Most of the food was OK, but the hamburgers were the worst ever. Truly horrible - two paddies each about a quarter inch deep, overcooked, dry, tasteless. Service very slow - I got my glass of wine 2/3rds through my dinner (and we had appetizers, too, so really slow). Music made me want to scream. View is very nice though and the heaters worked well when the temperature cooled.
Had a great bday dinner sitting in the outdoor patio area. Really great service from Roger and other servers attending to us diligently. Really appreciate that kind of service especially during a bday celebration. Roger went above and beyond to make sure my bday experience was great. A big thanks to him & fellow servers.
The ambiance was really nice too for their newly renovated outdoor patio dining. Definitely a good recommend to friends + family!
When we arrived for our 7 PM reservation, they told us that they did not have a table available on the patio, which was what we made a reservation for. We insisted on waiting at the bar for a table on the patio, and 10 minutes later we were given a table. We were told that there would be a bit of a wait until our server came because he was backed up. 30 minutes later (!!!) I went and told the host we had yet to have a waiter come to our table. There had been miscommunication and our server was not know aware he had our table. Needless to say, it was poorly run.
We both had a bowl of Clam Chowder, good but heavy on the Bacon. Gail had the Boathouse Cobb Salad, I had the Caesar, both salads were good. We then both had the side Salmon which had crispy skin and was NOT overcooked. Shared the Creme Brulee Cheesecake, (best dish of the night). Gail had Margarita, I had Tito's. This was my second visit only because the first visit SUCKED and I felt they could do better.
The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The service was a little slow, but not compared to most restaurants these days due to lack of servers everywhere. We loved the atmosphere and the new remodel (they elevated the deck, so now there's a view). It's one of very few places where you can eat outside by the water in Berkeley. With heat lamps and fire tables, it's a cozy spot to splurge for a night/afternoon out.
The location seemed promising. It is right on the marina. It is a quiet and nice area. The service was non-existent. We waited and waited to order, we waited for our food, and we waited over 30 minutes after ordering a beer once the food arrived. We were sitting 10 feet from the bar tap, and even the bartender would not serve the beer, saying it needed to be ordered by the waiter. She ordered it and stopped by 20 minutes later to say the bartender was "working on it". It was surreal. They were short staffed, and the staff was very inexperienced. There was one very personable and desperate table-busser, but she was on her own.
The food was very underwhelming. Absolutely nothing special or flavorful or interesting. The menu was a minimal. The food was poorly cooked (vegetables very undercooked, and meat very over-cooked). The french fries were fine. Sadly, we will never go there again.
We were seated at a table next to where the dishes were thrown after a meal, noise
totally unacceptable, we requested another table..which was okay...
Had Korean glazed wings, this was very good, management should take note to supply guests who order this to give hot towels or wipes, it's very messy..ended up dipping my cloth napkin in water to clean off hands....rest of meal was bland and disappointing...brussel sprouts were black, mushy and not appealing, Crab Shrimp Roll, dripping with dressing, which made bread soggy, bland, Panna Cotta was the worst I've eaten, and all this for just $80 not including tip...must say our waitress,
Dawa, was remarkable...
I love this place, found this restaurant during COVID and it was one of the very few places that actually allowed you to sit at the bar. I missed going to bars during the lockdown and when I came here I thought it was everything. Try have great service and TV’s.
Food was great, need to go early for better choices of food dishes! The chicken wing was delicious but a little pricey for the portion! French fries was crispy.
It's a lovely place for a relaxed dinner overlooking the marina.
Loved the mussels and French fries. Melley our server was very attentive
We went for our anniversary. They forgot about us. Three groups sat after us got served first and got their food. We waited for over 40 mins for our food to arrive. Wagyu burger was overcooked and cold with a side of cold fries. Best thing is their drinks, which we would’ve ordered more if they gave us the time of day. There was a family of 5 that were checked on at least 7 times, while our waitress was only there to take our order and drop food at our table. Disappointed and not worth going out of our way to go here especially for an anniversary dinner. We were also trying to scout the place out as a wedding venue as well but that’s definitely no going to happen.
We had a great meal outside. everyone here was friendly and kind. We moved to a table with better heat outside and they even provided a blanket for one of our party. The oyster po boy sliders for a starter were great. We also had the crab and shrimp sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich, both tasty, with delicious fries. Drinks were specialties from the menu, generous pours. We will be back again.
Just a very average experience in what might be a nice setting.
