Wonderful meals and service!
Wonderful setting with the city in the background
Was not very impressed with the speed or attention of the service and the food was kind of lacking. Ordered roasted brussels sprouts and they were hardly browned on the outside and barely cooked inside, although well-seasoned. The mashed potatoes also had that overwhipped glue-ness that they get sometimes and nothing was super hot. But overall, it was good. Roasted oysters were amazing.
Bday lunch for my mil
We frequent The Boathouse a lot, however I was very disappointed with the portion size at this visit. We walked away hungry. For $130.00 for 2 people and not to be satisfied is ashamed. I wasn’t going to call and complain but since you asked
Food and service excellent. Value as expected for high quality dining. Noise level unacceptable due to large groups that should be seated in open. Should have them in a private room.
Fairly small luncheon selection.
This was my first time going and I loved it. The food was great and service was excellent. I will definitely come again. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that want great dining.
We had a good time and good food there as a special treat to start 2019. The cold seafood tower is really good though a bit high, we loved great cocktail sauces plus candle heated butter for the lobster, yum. If I might add 1 suggestion - since it's listed on the menu as an "appetizer for 4" it wouldn't hurt to add 2 more oysters to make it 8 (rather than "half Dz"), that way each person can have 2, everyone Happy :). Deal? We'll be back soon!
Always a great experience, food is the best and servers are knowledgeable and very friendly
Wonderful food, service e and view.
Food and service were outstanding especially for a busy NYE. Our server was Sharif and he was fabulous.
We were there for dinner New Year’s Eve. Foodand service were great.!
Celebrated New Year's Eve dinner with the girlfriend. Scallops were great but Lobster Special Dish (chef's choice on menu) was not served properly as the claws were cracked but the rest of the shell was not. Aside from having to get a 'little dirty' to open up the girlfriend's meal, Aubry (our server), was FANTASTIC. His attitude and knowledge of the food was terrific and made some great recommendations. I would go back again and again. As I have!! Bob B
This was a great dining experience. The food, service, and environment were all exceptional. The noise level was very appropriate for this type of restaurant.
An exceptional kitchen. Good food. Staff is professional and friendly.
Food was average. Manager not willing to consider a request to change a vegetable for another. Waiter was fair, not much personality, he seemed preoccupied, felt like I was being rushed.
Overall, I liked the atmosphere.
We have dined at the Boathouse several times, and each time find the food, service and ambiance to be first rate. Views of the James River and the City allways add to the fun.
Upbeat, lively atmosphere with professional staff, and tasty food.
The service and the food are excellent. We have always enjoyed the boathouse.
Great food and great service!! Loved everything about this place! Best restaurant staff I’ve ever met!
The food and service were outstanding but the noise level was greater than I recalled from previous visits.
We have eaten at this location several times, and even taken guests there before but on this occasion unfortunately, our experience was poor enough that we are considering not returning again. We had friends from out-of-town join us for lunch on their way home to Maryland and thought they might enjoy the view of the Richmond skyline as well as your menu.
1) The service was extremely slow and although our server was pleasant when he was at our table, we saw very little of him throughout our meal. We'd intended to order dessert but finally just decided to get the check after a very long wait with empty dishes in front of us.
2) The Bloody Marys (which I'd recommended) were not good at all - nobody finished theirs.
3) The spinach & pear salad was the smallest I'd seen at any of your locations (we usually go to the one at Swift Creek) though it tasted fine.
All in all, a bad choice of a restaurant in a town that has so many good ones to choose from. Our first time at the Rockett's Landing location was just after it opened and service was friendly but a bit slow then (as expected), but since the food was good and we knew the service would get better as the staff became used to the newness we returned and were glad we did. This visit was bad enough that we won't be back for a long time, if ever (until we hear something very positive from others, if that happens).
Everything was great! Delicious omelettes, waffles and cheese grits! Service was great too!
