won't be deterred from another visit however, as this may just have been an 'off' Saturday night. Fingers crossed for a better dining experience next time. We're not giving up yet.
