The Bear & Monarch at Loews San Francisco Hotel
Top-notch service, including a tableside pour and one of the best lunches in the FiDi. I will definitely be back.
Wonderful to have a spot for a business lunch where the noise level is subdued enough to have a conversation.
Another wonderful experience! An out-of-town family member tried the restaurant for the first time and loved it!
The Bear & Monarch never disappoints!
Service was terribly slow. We had one person show up late, and we tried to order for the 3 who were there. However, the waiter did not take our order until all of us were there. I had to leave the restaurant right as we were being served. It was not a good experience.
We went on a Saturday brunch after a workout class and it was empty! Never had brunch in the FiDi before so I think the staff was surprised there were people eating there. Food was overpriced $18+ for an avocado toast , but cocktails were delightful!
Seems like it’s Better for business people
This is my new favorite place for a lunch meeting. The food is outstanding and the flavor profile is remarkable
Excellent as well. As my friend said, you don’t think about walking into a hotel and going to the restaurant and expect to find something so delicious.
This place will make you think twice about that assumption
Great job everyone
Nice brunch spot. Good menu, would have liked fruit instead of potatoes. Omelet was delicious. Great coffee. Great service. Would go back again
I personally would not go back. I made reservations for my team and I and our overall experience was not great. The service was extremely slow, I even asked the manager(2 separate times) if they were busy. His response was no and that we were their only large (party if 7) group. Our dinner turned into a 2.5 dinner and it was not due to conversations going long. I had to request out bill several times as well. I will add everyone was very nice so this may have been an off day. However, being in the heart of downtown and in a nicer hotel I expected more.
Came here for a date night with my husband. Ambiance was very nice - we were sat in a booth and it was very cozy. Service was really slow - took us almost 2 hours to finish out dinner. Food was ok - not worth the price. We started off with the spicy dumplings and focaccia bread with bone marrow. The dumplings and bread were delicious, but bone marrow was forgetful. Hardly anything on the bone. I was very disappointed. For entrees, my husband had the salmon which he liked. I had the seafood squid ink past with uni cream. Comes with a generous amount of seafood, but the taste was just not there. There was something off about it. I think it may have had too much cheese. I was really disappointed because reviews had raved about it. Wouldn't come back for dinner, but may come back to try their happy hour.
It was really delicious and great service
The highlight is the food. It is creative while being satisfying and delicious. The concept is great and the dishes were good. There was only one server for the entire restaurant on a Saturday evening. He had helpers but it took extra time for just about everything: to order, for water, for the check, to get a box for our leftovers, even to be seated. Perhaps someone was out sick. It happens. Definitely was still worthwhile and delicious.
The food is amazing! Will definitely return to try everything on the menu.
Interesting menu, everything was tasty and presented nicely. Service is steady but slow paced so hard to get a quick business lunch. Excellent if you're not in a hurry
Delicious food! Wonderful cocktails. Can’t wait to return
Really appreciate this restaurant. It is convenient, good food for a good price. Thanks!
The service was terrible. The waiter disappeared then the bartender tried to take our order but was not familiar with the menu. Finally, the Maitre D' took the order. The food was average. For $80 each without alcohol, we were disappointed.
I had an omelet for brunch with spinach, onion and cheese. It was really oily and was surprised to bite into meat a couple of times which I didn’t order being vegetarian. Service was hard to come by...
Comfortable spot right in FiDi. Went for HH with some coworkers - enjoyed the tasty apps and drinks. HH goes until 6pm, but the dinner menu is also available starting at 5:30pm... so we ordered from both menus. Although it's a bit loud for quiet conversation, the seating is comfortable and folks are friendly.
We only had time for cocktails and entrees when we dined at The Bear & Monarch. I had pasta and my husband a burger, both delicious, but I wished the amount of food on my plate was a bit more generous. The cocktails were well mixed and service attentive. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes.
Really good and I enjoyed not only the food but the great vibes the restaurant was giving on NYE.
Additional rare fine dining discovery in SF! So happy I chose to celebrate New Year's Eve here! Menu is limited but will not disappoint. Classy decor and ambiance. Staff is very attentive👍
Very nice staff. Food was amazing in presentation and taste. Pricey but worth it.
The food was outstanding! Service was friendly and attentive.
We went fir our Christmas dinner and we all loved our meals! The wine was great!! We loved the tuna tartare tacos! Definitely be back for more of those!! The truffle risotto was wonderful too!! Thanks!!
It was a very long wait. At least an hour. Even for the drinks. But not many other places are open on Christmas.
My Christmas Eve first visit to B&M was an absolute delight. The ambiance was warm and friendly and the wait staff was most attentive. The food was exceptional. Chef Ko’s presentation was straightforward and seemingly Asian inspired. Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection and presented elegantly.
I’m very happy to recommend to all my friends and acquaintances Bear and Monarch, as another culinary treasure in the City of San Francisco. Can’t wait until my next visit.
Bonne ambiance, plats délicieux, service remarquable. Un peu cher tout de même
Incredible! Outstanding! On point across the board...one of the most seamless meals we have had in a long time.
Sincerely,Two hardcore uber critical foodies
Food was great but we had a service issue. We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 main courses. Unfortunately, our server had written everything we order on his note but somehow he didn't order 2 of the appetizers to the kitchen. We received one appetizer and while we were waiting for the another 2 appetizers, he tried to take clear appetizer plates. When we mentioned about other 2 appetizers he went to check his note. He came back and said he made mistake not ordering those??? If you can't remember 6 things in your memory, you write to remember,... If you write, you are suppose to order to the kitchen for us. SO main courses were already ready, and he assumes we don't want them anymore,, we thought we would still need those appetizers to fill ourselves so we wanted those received 20 mins later we received our main courses. Anyway, it was a little not comfortable for us because we were there with a special guest. That server didn't really ask apologies at all. I couldn't talk about it next to our guest so server kind of took advantage of it. I really think we deserve a better serves but we didn't get one and at least apologies!!!!
NEW RESTAURANT HAS MUCH ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT, AND MORE AND MORE IMPROVEMENT
THEY DID NOT FIND MY OPEN TABLE CONFIRATMION (2110103659).
The food was great and cocktails were fantastic, although very strong and on the expensive side. Atmosphere was nice and chilled for a saturday night. I would rate higher but was pretty annoyed when we arrived to find out the rooftop was closed for the season. This was not advised online and we booked it purely on recommendations from friends that it was great for rooftop ambiance.
Lovely experience. Delicious food and great recommendations. There was a bit of a wait with service at times but overall nice! Will visit again!
Good overall. Miss some of the past menu items...especially the salads!
Super cute and we had the place to ourselves for brunch. The food was good, mimosas were good, service was good. Some of the food was maybe not the best but overall
I would say it was a good experience, not lively so if you are looking for a hot brunch spot maybe not the best place. It was good for a more chill time
No. Price is crazy for portions. No bread. Pasta was insanely spicy. Was there for an hour by myself took almost 30 minutes for the wine to come out. Apps 40 minutes. Waste of a night and a waste of 75$ for one person.
I understand it was a Prix Fixe menu & I ordered in the evening (end of service) but the turkey was super dried out. I was a bit disappointed with that. Sides were okay. Was not really "elevated". BBQ'd carrots were amazing.
TG dinner, food & bev was “A”, a 10/10, they did it ALL right!
Had such a great time celebrating Thanksgiving at Bear and Monarch! The food (French onion soup, short rib, and chocolate cake) and wine were wonderful, our server Gus was so attentive and kind, and the ambience was upscale cozy. Would definitely return. Thank you for making our holiday memorable!
