We were very disappointed with how you had to order and pay via phone for every order. Order drinks, pay. Order appetizer, pay. Order dinner, pay. And 20% tip included.... with no service at our table except to deliver drinks and food. I don’t have a problem with the 20% tip .... if only we were actually getting service. This was a waste of time and sadly won’t be back until things are done differently.
Food was not good for how expensive it was. Has the burger and the shrimp tacos. The Fries were the best part of the meal
Great choice for a quiet Thanksgiving dinner. Food was excellent and so was our waiter Holden. We appreciate Holden's help in selecting a wine as well as answering a couple food questions. Thanks very much for such a nice experience.
Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful. Special twists to some familiar dishes made it very special, like Apple slices in autumn squash soup and pickled apples added to the salad. The salad was a taste treat itself; cranberry, crumbled gorgonzola, roasted pumpkin seeds, bacon and greens with a flavorful vinaigrette. The main course had all the traditional elements. Complete the meal with a slice of Apple, pumpkin or pecan pie. The meal exceeded our expectations.
Beautiful day. They had windows open and fans circulating.
We have visited all of the Boathouses, frequenting Sunday park the most for the pizza. But the prices just continue to skyrocket without an increased value in the quality or variety of food offered. Cannot judge the waitstaff during the pandemic as it is all DIY with the phone. With 2 drinks and an appetizer at $42.00 we decided to stop there and leave to have dinner somewhere else. Makes me sad because we have supported them over the years but they no longer appeal to us in their offering, prices, quality, or experience.
Great food and drinks
Food was good but WAY overpriced
It was my birthday dinner the food was outstanding the cook did a wonderful job the taste the texture the plating superb
The waiter tonight was one of the best servers I have ever had. He was so polite and really on top of it.
Fabulous meal with fantastic service. Much different experience than one would normally have but they have adapted well to the pandemic. The servers were awesome and appropriately attentive. The food was delicious, the oysters were fresh and some of the largest and tastiest I have had. The only detractor is that the restaurant is a little on the expensive side given the size of the meal. I highly recommend the Boathouse and appreciate everything that they are doing to keep open during such trying times. Thanks for the great night!
Very good experience. We had broiled seafood platter featuring two jumbo shrimp, two scallops and a crab cake over mashed potatoes and asparagus which was great. The service was excellent. The touchless ordering is very nice... wish more places would incorporate this. Ambiance is actually spoiled by the lack of patrons, but we dined a little early.
The Boathouse experience was great. Food was good. Had a little trouble viewing the menu on my iPhone as everything was supposedly contactless. I say, supposedly, as another couple was having problems and they actually brought them a paper menu.
However, our waiter was fabulous and helped us move our ordering process along as well as handling any request we made.
We enjoyed everything and will definitely return.
Got more expensive and paying 20% for using there new ordering system. The dessert we got with the cookie has a little bit of ice cream. Use to be 2 scoops. We only go to Richmond from Raleigh for the food. But with the 20% additional cost I would like to think about it. You need to update your menu on line. We went on a Sunday and brunch was served until 3pm. Very disappointing.
Loved the atmosphere! We had the perfect seating right by the open windows!
First time eating here and service and food were awesome!
The food was good and so was the service but the prices are high compared to similar food at similar establishments.
As an older adult it was difficult and discouraging to try to order on our phones, and if not for the exceptional staff that assisted us we would have just left. I feel it definitely takes away from the overall experience of an upscale restaurant as it is a service industry. The food was fairly priced and the flavors were amazing! However my scallops were slightly undercooked which could be a food safety issue as my husband is a CDM and I am a nurse. I am not sure I would revisit this establishment .
What more can I say
You have to come out to The Boat houses’s Crab Cake Mondays. What a deal. For great Crab Cakes.
Great food; atmosphere, and service. We had a very enjoyable evening and will definitely return.
I understand the necessity for safety during COVID, but the "order your own food and pay on your phone as you go" element ruined the flow and ambiance of the evening. Also, with service being reduced, shouldn't prices be reduced? It's rather offensive to include a 20% gratuity, given the process.
Love love love everything about the restaurant- will definitely be back.
Great experience, excellent food
We enjoyed our visit to Boathouse Restaurant. The waiter we had was very nice and completely helpful. The food was on time and very appreciated. My only issue is that it a little pricey.
I think that the menu items including the drinks are expensive enough that you should be able to supply disposable menus. It wasn’t very relaxing or enjoyable ordering and paying for drinks and the meal on our phones.
The service was excellent. Service was attentive and super polite. The phone ordering a bit tricky. They verbally tell you a 20% tip is added, but then that option also comes up when using the online tools. They need to clarify better. The only food that was served hot was our zucchini appetizer. Hubby's seafood Mac and cheese was delish, but crusty from being under the warming light. My lobster was lukewarm, butter lukewarm and I had to ask for various tools to extract the meat and lemon. I ordered a side of sautéed Brussels sprouts with pecans and sweet potatoes, but received sautéed sprouts in butter. When dropping $160, I expect the food to be much better coordinated and presented. We were so hungry we didn't want to wait for recooks.
We had a great experience. No complaints! Definitely will come back.
Food was excellent!! Could give a little more food for the money. Great atmosphere.
The food was gross. The mussels were not flavored food was tasteless
Great service and food
Holding the waiter was very good.
Overall I enjoyed everything
We had a very good evening and look forward to visiting again soon.
I hadn't dined at this location in a while and took two clients to lunch. The food and the ambience was better than I remembered and the guests really enjoyed it.
It is awkward to take customers there right now as each person either has to order on their own phone OR one person(me) basically took each person's order at the table OR I guess I could have passed my phone around to each person. I understand what they are trying to accomplish but if they want to entertain business meals then a better system must be explored. Maybe selecting a table number so that one person can still pay while maintaining the social distancing attemp.
Like I mentioned before the food was great. We had crab dip, cheeseburger, crap cakes, salmon, hush puppies also. Definetely good eating!!
This is my go to spot, the food is delicious each time I come. Amazingly delicious
The food was great and service was too. Nice place to meet friends of family.
You have to order from your phone and pay for it before you get your food. They sneak in a 20% tip as a "service fee" and then trick you into leaving an additional tip. All for service you didn't receive. I will not be going back during the fake pandemic, or after.
We used to get sparkling Rosie & liked the blueberry salad neither of which is available.
Not a fan of ordering and paying online. Had to get help twice and Google wanted card # again on one screen. Too much work. Don't think we will return even though food was great.
Very good food, well worth the price. We will definitely be going back.
