The Arbour - Pasadena
We came late and the Arbour honored our reservation. We have been here several times before. The food was absolutely first class. Because we came late (9:30pm) the restaurant had quieted downbut it can be quite noisy earlier in the evening.
Excellent service and excellent food. Would come back again.
Great food and very good service. However, the noise level is difficult to have a conversation with our guests.
I love the Arbor, for everyday business lunch or talking lunch with a friend. Their fish is excellent. I ordered the special dover sole, it was prepared in a novel manner which was surprisingly tasty; my personal preference however is for grilled on the bone and that is what my 4 means.
Great staff, menu not terribly diverse, but food was very good. Easy to park, would recommend.
Always a welcoming and delicious experience. Great service!
The Arbour is a fantastic addition to Pasadena. The food was simply divine, the service was beyond impeccable and the atmosphere very pleasant. The design of the restaurant was soothing understated chic.
I could almost say that I have never been in a fine restaurant with such amazing service! There were no long waits at all. This chef driven restaurant serves aesthetically beautiful dishes in original ways with surprising and delectable taste combinations. A perfect place to celebrate. 5 stars all the way!!
Thank you. You deserve to thrive and prosper.
The service and atmosphere were phenomenal. But, with the exception of the truffle encrusted chicken, I was left quite unimpressed with the food. The octopus, artichoke salad, pork chop and sea bass were all very ok. The chili was actually quite good. So, all in all, it's a nice place to go and get serviced well, but don't go for the food.
The chef was able to modify the butternut squash risotto to make it vegan, which was very much appreciated. The waiter made other accommodations to put sauces on the side for the appetizer and brought oil for the bread.
My husband loved the sea bass. He said it was the best he's had.
The happy hour at The Arbour is excellent. We were rather disappointed with our dinner experience. I loved my pasta, and my husband thought his salmon with peas was good, though the salmon was a bit small relative to the peas.
I ordered a Pasadena Sunrise and did not like it. My fault and I was willing to pay for it, I just wanted something else. Our very chatty waiter whisked it away without a word. I didn't ask for it to be removed from the bill, nor would I have. As we were walking out, our waiter didn't say a word to us even though he was standing a couple of feet away. I just don't enjoy service where the person is inserting their personality into the evening.
We won't be back for dinner but will stick to happy hours at The Arbour.
The set price of $79 for the Valentines dinner was way too high for a cauliflower steak entree. Otherwise I was pleased with the experience.
The valentines menu was great
As always, The Arbour Restaurant was outstanding!
Our very favorite place to dine.
Consistently good food, well presented. I have yet to order something there that I did not enjoy.
My wife and I ate an early Valentine’s Day meal and it was great! I wasn’t sure what the experience would be like. The reviews on OT and Yelp were mostly positive but their website does not sell the ambience or the food very well. We were pleasantly surprised. Literally every single thing we had was good. Appetizers, cocktails, entrées, desserts, all of it! Minor quibble that the main course was a little slow to arrive but forgivable. Highly recommend!
Everything about our dining experience at The Arbour was excellent. The dining room is modern California casual elegance. The long bar along the south wall was filled with a fabulous display of bottled liquor. One of the things that made the ambience great was that the restaurant was filled with happy chattering diners. Our party of four ordered hot and cold appetizers (wild mushroom soup, beet salad, seafood salad, iceberg/bleu cheese salad), each of which had intense and delicious flavor. and entrées that included salmon, butternut squash risotto, and truffle crusted chicken breast. Each dish was plated and presented beautifully. Each member of our party had a ball delightfully sampling the wonderful dishes of the others. For dessert we chose the “Baked California” which was a delightful take on baked Alaska only with a frozen candied almond cream center. Finally, I cannot give enough kudos to our server Garrett, who was perhaps the most pleasant, accommodating, and professional server that I have experienced in many years. He made our dining experience especially enjoyable.
A wonderful pre-Valentine's dinner. Attentive service and delicious food. Bison tartare to start and BlackBerry lemon curd dessert were our favorites.
Spacious and attractive decor. It must be standard to try to seat early diners in an undesirable table next to service station as we saw this occur with several early guests. Food was very good except for dessert. Lemon curd over berries was far too sweet to enjoy, and cheeses on cheeseboard were good, but chef should consider replacing the small rounds of bread with crackers or quality bread in small slices. A few slices of fruit and perhaps a small dollop of not-too sweet fruit spread would enhance the plate. The bus boy was good; our attractive brunette waitress smiled a lot but was not at all engaging in small conversation. Very unusual for a high end restaurant. All in all, we really liked The Arbour and might opt for a different server next time.
