Great food and drink choices. And you can't beat the view.
We went for Mother’s Day and made our reservations way ahead through Open Table. A credit card was required to reserve the reservation. I didn’t see anything on the website or here that it was a buffet brunch only but it could have been posted later, however I could not have canceled my reservation without a fee. Might have been my mistake I don’t know. The food was very tasty. The tenderloin was awesome. I just wasn’t in the mood for waffles at 3:00 pm for about $50 each. Also I had a teenager with me who will never eat $50 worth of food.
We never got drink refills although she took plates away quickly.
It was loud both with music and people. We were seated downstairs in the basement which was ok nice but not spectacular.
It was just ok and I would probably choose somewhere else next time.
Mother’s Day Celebration
Enjoyed Mother’s Day brunch. Our server Taylor was spot on. Very friendly and not to quick or slow with drink service. Impressed with the quality and variety of the buffet brunch. Top shelf!
Had a very good Mother's Day Brunch, food was excellent, staff was cordial. Would definitely go back for a similar occasion.
No stars. Very hot in restaurant. We went for a special occasion. Everyone in the dining room was dressed up and SWEATING. On a 95 degree day they had the outside walls open to allow the 95degree temps in the dining room. My daughter’s roommate was recently diagnosed as a type 1diabetic. She drank so much water to try to cool down. Our waitress was excellent and kept the water coming. The manager said she had heard no complaints and didn’t see a problem. For just ok food it was not worth it. It is a difficult drive to get down to the restaurant with all the road work. Would not recommended of go again. Miserable
Came for Mother’s Day on Saturday although the restaurant was busy never felt we weren’t taken care of. Laura W. Was great. Will definitely be back.
Lovely venue, great service, but only 3/6 meals were good, not great. Reservations for 6 @ 8:15 and we were seated immediately, in one of their large booths. Very comfortable, but I forget how loud it is in there. Thankfully by 9 PM the crowd thinned & the noise level dropped considerably. Excellent cocktails. Next time I will remember to reserve a table on the porch, and order whatever the special is for the evening
Despite having a reservation we waited over an hour for a table. The service after we were sat was mediocre at best. Our server appeared to have too many tables as he was hustling around the restaurant yet he rarely stopped by to check on us. The food was good. It was very rich however. The best and really only truly positive part of our experience was the ambiance and view.
Too noisy for my taste. Only saving grace was our server. Soup not hot enough and crab cake was just ok.
I ordered the special Wednesday night. The steak, shrimp, and asparagus were perfect. I thought the rosemary potatoes lacked flavor/seasoning. Overall, still one of my favorite restaurants/locations in Richmond. Thanks, for the great service.
The appetizers, entrees, and desserts were unique and delicious. The waitress and the manager showed wonderful hospitality towards me and my partner. The waitress presented us with excellent service by making sure we had everything we needed. The scenic view from our table was exquisite and vibrant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
Great food. First time there
The waiter rang up our bill incorrectly and then the restaurant proceeded to find me via cell phone an hour later to get us to pay the difference since it was my name on the reservation. I certainly didn’t mind paying what was owed. However, for a special evening out, it was a disaster where I ended up having to pay for my own birthday dinner out myself vs being a treat. The tone communicated by the manager calling me was not the most polite either.
We went to the Boathouse at Rockett’s (for the first time) for our anniversary. We found the restaurant packed and quite loud for our 8 pm reservation. We each ordered a cocktail from among the many interesting choices before dinner. Our crab and artichoke dip app was tasty. My wife enjoyed the blueberry arugula salad, but my Caesar was less than average. Her scallops were good. I ordered the mahi special which was tasty but overly salty. The manager came by and said he’d like to buy us dessert for our anniversary, but when the check came, the dessert was full price. All in all, I wish we had asked for a table by the windows or on the deck, not only because it was a beautiful night, but because we would have been able to hear each other better. I wish the menu had more options. While we had a nice time, I think we could have had a better meal for our money elsewhere.
Had a great time! The view was great and the food was even better. The broiled seafood plate and the crabcakes were great. Loved the bread pudding!
