The menu features the seasonal best from local farmers, fresh catches from the coast of the Carolinas, incredible local micro-brews, specialty cocktails, and great wines from the around the world. Our menu changes seasonally to reflect the bounty of the area and the chef’s creativity. We are located in the heart of downtown Asheville, on Biltmore Ave. You can find us at the corner of The Aloft Hotel.

Farro salad was incredible. Scallops tasted a little funky and were sent back. Ended up with the vegetable Wellington which was good but not great. We loved our server initially but then she seemed to forget about our table.... so much so that we passed on coffee and desserts as 30 plus minutes passed before she came to ask about dessert.

Unique cocktails, beautiful and delicious menu items. Great service! We shared the cheese and meats boards and the staff was happy to split plates for us. Every detail was superb.

The restaurant was decorated in theme with the name and the mood was perfect. Our food came out in a timely manner. We shared a half and half Butcher Board and Cheese Boars to start, great variety and filling. I ordered the Market Ribeye and my husband ordered the Pork Chop and both were absolutely mouth watering and tender. Would highly recommend.

It was almost an hour between out salad and entre. The waiter let my wife taste two wines to help her decide which she wanted, but then it took 15 min to bring it out to her. The food was good, but nothing special. I thought all the prices were excessive.

Overall decent food but poor service. We dined outside due to covid precautions. There was no special outdoor dining patio, just a few tables scattered on the sidewalk. After we were seated, 20 minutes passed and no one came outside to check on us or take our order. We had to go in and alert the hostess; it seemed like they forgot about us. We waited another 30 minutes for our appetizers. The food was very flavorful; however, several dishes were barely warm.

Thank you for your feedback, It is unfortunate that you did not like our outdoor seating, due to Covid we have had to change our restaurant to survive like so many others.  We thank everyone for being so understanding of that fact. As for your server and the lack of attention he gave you is unexpectable and I will be dealing with that today. I would like to reiterate that is not the normal behavior of our staff and we would love it if you would give us another try.

Our evening at BlackBird was great. We really appreciated that the restaurant had spaced tables in accordance with COVID protocols. The food was great. My husband had the trout and scallops. The scallops were amazing! I had the seafood pirlau..Lots of great seafood, including plenty of mussels and clams! Service was great.

My birthday dinner was outstanding. We chose the Chef’s special “ 6 course meal “. All the dishes were hot, delicious and times perfectly!
Our waiter, Lee was attentive and knowledgeable about the wine list and food.
We will return when passing through Asheville again.

We had a nice meal and got a free dessert for celebrating a birthday at the restaurant. That was a nice touch. The mushroom gnocchi was a delicious vegan dish.

Beignets were great. Coffee is french press and delicious. Breakfast was good, basically standard breakfast (all fresh and good, nothing overwhelmingly impressive). Service is a little slow, but not bad.

Did the 5 course tasting menu + wine pairing and it was fantastic. Highlights were the "fried chicken" style artichoke that was melt-in-your mouth amazing, and the seared scallop. Everything we had was really awesome though, highly recommend this place!

We enjoyed all the things about our meal- the “Rosemary’s Baby” crafted cocktail was delicious and we loved the beet salad and the coconut custard cake for dessert. The steaks were great too and my son got the pork belly ramen and he loved it!

The food was loaded with flavors and creative, but a tad overwrought for my tastes- portions were in my opinion a bit too large for the level of creativity which detracted somewhat from the overall experience. Wine list outstanding!

Seated promptly with reservation. My wife ordered a goat cheese omelet, which came out dry and with no filling detectable. She mentioned it to one of the staff, who reacted indifferently. I had the shrimp and grits. They were tasty, but could have used some more grits as there was more gravy than substance. We were also overcharged for a bottle of wine, listed on the menu as $38 but which was charged at $45. Our reservation was at 1:00 p.m. and they closed for lunch at 2:00 p.m. It seemed like there was more attention to cashing us out and preparing for the dinner re-opening than making sure we had a good experience. All in all, a disappointing experience.