Ian is an exceptional chef and the service is excellent
The Arbour is very consistent in providing an outstanding dining experience. The menu is varied, and the quality of the food is consistently very very good. The wine list provides something for everyone too. The servers are courteous, and they are helpful in explaining the various items on the menu. An excellent spot for lunch or dinner.
The Arbour delivers a great dining experience, from excellent professional service to outstanding food. Love going there.
Terrific but high corkage for wine we brought.
Imaginative menu, locally sourced foods when available. Outstanding and friendly service. Very clean and very fast.
Great food and service!
The food was tasty, and ambiance was enjoyable. Be warned: The food’s a bit on the heavy side. Service was slow but still attentive. Overall, I would recommend for a cozy dinner.
My Friends and I enjoyed our lunch get together. Our meal choices varied and everyone seemed to savor their meal. Portion size for some choices were small but the hamburger was huge. I enjoyed my chicken but a few more fingerling potatoes would have be nice.
Definitely a go-to again place. Nice ambiance, fireplace, bar and ample seating. They even have a private dining room for small parties.
Courteous, professional wait staff. Everyone is friendly.
Thank you for bringing back the Salmon!!!!
Food was very good, but another restaurant that wants your full order. We find this a real turn-off and let our waiter know, so he let us order one course at a time.
Great food and great service! Thank you and wish you continued success!
Excellent food portions decent size and easy to share
The biggest issue with The Arbour is the noise level. I took friends there to celebrate a birthday and even though we were in the front room, the noise level from the bar area was so high, it was difficult to hear. Our server failed to take our drink order and we had to flag down the hostess for both our drink and food order. I love the farm-to-table concept and the food was great, but not sure I’d recommend it to others.
Food was creative and delicious. Server was good; however we felt rushed. There were plenty of tables available.
Celebrating new house!
Wanted to try this restaurant based on the reviews. The parking is rather strange. You have to walk through an adjoining building with rather smelly bathrooms off the hallway. This hallway dumps you right into the kitchen of the restaurant. The kitchen and rest of the restaurant are very well done. We were impressed with that but we had to make our way to the front by squeezing by tables and people eating.
The waitstaff was great. The service was good. The food was a bit salty though which was surprising for a restaurant with such good reviews and prefaced as local, fresh ingredients. The excess salt just didn’t make sense. Last, The baked California dessert did not arrive flaming as we expected. That was a big let down...it was blah.
We were originally sold on the farm to table idea. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was decent but was a little too much use of the trendy foams (that weren’t really needed) for our guests to enjoy.
Not sure if we will return....
We celebrated a special occasion on this visit. After considering a number of amazing restaurants in Los Angeles, the best choice for delicious food, beautiful decor, and warm hospitality on this important night was clearly The Arbour. I'll be dreaming about the Yellowfin Tuna crudo and the Dover Sole pinwheels for the next week. As a special touch, Chef prepared an off the menu special Rack of Lamb, which was tender, flavorful and deeply satisfying. Desserts are a specialty here and not to be missed! Above all, service was attentive and warm. I noticed the restaurant was full of families and groups also celebrating special occasions, The positive energy and kind spirit in the staff starts with owners, Chef Ian and Nancy Gresik. The Arbour is the perfect community restaurant to gather while enjoying high quality, seasonal cuisine. I highly recommend this local gem and am already looking forward to returning.
They were so nice to sit us at the Chef's table. My parents had a blast! TY so much!
I have eaten at The Arbour at least half a dozen times, and the food seems to get better and better. We dined with another couple who were new to The Arbour, and they raved about their meals. One of our biggest complaints about The Arbour when we first dined their was the noise level, but it seems that they have taken steps to dealt with it. We sat in the main dining room adjacent to the bar and it was quiet although the restaurant was busy on a Saturday evening. Nice to have more elevated dining choices in Pasadena.
Great food and service. We had Bridgette as a server top notch her suggestions were right on. We have been eating there since it opened and never a bad evening.
Great restaurant with novel and delicious menu and impeccable service. The decor is light and rich with light earth tones and grays and excellent acoustics.
