We didn’t have no service from staff we eventually after waiting decided to order ourselves. Chips overcooked & curry sauce I mean horribly watery, greasy & not able to eat

The restaurant in the pub was pleasant and the guy who served us was very likeable and attentive. However, in relation to the mains, two of us ordered the same roast course - the Mushroom & Spinach Strudle with vegetables but we were given completely different vegetables! The Roast Potatoes were not properly cooked and were hard which roast potatoes should never ever be. The red cabbage was salty. I did not receive the advertised Yorshire Pudding and there was some object that was like a savoury flapjack which I think was supposed to be stuffing but was nothing like stuffing either in taste nor texture. One of the two Mushroom & Spinach Strudles was cold. My wife enjoyed her Ham-based roast. Then the suites. First, we were told we would have a long wait for the two Cherry & Almond Pies because of a large group booking. So I asked that my ice cream should be brought at the same time as the pies. That was almost achieved although I had finished it by the time one Cherry & Almond Pie arrived. However, only one arrived leaving one person with no suite. We were then told they could make her another one if we waited 8 minutes. 20 minutes later, they had still not made it and we cancelled it from thr order. So the guy serving us gets full marks which is why I paid the expensive service charge (over 10%) but the kitchen get about a 4 out of 10 if I am generous. We would eat there again maybe although not the same order. But it was a disappointing experience and the attitude of the kitchen was very poor. Only the guy who waited on us cames out of the experience well.

Hi Neil, Really sorry that things were a bit stretched in the kitchen on Sunday we had a wedding party in the garden which pushed everything back. Thank you though for the feedback and we hope to welcome you another time. Team Angel Oak

I've been to Angel oak many times before and the food and service were good previously but when I returned on Sunday with some friends, the service was average and food wasn't that great this time around. My friend asked the waiter about allergens about the batter fish and he didn't know much about it, and responded "I'm not sure" and told us to scan the QR code even though my friend said she already checked but wanted to double check. He then asked the chef. So fine. She then told the waiter to not put the peas on the plate and keep it separate in a small pot and that she would have the peas instead, because her son may be allergic to it, when it was served to her, the peas were mixed in with the rest of the food. When the waiter came over and asked if everything was fine, my friend told him about the peas, and he went and checked the order he wrote down and showed it to my friend and said "you see, I wrote it down so you can't blame me yea?" That comment was so shocking. Instead of asking if her son was ok and offer another dish or a refund, he was trying to cover his back instead. We were so shocked, we didn't know what to say to that. Also the roasts that we had were all quite bland and not enough flavouring and the gravy was lumpy. I was also so surprised at how much salt was put on the kids fish and chips, that they didn't end up finishing it. I hope this was a one off, but i hope my feedback can be taken on abroad. Thank you!

Hi Linda, Thank you for the feedback, sorry about the comment i feel that was a failed attempt to be humorous from the team member... Our team are trained to refer to guests to the QR code as this has all the up to date information for allergens so as to limit any uninformed information. I have passed your comments onto the kitchen. Team Angel Oak

unfriendly staff on arrival, no atmosphere The menu offer outside the pub was not available due to lack of staff It seemed many things on the menu were not available which was not explained when we sat down and got drinks We asked for the crisp and harissa dip whilst we looked at the menu which wasn't available and were given 3 bags of crisps The steak that was ordered was good but the other meals were not 2 choice of desserts all in over priced when you consider service and ambience

Went for Sunday lunch, had the big 4 meats and a Veggie wellington. All the portion sizes were good One of us had a burger. We all ate everything. It was nice but nothing tasted wow, Dessert best for me the maple and pecan sticky toffee was right up my street. Staff very pleasant, nice venue with lots of seating in and out Plenty of people came in as we were there. Kid friendly dog friendly. Cost was probably on Par for the area. If I went back the fish and chips looked good so would try that.

Waw sat next to my friend whilst eating rather then opposite so could not really have a conversation TV was far to load as football was showing Not really appropriate for a pub serving Sunday lunch. Won t be returning in a hurry
The Angel OakResponded on February 27, 2025
Hi Christopher, Apologies for the not so good experience on Sunday lunch, on your next visit please leave us a note on your booking that you would like the booking to be in our restaurant area, away from our bar area and your experience will be on a different level. Hope you give us another try soon. Best regards Team Angel