It's unfortunate that you felt rushed. That is not our intention. My staff cleans up from lunch/brunch service right away due to the fact that we have dinner in just a short time after we close the day shift. As for the mistake of the over charging for the wine I hope you do know that servers are people and they do make mistakes, so being understanding is very much appreciated, I hope you mention it so it could be corrected then but if not I can reimburse you. Underwhelming lunch. We were surprised that the food was lackluster after reading reviews. We asked our waitress what were her favorites, as we often do, and she suggested the two things we were looking at and did get which were the Pulled Pork Benedict and the Turkey and Brie sandwich. The Benedict had about 2 ounces of pulled pork and an extremely dry corn meal biscuit. The turkey sandwich was surprisingly bland with little taste of Brie or cranberry. On the positive side, The French fries were tasty as were the blackberry and peach mimosas.

Breakfast/Brunch is a plate full of yummy. You will leave full, happy, and wanting to tell everyone about the biscuits. And the grits. And the beignets. We had the breakfast food. They came with a French press, cream. The beignets with a fantastic raspberry jam. THEN plates full of breakfast food. So good. Service was attentive, but not smothering. And we did not feel rushed! And the pricing was definitely reasonable.

This is our second time at Blackbird and it’s a favorite of ours. We brought friends this time and asked for our previous server, Monica, and once again she was just perfect. She even remembered us (from months ago) which was fun. Love all the vegetarian choices and the ribeye was once again spot on for dad. We will be back!

We had a really nice lunch at The Blackbird. My daughter had the chef suggested friend chicken sandwich and I had the Turkey sandwich. Both were delicious and the service was great! We will definitely go again.

We came here mostly bc the response to negative reviews are kind of hilarious. So it piqued our interest and we wanted to try for ourselves. I would describe this establishment as “meh” overall. Food wise they missed the mark on a few things. The charred steak and fruit is a very weird dish. The meat was not charred and there was a sort of trail mix all over it. It was served on a tiny plate that made for a messy table. The spiced pecans were small chopped pecans that you would use to top ice cream. It’s not conducive to sharing. We ordered the corn and goat cheese pie and I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. The server was slow and I’m pretty sure he was high. He was very attentive to an older couple next to us and left us sitting around waiting. I liked my wine. My friend liked her salad with Brie and it was a well assembled dish.

Thank you for thinking that my responses to negative reviews are funny. It looks like you did not care for your food as much as we would have hoped, It does look like every dish you ordered is on the top of people's favorite s lists so that is unfortunate,  the corn pie is the most asked for recipe on the menu. I'll end with a nice Joke for you, Someone once said "you can't please all the people all the time and all those people were at my show last night". I hope you try us again sometime.

This restaurant is not worth going to. The food was over salted, the pork chop was dry, the ‘southern ramen’ was 90% vinegar. One of the worst meals I’ve had in a while, unfortunately. No where near the quality of food you should get for the price tag.

Thanks for the 1 Star review it was insightful. As my line cooks are just human and not perfect I do hope you said something while you were in the restaurant so we could fix the mistakes, as I said we are not always 100% because we make everything to order and mistakes can be made but we always try and fix for our mistakes when we know about them.

I appreciated the fact that CoVid restrictions were enforced. If the restaurant was operating at full capacity, I feel certain our experience wouldn't have been as enjoyable as the noise level was already moderate.

The food was exceptional and excellently prepared. My guest and I had the Blackbird steak which was interesting because it was more of a "chunk" that a slab of beef. It was quite tender and moist.

Service was great. She was prompt and courteous. I hope to return to The Blackbird and will suggest it to other friends and family.

Great experience overall. The food was great. My husband ordered the steak and eggs and I ordered the goat cheese omelet. The biscuit was perfect. The service was good. They did a great job having the tables far apart and all staff wore face masks. I would return.

The four of us each ordered a different item at brunch, then sampled each other's plates. Everything tasted fabulous! Also, excellent service and socially-distant indoor seating, plus the online reservation couldn't have been simpler. We will definitely be back again.

Very disappointing. Considering the positive reviews we had read, we came to this restaurant for a birthday celebration with the intent to experience the tasting menu. Despite a promising start, course by course the dinner went downhill. Rushed service, sub-par food, the whole thing felt like somewhat of an inconvenience for the server. To the restaurant’s credit, they did heavily discount the check when we provided our feedback. Unfortunately didn’t rectify a lost opportunity to celebrate a birthday with a great restaurant and great food. I don’t think we will return here again.

I would not return. The service for ordering and receiving drinks were slow even though the restaurant was not overly busy. The food is overpriced for dinner.
