The Barn At Spring House
Great food and people!
Terrific off-season visit to The Barn....two nights in a row. Emily and Justin were outstanding in providing everything that we would need and the Kitchen produced a welcome and excellent mid-Winter dinner. Such a comfortable and cozy spot. Can't wait to go back.
we had the specials offered that evening ....calamari with a fra diablo sauce and a wood grilled pork chop, both meals were excellent and we were jealous of each others and switched halfway through so as to enjoy both! very comfortable warm and friendly
atmosphere! can't wait to go back!!
We had an outstanding New Year’s Eve experience. I had the cod loin special, and it was the best cod dish that I’ve ever had!
For New Year’s Eve. Rating would have been higher were it not for fair service. Wait person may have been new and seemed nervous. No discourse with the customers. Loved the Sole. Potatoes were too salty. Ambiance was great. Could have been made more “special” for the clientele, given the Holiday, and the cost of boating to the Island. Despite this, I would dine there again. A great Island gem.
My wife and I ate at The Barn on New Year's Eve and it was fantastic as always. I had an excellent piece of steak and my wife had Salmon. Sarah was our server and she was professional and pleasant. Covid precautions were taken seriously and dividers were in place. We actually ate in the closed-in outside area and it was an unexpected treat. The heaters kept us plenty warm and I actually preferred it to the inside, even in the winter.
Great food cooked by great chefs. Thanks for a great dinner again!!! ✌😊
Staff was wonderful and food!
Excellent food, service and setting. Doing a superb job with partitions between tables inside and an heated outdoor patio. The pesto Risotto was ahhhmazing!! Can’t wait to go back.
Lovely Fall evening on porch...holiday lights were so pretty. Food was delicious as always!
The Barn is a Block Island gem. Great food and good service all packed into an intimate setting. Having said that, they have taken great care in separating tables with plexiglass panels and space to address the COVID 19 requirements. If you’re not comfortable with inside, the patio is tented, heated and has good airflow. Enjoy!
Fantastic! Best food on the island. Can't wait to go back.
Our annual stroll birthday weekend. Dinner at The Barn is a must for us. Food, service and the company were the best!!!!
We enjoyed a quiet thanksgiving dinner for 2 at the barn. From start to finish it was amazing. The food, the service and the ambiance were all top notch. Do not visit block island without going to the barn!!!
Dining at the Barn is so special to us. We are quiet season regulars and this is our favorite place, hands down. Chef Brian and the entire team never disappoint. Every course is delicious and the ambiance, even with social distancing, is cozy and welcoming. I adore this place so much. Thank you for another wonderful experience.
We were sat on the outside deck, that has been tented in with heaters. I would have preferred the option to sit inside, but we were comfortable temperature wise, until the end of our meal. I cannot imagine guests dining after us would have been comfortable.
Our server was adequate and friendly. Certainly not the most polished of service; dirty plates left on the table, empty wine glasses etc.
Our meal was very good. We started with a grilled romaine Caesar (outstanding!) and the clams casino (mushy, and under flavored) my date had the papperdelle bolognese, and myself the haddock. Both were delicious & perfectly cooked, presented.
We will definitely return !
Once again, The Barn did not disappoint. Even though there are only a few places to eat out at in the quiet months here, I would chose The Barn if there were 20. Brian and Tom do an amazing job.
Outstanding linguini with clams and grilled romaine with salmon.
Wonderful dinner and ambiance! Very safe with plexiglass at bar
In the present circumstances and in the time of Covid, it is especially appreciated to have a safe and comfortable place where we can go out to eat. Despite the rainy weather and the limitations of space and the situation, the evening spent earlier this week at The Barn was extremely pleasant and warm, with friendly service and choices that were appealing and delicious. Thank you for the opportunity to eat out!
This was our first visit to The Barn. We’re not usually on island in the off-season but I will be sure to make The Barn one of our stops the next time we are. We were seated in the main dining room. I enjoyed the intimacy of the room and it was fun being able to watch the chefs work. Our waitress was pleasant and personable and contributed to our experience. The boyfriend had Baked Haddock and I had Atlantic Salmon. Both meals were delicious. Neither of us left so much as a crumb on our plates. Great job!
Food is amazing. The Caesar salad is off the charts. Very cozy inside. Justin the bartender was wonderful. Had great suggestions. Really funny and kind.
Always a treat to dine at The Barn. Maybe the best filet mignon I’ve ever tasted.
