The entire menu has changed! We were expecting scallops, steak and a nice meal. We got there and it was a lunch menu with burgers sandwiches!!! đđ
Food isn't very good, but the ambiance is amazing!
Great location but won't return. I was massively disappointed that my Manhattan cocktail was $19. I'm local, not on an expense account which many of the patrons of this hotel-located restaurant may be.
Meh. A very limited menu -- I'm not sure if this has always been the case, but it certainly was the case when we visited during the COVID times. We both ordered a hamburger, which seemed to be possibly microwaved rather than grilled -- the meat was uniformly gray.
The setting is lovely. It is probably a place better to have an afternoon drink and snack than a meal.
Staff were very accommodating under the regulations imposed by the pandemic.
They tried to utilize eating outside due to Covid but missed the mark pretty badly. They require you to order inside. The staff is slow and unfriendly. The staff brings out your food in a to-go fashion, looking somewhat lost looking for what table the order belongs to. Food is in plastic containers and lacking any type of value or presentation. Salmon was cold and they failed to give utensils. Since wait staff is non existent you have to return back in to the restaurant for further service. It was really disappointing considering your paying $30 min just for food without drinks.
Wonderful sunset at the waterfront- great wine selection by the glass.
It's hard to find restaurants that have outdoor seating in the Emeryville/Berkeley Marina area. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance (outdoor fire pits) and the prompt service. The only disappointing aspect was eating off of paper plates and using plastic flatware. But, I appreciated the fact that the restaurant has taken all COVID safety precautions seriously. The food was hot and quite good. Already looking forward to going back...
What a view! The space outdoors is perfect. The Boathouse has done a terrific job of turning their Marina facing deck into a âSunset Happy Hourâ during Covid. The only downside, halfway through our drinks, the staff turned off the beautiful music and rolled out a TV on wheels so that another table could âwatch the gameâ. Everything was perfect up until this point. The ambiance was killed and the guests were loud cheering and carrying on about what was on TV. Not sure that sports on a TV outside translate to a âSunset Happy Hourâ as advertised. Iâll give it one more chance, if I walk in an there is a TV on wheels again, Iâm out for good.
The atmosphere is great, right by the trail. However, food is over the counter type...
The food was all packed, potentially pre-prepared, in plastic plates, plastic forks etc... should have been explicit about it. I understand Covid19 requires adjustments, but this removed any pleasure of eating out...
The staff was really nice, and the location is good this being said
Fantastic views and waterfront location = big win! Cheers
The place was nice, however this was not restaurant style, we ordered at the bar, the drinks were not good, the food was not good, I was giving one tomato for my sandwich. One half had and the other half was tomato less. My girlfriend asked what came on the beans soup, the reply was vegetables and she then asked what vegetables and then the reply was the same. The food was delivered in lunch to go containers. Based on pricing this was one of the worst experiences so far...
Stopped by the other night for the first time and couldn't believe I had never gone before! Loved it so much we brought back our friends the next night. The ambiance is absolutely amazing. Food is great. And Luis, the bartender, was friendly, helpful, and makes one hell of a drink! After dinner we enjoyed a nice romantic walk around the marina which is RIGHT THERE. Definitely a must go.
They only had a grab and go menu
Covid - not full service. Very limited pre-made meal menu. Drinks are good. Cool atmosphere! Liked the crab and shrimp sandwich. The wings weren't bad. Skip the burger.
Staff was amazing!!!
Made reservations on open table and verified hours with google. Went out of the way on a road trip to have a nice dinner and it was unexpectedly closed.
They werenât even open but still accepted my reservation and called to confirm it?
Everything was cold and prepared ahead of time!!! No hot meal being served!
Absolutely terrible! There were no servers and no host!
The bar tender was just yelling that it was grab and go only. We left! Never go here! Horrible Experience!
We took 13 people to lunch at the Boathouse. It has a fabulous view and the food was great. I would recommend this restaurant.
Great service and an interesting menu. We ate outside; the view is spectacular.
overall atmosphere was okay - large room, high ceilings. Food was adequate and expensive for what it was. fish was underdone and chicken was slightly overdone. with so many excellent bakeries in Berkeley., not sure what anything less than the best bread ever is being served. Service was prompt although they forgot our coffee.
