The staff was scarce and inattentive. The truffle chicken was so heavy with garlic, it was inedible. This was our 2nd time here and we were terribly disappointed. Perhaps the Saturday staff is better, but Sunday night’s experience left us seriously considering not returning.

I’ve came to The Basement a couple time for drinks at the bar but tonight was the first time I sat down for dinner. Simply amazing! Party of 6 and everyone had nothing but great things to say. Keep up the good work guys!

Really cool little place, with excellent decor and a nice vibe. The food is very good. The octopus and grilled oysters were excellent. The mussels in the roasted garlic cream sauce were tasty, but the mussels themselves weren't very plump. It's not the restaurant's fault. It happens. I guess my one knock is that our "Tavern" burgers were a bit overcooked. I think had it arrived medium rare as requested, it would have tasted much better. Also, it comes with curly fries, which are not my favorite. We'll definitely be back. The menu is a nice departure from most restaurant menus on Staten Island. Interesting drink menu as well. All in all, it's worth the trip.

Our First visit to an “old FAVE spot” renewed (after many incarnations and iterations) was relaxing and tasty! Beautifully renovated with brighter ambient lighting and upbeat, themed decor - this former location of local sister restaurant, BESO, makes a great statement with diverse menu choices while remaining under the culinary direction of Chef Julian (Bayou, Blu and the aforementioned BESO) and his restaurant group partners.

Amazing food, amazing ambience, amazing drinks. We had the octopus, hummus and rice ball for appetizers. One was better than the next. The chicken martini and the tuna dish were outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely make reservations. Oh and the bread pudding and the blueberry cheesecake were delicious as well

Everything we ordered was delicious. Had scallop special with risotto serving was only four scallops could have added at least two more to make the price of the dish worthwhile. Portion size was disappointing.

The Basement is a hidden gem across the street from the Staten Island Ferry terminal. The food and service are wonderful! We started with great cocktails, followed by steak and swordfish, and for the finale, a delicious crème brûlée! We had a toddler with us and they kindly gave us a booth on the end with a banquette so she could nap! By the time we left at 8pm, the place was packed.

Food was delicious …grilled oysters, fried broccolini, caesar salad, osso buco, chicken martini…all yummy and large portions. Our server, Sean, provided excellent, personalized service as usual. Love this place!
