Afternoon Tea
We are a working family farm that offers country quiet and rural beauty, along with sophisticated dining and unparalleled comfort.

Peace Hill Farm, owned by writer and historian Susan Wise Bauer, is a hundred-acre family farm that raises rare Leicester Longwool sheep, Angora goats, ducks, and chickens.

Our Afternoon Tea & Light Lunch offers you soup, finger sandwiches, sweets, scones, and pastries--plus tea or coffee, of course, along with a full wine list. Linger as long as you like, looking out over working farmland and sheep pastures; add a farm tour with our compliments; eat indoors or out (in nice weather, under the trees; in colder months, in front of the fireplace). Stay as long as you like, breathe deep, and enjoy.

Afterwards, browse our farm store! We produce fiber (fleeces, rovings, and beautifully finished yarns) plus lambs, kids, and free-range duck and chicken eggs.

We offer customized farm-to-table dinners--ask for details

Took my 16 year old granddaughter to celebrate Valentine's Day. She loves (as do I) spending quality time together. Perfect peaceful place to enjoy the amazing food and beverages. She said "I will never forget this day and the carrot soup." We walked around the farm and the animals entertained us. A truly special day for us both. Looking forward to many more outings at Peace Hill.

Afternoon tea was delightful and delicious. The setting was lovely. The drive to Peace Hill was so pretty as it was just scenery from Williamsburg. We were invited to walk the grounds and see the farm animals which was a treat. Everything was perfect.

Beautiful presentation and attentive but not stifling service. The black chocolate tea was also terrific. Unfortunately the little sandwiches did not taste as good as they looked. Not bad. Just not great.

Four of us went to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had the afternoon tea/light luncheon. It was perfect in every way. We were served a beautiful puréed carrot soup first, followed by two different teas and two pyramids that included finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and fresh peach preserves, brownies, and wonderful almond cookies. There was more than enough and we took home two separate containers with leftovers.

I made reservations for 4 for my friends and myself. Unfortunately an emergency came up for me and in my rush I forgot to call and cancel myself from the reservation and let them know it would be just 3. My friends all had a wonderful time and they said when it was time to leave and pay the lady didn’t charge for me and boxed up the food so they could deliver it to me. I have to say it was much needed and very much appreciated. It was a very long day for my husband and myself and we shared the food because it was to late to eat a full dinner. Thank you so much for that, the food was wonderful.

Wonderful historic building from 1889. .great A/C. Beautiful setting in a farm field. Terrific gluten free and gluten sensitive tea choices. Delicious but tiny (quarter size) ham biscuits. Best was the English scone with Devonshire cream and strawberry jam. Delicious tea choices. A bit off the beaten path.

Also recommended to a friend who has reserved an afternoon tea for her and her husband there on her birthday. You have got to try this place.

Nice setting inside. True "Full English Tea", at least as an American would imagine it. Nice place setting for two with cloth table cloths and napkins. Choice of hot tea with strainers, antique tea cups and saucers, three tiered tray with a variety of finger sandwiches on bottom level, scones with cream and jam and small chocolate cakes on second level, and a couple of cookies on third level. Definitely a full meal, we even took a box of the left-overs home. Nice change from normal meal out. It was winter, cold with high wind so we did not walk around. Looks like outside might be nice in Spring/Summer/Fall with animals, crops, etc. They have a craft fair in Nov that sounds like fun and a charming rustic barn/shed-like space for groups in summer. The Chef and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend a visit for "High Tea."

We really enjoyed our visit to Peace Hill Farm. The Bed and Breakfast is beautifully decorated and has lovely private spaces to enjoy afternoon tea. The food was delicious (especially the scone) and the tea was hot and enjoyable. Service was fast and friendly. The only downside I would say was that the house was cold the day we visited, and I would have enjoyed being seated near the fireplace as we were chilly.

My friend and I had a delicious English Tea lunch with finger sandwiches, ham biscuits, scones with fresh strawberry jam and whipped cream and almond cookie for desert. Louise was our hostess and cook and she did a marvelous job. The house is old in years but beautiful and spotlessly clean in appearance. A jewel in the middle of the country in Charles City County. Peace Hill Farm is well worth a visit and culinary experience.
