Dinner (ribeye steak with whipped mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and asparagus) was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Worth the price by far. Hubby had goat cheese corn pie which he said was just OK. I had seared scallops for my starter, also excellent.
They were out of two bottles of wine that we wanted and service was a little slow at first but personable nonetheless. We loved our smoked trout salad and tomato soup but we wouldn’t order the olives again… seemed like they came from a jar.
Vacation from Florida, last night in Asheville. We loved the wine, and food was excellent:-)
The quality of the meal was not as I remembered and the ambience was rather frenetic. Perhaps they are catering to speed of turnover.
Fantastic meal, the pancakes and biscuits are not to be missed! And the service was quick and super friendly!
Excellent food. Everything they brought to the table was delicious.
Great service and food!
The tasting menu was a delight. The preparation was creative and tasty.
It was good but just good. Service was slow. Restaurant lighting is awkward.
Food was excellent! Our server Madi was great!
My husband and I did the chef's tasting menu with the wine accompaniment, and it was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The presentation was lovely, the dishes, unique and delicious. Maddie was our server, and she was well-versed in the wines, and described the food perfectly. She was also extremely pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely recommend The Blackbird.
Good food and service
Brunch was perfect. I made reservations because downtown Asheville can be hit or miss, it seemed nicer to have them. I got a text and confirmed, found easy parking in the lot attached to the building and we were seated right away. Our server Miriam was bright, friendly and perfectly courteous. Our Bloody Mary's were spot on and the homemade pork rinds dipped perfectly in the drink, so much fun! Our meals were delicious and well prepared and the Hollandaise was just right... I'm sorry but Asheville has a problem with keeping a recipe basic. I don't want jalapeno ramp Hollandaise on a pickled biscuit. Sometimes I just want basic done so right that it's comfort food. Shrimp and grits was a solid interpretation and my pulled pork Bennie was tender and the cornbread biscuit had the perfect crunch. Service was just the right amount of attentive and left alone so we could visit. Miriam was a delight.
Seriously y'all... I'm coming back again to have dinner and hit that wine list a bit. We had the best experience from start to finish. A great room, great food, the best soundtrack for brunch (seriously Bonobo). Absolutely just right.
Good and atmosphere were excellent. Our server Miriam did an excellent job. Would happily visit again.
Great selection of wine, cocktails and food.
Service just ok
Very Noisy! I had the fried chicken which was just okay.
Wonderful food and service
The food is so fresh and the tastes always pair well together. I've been there 3-4 times and I'm always impressed. (And I always sample food from family members' plates.) The servers are friendly and helpful, too.
The food was delicious, the server was personable, the berry compote/ice cream was a treat. A culinary delight!
Overall very nice dinner, only 1 dessert( pecan brownie) missed the mark, would not order again.
Great service by Madison(Maddie). Delicious food. There was a kitchen tip added on to the bill which was unexpected.
We’re seated promptly and service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Excellent menu choices. Good to see a busy restaurant again. Highly recommend Blackbird.
Maybe my expectations were set too high! We wanted to have a great dinner so we ordered the 6 course dinner with wine for $78/pp. It started off well, but rather than get even better, each course got progressively worse. Ending with something they said was Tiramisu, but was like a white pound cake with something beige color smeared over it, none of which had any taste and was served in a weird tiny square bowl (guess they ran out of dishes). Never had a Tiramisu before that didn’t have any taste. The fist course was a bruschetta, which was good and accompanied by a sparkling wine, which was also good, so we thought this was going to be great. Sadly NO! The second course was fried artichoke, which was OK, served with a horrible tasting white wine that wasn’t on the menu (must have been a bottle they found in the back shelf). The third course was a risotto, which was extremely salty, serve with a red Pinot that was ok. Then a palette cleanser that was just ice and salt. The next course was a single diver scallop on a plate sprinkled with salt and accompanied by a white wine, again not on the wine list but drinkable compared to the other one. The main course was supposed to be a tenderloin served on a bed of mashed potatoes with asparagus, but were two thinly sliced and overcooked pieces of beef that were mostly grizzle and quite chewy with cold overcooked asparagus and accompanied by a red that was off menu but ok. And then the sixth course of ‘Tiramisu’ pound cake with an overly sweet wine of something. Very disappointed. Not going back.
Part of the great Asheville restaurant scene. Somewhat limited entre menu but everything was expertly prepared and tasted great!
Excellent food and service!
The server was fantastic. Great recommendations. Very attentive. The food was outstanding and large portions.
Went with my wife while visiting Asheville and this was for our last night in town…arrived and was seated outside in minutes, waters arrived before I was 1/2 way thru the smaller sized menu…Food was done well and the entire night was great. Price was a little high for all involved but for a once in while splurge it was on point…We were outside so noise was noise…when I did go inside it was very quiet and relaxing…never felt rushed in anyway as we enjoyed…
The cheese board was great to share and the trout with scallop risotto was delicious!
A wonderful dining experience all around! The food was fantastic, the waiter extremely knowledgeable and helpful! Great wine list, as well!
Always a great visit!
Food very good, nice wine list and a great server.
Food very good, slightly limited menu likely supply chain issue as is with all restaurants currently. Friendly service, accommodating hostess. Sat near window, interesting people watching. Bar drinks lovely.
We were looking for a vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurant that had more than one of two options. I was very pleased with the diverse selections on the menu. I had the vegan mushroom risotto and my husband has the mushroom ragu. Both were delicious! To note, my husband is not a vegetarian but really thought the gnocchi ragu looked interesting. Highly recommend for those parties who have vegan/vegetarian diners and others who are not.
Food was awesome as always. Great service, we love this restaurant and we did not know it was open for dinner!
Great food and
The restaurant was relaxed, a little loud at times. The food was pretty good. Somewhat salty though. Our waiter was professional and attentive.
Good starters - wonderful brie and macerated fruit salad, good Caesar, tasty pork rinds. Main dishes disappointed: steak that was supposed to be medium came closer to rare; steak that was supposed to be well came medium; the Vegetable Wellington was outstanding as usual, but came with a side of not sure what - was supposed to be collards but it was some insipid not well cooked green; the gnocchi with mushrooms in a lentil stew was so overpowering in flavor they could have put cicadas in there and we wouldn't have known the difference. Redemption came at dessert time: still the best coconut cake on the planet. So very mixed bag. Be willing to try again at some other point.
Slow service for mediocre food. We went for brunch and left disappointed.
Madi was fantastic and food was great! We will certainly be back.