Good food and service. Would be nice to add an awning for more comfortable outdoor seating
All three Boathouse locations have lovely patios and of course the water is a treat when the weather is nice.
I've always been disappointed in the food for the price. The location and price point say Fine Dining, but the menu and ingredients are three stars at best, and often only two. The portions are bigger, which is nice; but the flavors are mostly bland and uninspired.
I've had four star dinners at a comparable price that you can't stop talking about after. The Boathouse is good, but I never find myself talking about it later.
Has always been one of our favorites!
Very relaxing mid-week excursion. Seated outside to really enjoy the view. Food was good--they were a bit slow on the main course and apologetic. Overall it was a great evening.
Usually the food is impeccable but tonight yuck scallops were sorely over cooked the kitchen was really slow the waitstaff did their best to accommodate of course that he was outstanding the best place to show off Richmond’s Riverview
I won’t completely write it off but will be checking out other options more aggressively
Our waiter Garrett was nice and attentive and very good trying to up-sale us on blackened scallops. The food was ok. Not spectacular. Overall, it was a good experience.
We were inside and it a little too loud for our business dinner. Table of 7 and I could only hear the people next to me.
The waitress was the best! She did not bother us with lots of questions but magically was there when we needed something! Food was good: crab cakes, shrimp tacos, crab stuffed shrimp.
Dining on the deck would be wonderful, I did not think to request that when I made reservation.
Always a good choice when you can’t decide where to go. The sunset from the patio is as relaxing as one of their custom cocktails.
My wife and I retired that day and wanted to celebrate with a good meal. Service was outstanding and very attentive. Location is great and we were seated at a table with a wonderful view of the river and the skyline. Would recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting a special experience.
It was good but I was watching the way they were sitting people of color and it concerned me and I hope that’s not what’s happening I really like the boathouse.
Boathouse at Rocketts Landing is always great. Wonderful view, good food, solid service and a moderate value. Typically have done brunch recently which is a solid value with the waffle/omelet bar.
It was very noisy with a lot of people but the loud music made it difficult to talk at a table of 6 people, we couldnt hear what the others were saying
A friend’s bday.
It took me 5 years but finally made it. Awesome restaurant with top service and amazing seafood. The views at the outdoor tables over the river are astounding. Not cheap but well worth it for a special occasion.
The appeal is the view, but there’s no view if you’re not seated at one of the outer rim tables.
All wood decor means it’s going to be very loud, and it is.
$5 for a cup of regular coffee? Really?
Don’t get the “ice cream sandwich.” Not good.
I've been here a few times and I'm always happy. On this occasion the food was well prepared. The hush puppies were to die for. I had shrimp and grits. It was very good. Salad greens were not very fresh. Hence the three stars. It's in a great spot on the river but not all tables have a river view. The outdoor seating is limited but if you snag one of those tables, it's golden. Nice deck/bar provides a wonderful view of the city. We were seated right away and the service was great.
My daughter and her boyfriend went to The Boathouse for a pre-prom dinner. The atmosphere was nice and it provided a beautiful backdrop for pictures!
I like the atmosphere. Crab cakes were salty. I had a group of 8 and they crammed us in a small table. Overall it was okay. Can definitely get better food elsewhere you can't beat that view.
Excellent food, beautiful view, surprisingly family friendly but mainly adult patrons. We went to celebrate my daughters 7th birthday and had a fantastic evening!
Very nice dinner. We were very pleased with the food and experience. Will continue to return often.
Everything tasted good but the seafood portions were slim. I ordered the fried seafood platter. 1/3 if the plate was occupied by 3 large hush puppies. There were 4 shrimp, 3 oysters and a small crab cake. The rest of the plate was filled with fries and a tiny 3 bite portion of cole slaw. The clam chowder appetizer was awesome! It all tasted good, just disappointed in value for the seafood- I can get hush puppies and fries at CookOut- I was expecting more seafood, especially for $28. I travel a lot and spend quite a few nights a year in Richmond Va, not sure I’d visit this restaurant again due to the disappointing amount of seafood supplied on a “seafood platter.”
Love the view and service. Half priced wine on Wednesday was great!
First time at this location. Great spot and the food was excellent.