Beautiful spot on the water great service friendly staff beautiful bar outside Fire pits we went with kids 9$ for a bowl of kraft Mac n cheese menu for adults is pricy and drinks are very expensive we still went back to just the bar for a drink and appetizer just to enjoy the ambiance at night
Service was poor and frustratingly slow and disorganized. Great views and yummy food but we had to seek out staff to get things like silverware, napkins, to give our order, enough plates for sharing.
It was an amazing experience and will come back to visit again!
We love the Berkeley waterfront, and though we love Skates, were delighted to learn that a new restaurant had opened at the marina Double Tree hotel. I have dined here twice, and loved the food both times. The soups are simply outstanding--the corn soup the best I've ever had, and the squash soup also worth ordering whenever it's on the menu. My husband, who loves salumi, said that the charcuterie plate was the best he'd ever had (fortunately, large enough to share, as I love the Cypress Grove Purple Haze goat cheese that was on the board. And our server, Rebecca, was terrific, checking on us, and willing to take time to chat and run to the kitchen to get information for us. We can't wait until the days lengthen and the weather warms so we can eat outside.
We came here for Berkeleyâs restaurant week and OMG I canât even begin to say how great their offer, their food, and their service was! The food tastes modern, fresh, and absolutely delicious! Their restaurant week offer was extremely generous, at 40$ for a 5 course fine dining meal with original-sized portions! Try the unique squash soup, their creme brĂ»lĂ©eâs (which comes in 3 different flavours!), and their lemon panna cotta! YUM! Compliments to the chef and their amazing service!
Our server was very helpful and pleasant
Great soup, Brussel sprouts, chicken wings
Party of 2 for Berkeley Restaurant Week dinner. The sun had set, so not much of a view, but nice ambiance and quiet enough for conversation. Unbelievable value for the Restaurant Week deal, very tasty, and nicely presented. Soup AND Salad AND appetizer, Entree, and Dessert. All of these items were regular size, not small samples, and we each got our own (not "one for the table to share"). Between the 2 of us we had: 2 large cups Roasted Squash soup - yummy; 2 cobb salad - side-sized, chock full of goodies; fried oysters - 8 small korean wings - 8 bone in pieces; 2 salmon entrees - good sized hunk of skin-on fish over pasta pearls with non-everyday veggies creme brulee trio - subtle distinct flavors; and citrus panna cotta - pretty we would visit again.
Called the Resturant to ask for directions and no response. Table bread was so burnt it was not edible. Temperature of food was not hot. My guest were very disappointed and unhappy with the entire service. I heard great things from my Berkeley community and thought to give the location a try, but was left quite dissatisfied.
Birthday dinner and Berkeley Restaurant Week :)
I'd go again to try different menu items, brunch, and outdoor summer meal especially because it's in a great convenient location that is close to scenic walking and at the dbl tree. They renovated since I was last there in 2014 for the better.
Food: Seared Ahi Tuna sucked. I love raw cold tuna. The waiter said it's supposed to be cold even though it says "seared". I describe them as cold tough flavorless blocks. Not a true sear and maybe it needs to be thawed more and thinner slices?
Calamari very well cooked and good flavor but needs more gochujang aioli. Wagyu sliders very good.
There should have been more servers- ours was very good.
Excellent service, great food, nice views, highly recommend
They stop serving breakfast at 11 am very disappointed! I didnât want the dinner menu at 11:30!
Restaurant was empty but they stuck to their breakfast deadline.
I absolutely love The Berkeley Boathouse!
My flight was delayed and we arrived 40 mins before the restaurant closed.
They will still very accommodating.
We sat by the fireplace and enjoyed a few appetizers and drinks.
I'm vegan and they were very accommodating.
I highly recommend and we will definitely be back!
Entree was excellent, absolutely terrific. Salmon could not have been more perfectly done. Dessert was just acceptable....âflight of gelatoâ was 1â sized balls of 3 different gelatos in teensy cones. Sort of cute but way way smaller than other restaurants which also offer 2-3 scoops/scoop lets of gelato...about a third of the size actually. Some of the gelato balls had that odd texture that ice cream gets when it has been thawed and refrozen....not saying that happened, but the texture was off for several, in that fashion. Staff very good, valet service very nice and helpful..
The service was absolutely horrible. And they charged us $40 for the full Thanksgiving meal even though they were out of the soup and completely out of dessert. The meat was dry and overcooked. My friend's meal was never put in so we were done by the time they made it. Our food was lukewarm. They seated us right next to the door to outside. It was 40 degrees out and we froze. Will not be back.
