Arrived for our booking, there was no staff around! There was other people
Who started to arrive. After 15 minutes, a man appeared and told us he would seat us, then he came back snd took us to a table. Bit disappointed we was sat on a grass bank with a booked table, we’d expect tables booked for food would be under the big tent. Then the man took away a menu and told us he would be back, after 25 minutes of waiting, No one had come to the table! We decided to leave. It’s such a shame, we’ve heard nothing but amazing things and was so looking forward to our first outing. I completely understand it’s busy and stressful but there was just no staff around? They should of told
Us look we are very busy and understaffed, so it will take us a while to get to you and food is gonna be this long. I hope that you get staffing sorted and we can try again.
Ordering was very chaotic and meal took a very long time to come out.
Had to try and keep catching eye of staff to take order.
They are maximising outdoor space but not enough staff to deal with orders efficiently.
Food was very nice. Service was poor and very, very slow. 3 tables got up to leave as they had been waiting for over 35 minutes to be served/orders taken
Dear Anon. Saturday was our first busy day of opening and despite our best efforts we dropped the ball and did not give the best experince. We adapting as quick as we can to the new systems and recruiting staff as we speak.
The waiter we had was drunk and had gone to 3 other tables and got orders and then didn’t retrieve them. We got there at quarter to six and hadn’t been served until quarter to seven. The food was good and the staff did apologies and give us the food for free and drinks for free. We understood it was busy but the atmosphere was too out of control
We had booked a table, were there 2 and half hours and managed to get 2 rounds. It was 30 minutes before we got asked what we wanted then another 30 before we got our drinks. The the 2nd round was just as bad. We asked a few times to order and where our drinks were but it felt like we were being ignored. Almost missed the train as we had to ask 4 times and 4 different people to pay the bill. Yes it was busy but not sure if it was lack or organisation or staff, not convinced that our first order didn't actually get lost as we had to place another one.
The staff were fantastic, working so hard with the new outdoor arrangements, the place was very busy and full but the service remained very good, will certainly return in the near future.
Such a lovely outdoor area. Food was good. Service good. Sat in the sun and had our first post lockdown beer from a barrel. Amazing!
Food was lovely as usual and booking system to book a table worked well. Only negative was the time it took to order food and drinks. Had trouble getting staff attention and had to call across the marquee to get attention - this was every time we needed someone so system not quite working but may just be teething problems. Overall, great food as usual and lovely to be eating out again.
Absolutely beautiful food, great service and atmosphere and covid friendly highly recommend
Really lovely environment, good service and food. Very impressed with the new outside area
Lovely place! Great food, great ambience, will definitely be back.
Food and beer are excellent, staff are friendly and the pub is awesome! What more can you say.
Amazing!! Have done an excellent job on their outdoor seating area. And delicious food as always so good to be back.
Great food , great service... Thes best way to come out of lockdown!
Food excellent. Very quiet due to small amount of bookings due to corona virus partial lockdown. (Tier 2)
Our little Family Bubble decided on a pre Xmas eat out and having visited the Blue Ball pre Covid and had an excellent Lunch decided that this would be ideal. We were not disappointed with our latest visit. The Pub was well organised to ensure Covid requirements and safety for all was me. Upon arrival we were shown to our tables which were nicely set complete with a Christmas Cracker for all (much to our 6 year old Grandsons delight). The Pub itself despite being much quieter than a normal pre Xmas dining experience was nicely decorated with Xmas Trees and lights and was warm and welcoming. Prague Dave our principal Waiter was friendly efficient and engaged well with our party even managing to photo bomb a few pictures which was fun ! The food was of a very good standard for a Pub and was sufficient in quality and quantity. No complaints from any of our party and to be honest we have eaten in Restaurants that could learn a thing or two about the presentation and attention to detail that made dining at The Blue Ball such a pleasant experience. Being a Saint Austell Brewery House my Son who is Jail Ale fanatic was a little unfamiliar with many of the Breweries ales that were on offer but the style and flavour of the range available was well explained by the Gent that we took to be the Manager and as a few of these were ordered on the night they met the taste requirements. It was a great evening over all too quickly and we cant wait to have another gathering in more settled times at the Ball. If you have not tried it do so, you wont IMHO be disappointed. The bill was more than reasonable at around £35.00 per head including Wines and Ales. Thanks to all at the Blue Ball stay safe and well and Best Wishes for Xmas and 2021.'
Excellent food with excellent service. One of our new favourite places to go. Highly recommend.
Great food , great service .. brilliant stop if travelling past Exeter
Booked table before chiefs game, covid safe, with a good atmosphere, Food was quick good quality and great value. Staff very helpful a great way to start the day. Thanks
Always great food, great service and a warm welcome
We ordered starters, mains and dessert and everything arrived very well presented and was very tasty.
The food was wonderful, lovely atmosphere. Very busy when we got there, think this was due to the Exeter Chiefs playing. Did empty close to kick off. Our local would recommend to anyone.
Turkey lovely and plenty of it. Roast potatoes appear to be reheated, a little dark and over done. Plenty of veg. Overall we enjoyed the evening and staff were very friendly and hospitable.
Excellent Sunday Lunch as always. Best Yorkshire Puddings ever.
Exceptional food and service as always, well done team.
Lovely lunch with our 2 children. Great portions and lovely food.
Great quality food.
Exceptional service from Dave, our waiter.
Definitely going again.
All very good as always....
Great food with an efficient level of service- we felt COVID-19 safe too
Simple menu range, large portions. Very tasty.
Excellent Ice Cream
Always great service and food. Staff very friendly and happy to go that extra mile
The food was great, but the food service was very slow. this was probably due to it being very busy with last minute diners, but there was not really and acknowledgement of this from the service staff.
Really lovely food. Definitely worth a visit or two!
Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and lovely food.
Friendly staff, lovely food. Would definitely recommend.
First time I have been here, and the food was very scrumptious, I had a lamb shank and it was cooked to perfection, and the mussel stater was delicious, very generous portions, definitely good value for money, I will be visiting again in the future 👌
We were made very welcome with our little dog, who was given a bowl of water and a dog biscuit on arrival! Friendly welcoming staff. Very COVID safe - all was spotlessly clean. Food was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be making a return visit!
No Devon Red Cider as usually have so ordered lager instead as other ciders of poor choice
Staff friendly and nice clean pub. Not very busy as Monday. The 25% off food deal was welcome as felt a few dishes i.e. the fish pie were overpriced at £16.00 but the veggie burger plate looked great. Would return in the future.
Always guaranteed excellent food and service. Such a lovely pub and the recent redecorating is stunning. See you again soon