Until this last visit, my overall rating would have been very good for the Rockets Landing location. This visit was quite the contrary. We (party of 4) arrived 35 minutes early for our reservation. After giving the hostess my name, I asked her if there was a earlier table we would be glad to take it. She reiterated that they were on schedule for our reserved time (in a tone that wasn't pleasant or helpful). So we proceeded to go to the bar to await our reservation being called. Upon sitting at the bar for a few minutes, I observed 7 unoccupied tables of which 4 of them were not occupied even til the time I asked to speak with a manager, which was just 10 minutes before our reserved time. The manager then stated that the hostess should have explained better - that they were waiting for one of the window tables (which they considered to be one of the better tables) to become available for those who'd made reservations. After being seated, our server came to pour water and we observed 3 out of 4 of the glasses were dirty and asked that all of them be replaced. We all ordered the brunch buffet and when I got to the buffet and picked up a plate, it had stuck on food on it, then the next one also and then the following one was extremely soiled (leftover food still on it). Then the waffles were under cooked and then the icing on the cake, my brother-in-laws plate had hair on it. This was definitely one of the worst experiences I've had there and was reluctant to post this because my other experiences have been quite good. The manager did remove one buffet (hair on the plate) costs. She also let us know that she'd spoken with the kitchen and also had a repair person there at that time working on the dishwasher. So hopefully this will rectify that issue.
Our server was OK. It is cold and flu season and as she poured our prosecco she held the glass close to the rim. I am not trying to be snobby, but that is not good. She also did not come back to give more water or bring us the "chiller"that she herself said she would bring out. This is the third time in a row that our service has been sub par or simply OK. In all fairness, if I did not have a gift certificate, we would not have eaten at this location. There was a loud table next to us celebrating a birthday. That is not the fault of the restaurant. However between them, the holiday music playing and the loud thumping of the DJ below (as there was a wedding going on) I felt like I could barely hear. I think open table needs to give a category for "too much" in their noise level category. The atmosphere is nice (even though it was the day after Christmas but they did not turn on their fireplace) and the view is of course spectacular. Bottom line, if not for the gift certificate, I would not pick this as a place to enjoy a nice dinner. If they step up the food and the service, it could be amazing.
Thoroughly enjoyed my birthday dinner. Unfortunately, I had to send my steak back twice because it wasn’t cooked properly. The manager made it right and took care of my dinner.
I went with two friends to the Boathouse last Friday. They had never been there before and were really impressed with the food as well as the service! All three of us would recommend it!
We had reservations but arrived early. Chose to sit in bar to wait. Service was good even though very busy. Seated before our time. Kudos for that. Table service & food was excellent. Talented String duo added to the wonderful evening.
we like the Boathouse only drawback, is the noise level, which is very high, can't hear the person next to you talk, would be nice to provide some sound proofing materials to reduce the level of noise, since it appears they want to have an elegant setting with white table cloths and fine dining.
On Christmas Eve 2018 the Boathouse at Rockett's Landing was spot-on. We dine at the Boathouse often and one of our Christmas Traditions is Christmas Eve dinner there. After arriving at 6:50 for a 7:00 p.m. reservation we waited at the community table in the bar and were summoned by text at 7:03. As requested, a beautiful table was proffered. The wine was great, the redfish great, the salmon great and the Boathouse Burger were all perfect. I expect service to be good and it was. It was a lively place. Thank you for meeting out high expectations.
This is one of our Richmond favorites. It wasn’t the best experience. The food was slow to get out to us. The sides were plated long before the main portion. I guess they were overwhelmed by the holiday crowd. The waiter was over tasked. Overall not the quality we consistently get when we go here. Probably try somewhere else next holiday.
Dinner was a pleasure as usual finished off by dessert with the special Boathouse blend French pressed coffee.
The area is nice the food was good.
Great brunch experience for a party of eight; everyone enjoyed brunch.
Lovely anniversary dinner
Very pleased with our dining experience. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs.
It was amazing!!