Amazing food and great service! Overall, a wonderful experience, and I definitely plan on visiting again!
Absolutely delicious! And very reasonably priced. Thank you so much!
Great food....really! The bolognese is fantastic and salmon with risotto was just as good (and not usually my fav). Our second time here and will not be the last.
Great food and service.
Dined for Valentine’s Day. Emily, our server was great. The filet special with blue cheese sauce was phenomenal. Should be a regular menu item.
Ah. Tom the master in the kitchen
No disappointment!! and sweet Sarah tending to our table.
Always like to spend the New Year out on Block Island. The Chamber of Commerce suggested The Barn for a perfect New Years Eve dinner choice and they did not steer me wrong. Dined with 2 other dear friends. I had the Sole, my friend had the Filet and his wife had Oysters Rockefeller and the salad and soup. All were cooked to perfection.
The Barn is a special island spot....if you are “from here” you are sure to run into folks you know. If you are a visitor, you’ll soon be drawn into the vibe, talking to a dining neighbor or chatting with Justin or Annie behind the bar- who, by the way, serve up great cocktails...
One can eat at the bar, or in the dining room, complete with a view of Tom at the grill...or eat at the small bar next to the grill..
Food innovative following a grill theme..I had a marvellous grilled eggplant dish...grilled Brussels sprouts another favorite...and try Tom’s stuffies or Thai ribs to start...
Ambiance convivial...I never get tired of The Barn
Thanksgiving dinner was amazing. All 3 of us enjoyed a traditional thanksgiving dinner. I’m glad they let kids in over the holiday. We also went the night before and enjoyed our meal. If you go, get the bolognese.
Thanksgiving dinner! Was wonderful!!!
Wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner. Hoping to make it a tradition.
The food here is simply fantastic. Chef Tom and Able Sidekick Carter are poetry in motion and the results are astounding. We were here during the off season and ended up eating both of our dinners here, trying something different both nights, and were not disappointed with anything. Yes, we were surprised that the earliest we could get a table was 8pm, but it's a small restaurant, and their reputation is well-earned. So plan on making reservations early—and it's worth the wait even if you can't get in there until 8pm.
Everything was delicious! We had some trouble getting to the Barn and they were very accommodating and welcoming when we arrived!
Service was great and the meal was very special.
While we were fairly close to another couple, and the chef is working "in the round," the restaurant is quiet and cozy. We split the stuffed quahog appetizer which were excellent. Carol's salmon was a generous portion of a thick salmon filet. It was moist and delicious. My papperdelle bolognese was hearty, generous, and equally delicious. Service was prompt but not hurried. We were both very impressed. It is soooo nice to find truly excellent restaurants out on Block Island, because in most other places like this there aren't (because they don't feel they have to be all that good). We love Block Island and will be back at the Barn.
Honestly we should have left right after we were approached by the waitress (with no introduction) that we better hurry up and order bc there’s a whole bunch of people that just sat down and we only have 3 chefs. This totally threw us off, but we decided we were not going to be rushed and ordered drinks and a chuterie board first. Again the waitress was itching to take our order.... so we ordered our entrees. Guys ordered bolonase pasta and the girls ordered salmon. Low and behold waitress approaches us and says she made a mistake, the haddock button is right next to the salmon button would we be interested in eating this instead, (bc that’s what she ordered) otherwise they were serving our husband’s entrees and they would have to eat first. We waited patiently. Brussels sprouts were hard as rocks (you can tell they rushed and were not cooked. my gf’s salmon was over cooked and dry (she had the small piece.) The waitress did take this off the bill basically bc she had to, my friend had one bite. The waitress of course apologized stating that people make mistakes and what can you do. Not a great experience. Wine listed was a 2010, she brought out a 2014 and we paid the price that was listed for the 2010 wine. She also proceeded to tell us they had the best wine list...... They do not. We were greatly disappointed the manager never came by and asked us how everything was, or apologized for the ordeal. Quite disappointing. We should have left and went to Winfield’s.
Would recommend ONLY if you can eat inside. Who puts their guests on a porch with inadequate heat in cold weather? Maybe if we'd all worn down coats we would have been happier. Doubt it.
Pork Osso Bucco was wonderful; but the scallop appetizer stole the show. The scallops were seared so that they had a crispy outside with a juicy, tender, sweet inside. They work wonders with the hot skillets. I would go back in a heart beat.
