We are located in the heart of downtown Asheville, on Biltmore Ave. You can find us at the corner of The Aloft Hotel.
Parking Garage is located at the back on Lexington Ave. The first hour is free.

We had wonderful drinks and conversation. Would recommend that everyone have the Basil Martini. So good!
Good ambiance for a date night. Food was enjoyable but not memorable. Our server did a great job and was very attentive and helpful with selections.
Seated at 8:25. Dinner served at 9:30. Asked the server to consider a special order and gave a back up order. Never got a clear answer if it was possible; didn't know what I was getting until it arrived at the table. Server was nice but possibly overwhelmed.

The chef's 6 course seasonal dinner was absolutely phenomenal. Cannot wait for the next season to see what will be served.
For a restaurant that was highly recommended, this was a less than stellar experience.
First off, over 10 minutes is how long we waited till someone came and got our drink order. Only one drink was ordered, sweet tea, and it came out wrong.
Secondly, we ordered the beignet's which if you've never had before, these were good. But if you've had them before in New Orleans, then these were a little lacking.
Third, our waitress only saw us three times so was unable to provide us with any real service.
Lastly, but highly important in this time period, we discovered that our table hadn't been properly cleaned before we sat down as there was a sticky mess on the table we didn't discover until we were leaving the establishment.
The food (other than the beignet's) was not bad, but nothing to rave about either. Overall, for a treat out on our anniversary, not a very pleasant experience.
Hello I noticed you posted this review on multiple sites, so I'm glad you like the food other than not living up to the beignets from New Orleans I understand and I'm sorry about that. As for the server that made some mistakes serving you, that is unacceptable and I will be talking to her about this and fixing the problems. Again thank you so much for two reviews about this experience.

After arriving in Asheville to celebrate our anniversary, we found the chef’s tasting option at Blackbird and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was comfortable with adequate spacing of tables for safety. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the items on the tasting menu and the wines paired with each. The food was wonderful and the wine pairing was very good.

I believe our servers name was Maggie and they were just wonderful! everything was absolutely delicious although a bit pricey for sandwiches and easy breakfast. We didn't mind though as we enjoyed our food very much. The ambiance was very nice, but the room was very very loud even with the restaurant half empty. My mom has a very soft voice and we had trouble conversing even side by side. I will definitely come back sometime, and hopefully the fantastically friendly Maggie will be there again, I can't enough how much we enjoyed them as a server. They made great recommendations which my mom really appreciated as she can never pick what to get at a new place.
Portions were very small but prices weren’t. The food was bland and boring. I’ve never had tasteless huevos rancheros before!! They should have taken some of the salt from the over salted potatoes and put it on the rest of the food. Had beignets as an appetizer. Two tiny little cakey pastries. Best thing about the entire meal was the apple butter. If for some reason you are forced to come here, just get a biscuit and apple butter.

Our server was distracted and not interested in making our experience pleasant. Restaurant was not neat even though we dined at 0930 AM. The food tasted and appeared left over from the previous day. I would not recommend.

Fantastic spot. Great service and food. Really enjoyed the steak and fruit small plate. Very unusual flavor mix. Thai Brussel Sprouts were great. I had the local trout and scallop dish, which was tasty. My wife had the gnocchi, which was also good and very filling. We split a Caesar salad, which was good too. Good cocktail options and pretty extensive wine list.

I will not be back, our server was not polite, my drink was constantly empty without any service, the food was bad to fair, my meal was $160.00 definitely not worth $40.00

Having said that some of the reasons it's worth it are how much I pay my staff, the quality of food I get and the downtown location. We were in Asheville for Valentine’s Day and had difficulty finding reservations. Fortunately for us,The Blackbird had the perfect time slot. Upon being seated we were immediately tended to. The drinks and appetizers were wonderful and the Seafood Pirlau was amazing. The portions were enough for my husband and I to share. We finished our meal off with Apple cranberry cobbler and wonderful French press coffee. This is a must to visit and we will definitely be back.

The food was amazing!! My husband and I ordered the 6 course meal. Everything tasted amazing. Dinner took 2 hours but it went by so fast. Once we finished one course the next course was brought out almost immediately after the empty plates were taken away. The waiter was very polite. My husband ordered a second beer and the waiter forgot to bring it out, but when the waiter realized my husband didn’t get his beer he immediately got him one and didn’t charge us for it because he forgot it. This was absolutely the best dinner my husband and I have ever had, I can’t recommend it enough!

The service was good, but the food was just okay and presentation (sloppy sauces and plating) did not match the expectation set by the website, or the price. Blackbird could be alright alone, maybe, but was a bit of a let down for an overnight trip to Asheville.

Aside from the ambiance of the restaurant, this place is overhyped. Our server acted like she wanted to be anywhere except waiting on us. Our food just went downhill starting with the appetizer. We started with the steak and fig board which had a lovely description but it was nothing more than really dry pieces of steak (and not in a good dry aged meat kinda way) figs drowned in red wine beyond recognition. My daughter and I both ordered a salad after this. Her Caesar Salad was fine if you like soft croutons. My farro salad was drowning in balsamic vinegar. I couldn’t taste or see anything in the salad beyond the balsamic vinegar. We decided to stop after those two courses and ask for the check even though we were genuinely hungry. We were openly talking about going back to our room and ordering pizza when the server finally brought me a refill and the dessert menu which we declined. It was quite disappointing bc this is one of the only restaurants I had not been to on my trips to Asheville and I decided to go when I had my daughter with me. I wish I would’ve taken her anywhere else. Aside from all this, there was group of extremely drunk bachelorettes in the dining room that were disrupting everyone’s dinner but no one said anything to them.

We dined here on New Years Eve and we were less than satisfied. First of all, if you’re looking for somewhere with good service, find elsewhere. The service was truly terrible. In addition, none of the servers were friendly. The food was mediocre at best, but the bad service made it worse. Overall, not a great experience but the food was okay.
The food was great, the drinks were great, the server seemed a bit distracted - but otherwise the experience was very pleasant. Would definitely come back.

The entire front of house staff had masks on and we appreciated this. There were air filtration/purification systems in sight, but they weren’t on the highest setting. My partner has the same exact system at their workplace and noticed it was not on the proper setting to work adequately. The most unfortunate part was that we were able to see that the entire kitchen staff did not have masks on. This was unsettling, as we realized this at the end of our meal. The kitchen staff was arguing and yelling during our meal. You would hear yelling and then the same waiter would storm out of the kitchen. We did not feel at ease or safe and would not return during covid. The food was good and the decor was lovely. Hopefully post pandemic we will return, but definitely not in the near future.
