The food was absolutely incredible! Everything was so tasty. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. We were amazed at how quickly the food came out.
A review of the Blackbird has to first start with the absolute over the top service. Our server Penelope made us feel like we were being welcomed in to her home she was delightful, helpful and unbelievably responsive. She was working other tables but it was like we were her only table.
Fast forward to the wine list, Rama the wine steward helped us select a 2012 Camus which was, get this, less than we could buy the bottle in a wine store. Beautifully decanted and helped make the night very special.
The appetizer set the stage; a watermelon, tenderloin steak combination with nuts, leeks, basil and blue cheese crumbles. This is the creation of Chief Michael who says he created it by accident cooking in his backyard on a Sunday afternoon. We have been in restaurants all over the world and this appetizer one of the best ever.
The main course for me was an apple wood smoked pork chop with an amazing sweet potato casserole served in a small iron skillet. My wife choose the Seafood Pirlau, clams, shrimp, Andouille sausage, spiced tomato broth, bell peppers with a rice cake. Over the top great.
One last item the amazing pecan pie was like nothing we had ever experienced. Cooked in a small iron sizzling hot with the perfect amount of ice cream on top, timed so well the ice cream had yet to melt when it arrived to the table.
The Blackbird has earned the right to be called our favorite restaurant.

you must try the coconut cake and the pecan blondie. I swear I'd go there just for the desserts if the other food wasn't so totally awesome too!! skip the coffee though.

Blackbird was so so. The food was very slow coming out and it was a bit too salty. The staff was friendly but I think they were a little understaffed and that's what accounted for the slow food.
We had the 6 course chef’s tasting menu with wine. The wine pairings were quite good with the food but we both thought only 50% of the tasting courses were anything special. The meal starts off on a clunky level with three large pieces of bruschetta which were proportionally too large for a tasting menu. The scallops were good and the tenderloin course was okay if you scraped off the odd chimichurri sauce that had a cream element to it. All in all, one of our less successful meals in a week filled with fabulous food. Perhaps if we hadn’t had an extremely successful, innovative seven course tasting menu two weeks earlier to compare this to, we would’ve been happier at blackbird.
Great dinner on our trip to Asheville! We loved the mussel/clam app, and the scallop and trout risotto was delicious. Great atmosphere!

We each had the chef’s tasting menu. It was delicious and worth the value. The staff was very attentive. We sat early, another large group came in and were a bit loud. We asked if we could move and they moved us with no problem. Wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if it were pre-Covid. Very happy with everything!

Terrence served as bartender and waitperson on what was no doubt a slower night. He made a great Whistlepig Manhattan and then suggested the perfect white wine to go with the local trout and two scallops with lemon beurre blanc and vegetable risotto.
Plus he was funny- and of course, efficient.

Came for our second anniversary. Our server was just ok but the food was great, cocktails were awesome and the chef came out to ask us how our meal was. Overall a good experience!

Service was friendly but a bit haphazard. The restaurant is priced as an exclusive restaurant which is why we chose it to celebrate our anniversary. The decor is pretty ordinary. Food was OK but it was not the fine dining experience we had expected.
Such a pleasant dinner at Blackbird in celebration of my birthday! I wish I could have ordered one of everything on the menu – it was a tough choice. The vegan/vegetarian options are outstanding and truly delicious. We ordered the corn goat cheese pie and the gnocchi; The porkchop was also incredibly tasty. We were a bit disappointed that the kitchen was out of several dishes at 7:30pm on a Tuesday, though. Two of our first picks were 86’d by time we sat down. Thankfully, the server helped us choose solid second choices. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor that can be hard to find in fine dining in Florida.
The food was wonderful but our server was even better. Took a minute to catch on that he had an amazing sense of humor. He really should do stand up. He took special care of us. It was a 40th birthday celebration and he was the icing on the cake. The smoked trout was subtle, the shrimp and grits rich and hardy. The cuban and mushroom pressed sandwiches were to go back for. Drinks perfect

Great food and nice atmosphere. Asheville is still at 75% capacity so restaurant was a little empty. For Sunday brunch it was reservation only.

We came to Blackbird for brunch while visiting from out of town. This is my third dining experience here, because my last two visits were fantastic. The service was good, but we were a bit disappointed that the food was cold when we got it. Everything tasted good, just cold. The Bloody Mary was tasty and the Irish coffee was great.