A little disappointed because they were out of St. Germain and I couldn’t have a Monkey Business, which is a featured drink.
We had to wait 30 minutes even with our reservation. The menu has only 4 entrees . Also the waiter to a long period of time to serve us even water . The menu is not specific enough because they served me a cold shrimp and crab sandwich but it did not indicate it wa supposed to be cold.
This is a great place to dine without too much noise so you can hear each other talk. Good sized portions and nice views of the harbor.
The menus found *Online* are NOT their actual menu. They have downsized to just a one page menu.
Nowhere online does it indicate that the *three page* menu shown there is no longer offered.
This is a nice setting for *drinks* and snacks, but not for a meal.
Great location. Good food. A little pricey for the level of service, I might go again.
Overpriced for the quality of food. Unnecessarily loud TV and buzzing sound from overhead speakers affected the relaxing ambience of the marina.
Beautiful view and gracious service. Small menu, but we all found something we liked. Nice wine and beer selection.
My son had the risotto and loved it. I had the salmon dinner which was very tasty. We also ordered a side of the asparagus and it was ok but some pieces had no flavor. The servers were all amazing, so friendly and great servers! The setting is beautiful either outside or inside dining. If you do eat outside I would suggest everyone have a jacket or some sort as when the wind blows it gets cold, even with the warmers turned on. We will be back!
Delicious meals on a breezy deck.
Great service and food as usual.
Cold outside on the deck but we were promptly moved inside when we asked.
Beautiful view. Very attentive and helpful staff.
Great food, the view was beautiful, and food and drinks were delish! The wait staff were attentive, funny and kind. Great experience!
We celebrated two friend’s birthdays. It was a joyous occasion and The Berkeley Boathouse was great for celebrating. We each ordered something different; the fried chicken sandwich with fries, the crab and shrimp roll and I subbed the fries for a green salad, and the flatbread with roasted vegetables , all deliciously prepared. Our server Mele was very attentive and friendly. We sat outdoors with our food and wine and enjoyed the beautiful view. We all felt like we are on vacation. A great place with tasty and well prepared dishes. We look forward to going again.
Beautiful spit outside with fire pits and heaters though still bring a jacket! Vegetarian Beet Reuben was shockingly good and even my carnivore wife loved it and ate half. Fries top notch crispy. Cocktails are a bit pricey for $15 but you are paying for the nice view. Well worth it. I live in Berkeley, a place with sad outdoor eating options, so will tell all my friends about the boathouse.
We started with Iced Tea (good); Bay Blues (too Sweet); Tried the Brussel Sprouts (burned); and Garlic Alfredo Flat Bread (Tasty but soggy); She had the Side Salmon (over cooked but tasty) I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich (over cooked and dry, put lots of slaw to try and make it moist) and the Truffle Fries (very good), sent out regular fries when I ordered Truffle, wait person offered to bring garlic on the side, I insisted on getting what I ordered. Shared the Creme Brulee Cheesecake (Really Good),
Will try them again cause the setup is Fantastic and maybe the fry oil was just too hot.
Power was out but they seated us with a glass of wine.
The manager was the best
Always great food and service!
Roger was exceptional during our experience. Host provided us with a nice fireplace. First time here and my girlfriend really like it. Since it is close to home, we are planning to make it our date night spot.
John was so kind and friendly and very welcoming to our group. Checked in on us frequently to see how we were doing. Our waitress Melanie was so kind and thoughtful. Totally catered to all of our needs. Was super helpful with making decisions about our orders. My son was so happy with how he spent his 9th birthday. The food was amazing. I definitely will come back here again, whenever I am in town. Thank you to the Boathouse staff for an amazing experience.
The Boathouse is a great place for a family dinner with small children. The menu is limited but the food is good. Eating outside on a warm night was good. There is inside seating but the chairs have only a small back and are not comfortable for all. Parking is free for 3 hours or unlimited on the street.
Food was decent, service was ok, no sense of urgency. Glad we tried it, beautiful views
Great views on the patio. Fire pit features are nice. Great drinks!
It was just great!!! Chef Mat knows how to please everyone taste … Great staff. Awesome and flavorful Cocktails. It’s always good to come back.
Staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with the menu! Food was delicious. Ordred the risotto, wagyu burger, fried chicken wings, and several desserts. Everything was made well.
The restaurant itself had plenty of indoor and outdoor space, with masking and social distancing in effect so it was perfect for us to dine there ( with a 3.5 year old, and being 30+ weeks pregnant and high risk). Will dine again!
