An immense amount of salt in the food.
We really enjoyed our first time at The Allis and will be back! The banana bread was great and we all loved the brunch dishes we ordered. The Egg’s Benedict Royale was one of the best salmon benedicts I’ve had. The only issue was our server wasn’t very attentive and we sometimes had to ask for something (coffee, bottle of sparkling wine) twice. However the server who took over for him was really great! Definitely recommend going here!
Loved the atmosphere and set-up of the space! I had the avocado toast which was great with the added spice to take the flavor up a notch! Also, they had oat milk as a substitute for coffee which I appreciated!
The Allis is a dreamy restaurant with a great quality of food, nice ambiance and location. Love my experience as a whole.
Overall a good experience, but had to send two of the four things we ordered back cause they weren’t good. But they took them off our bill without us even asking.
My bestie and I went for brunch. Always great options for whatever you might craving.
Afternoon Tea, great atmosphere, delicious food, totally fun afternoon! Can’t wait to be back in Chicago for another trip to Allis. We saw regular food items being delivered to other tables, those looked great too!
The atmosphere was great. The food and tea were excellent. The service was also great. I would say if you
are looking for quiet ambiance this might not be good for you. It was a bit loud.
I love The Allis for its ambiance & delicious yet overpriced cocktails. The food has never been great & I’ve been going since they opened. Most recently, I brought my niece in for late lunch and we had burgers that were so salty, they were difficult to eat. Tepid fries with a sauce which was meant to be an Aioli but was all vinegar. The staff always seem overly aloof, but this visit, we had 3 different servers, all unfriendly or unhappy or just kind of rude. Essentially I’ll keep coming back for the beautiful room & cocktails, but will never waste money on their food again, and with all the new options in the West Loop, they might want to step up their game.
Always a great meal with fresh ingredients & beautifully presented in a great setting !!!
Our waiter was amazing!!!
Afternoon holiday tea
Service was very slow, food was consistent and ambiance is always nice! I recommend ensuring that tea cups are throughly washed as they had very evident tea stains on the inside, which can and should be fixed. Thank you!
I love here, so cozy.
And food was good quality.
Very beautiful place with okay food but poor service. We had to wait for our coffee about 30 minutes and for our food even longer.
Afternoon tea with my mom visiting from Canada over the Christmas holidays. Though I made the mistake of booking a 1:45pm reservation (tea service is from 2-4pm on weekends), the Allis graciously accommodated us.
Service was uninspired/spotty and while the snacks served with tea were fresh and decadent, it was weighted heavily on the sweet side (too much so we concluded). Tea service itself was lovely but even getting more hot water was difficult so we gave up and got our bill.
Disappointing because it’s a fun spot with a good ambiance and perhaps better for brunch but on this day, we left wishing we had gone somewhere else for the occasion.
My niece was in town for the holiday weekend. She had never had the experience of afternoon tea and it was great! Really enjoyed the ambiance, food and tea. I would recommend this place fir afternoon tea and will be back to try dinner the next time!
On a family getaway to Chicago and taking my daughter to her first High Tea. The Allis was so beautiful, we loved enjoying all the beautiful decor and style. The tea was wonderful and the food was plentiful! We had leftovers. Everything was wonderful!
I went to the Allis with my friend two weeks before Christmas for afternoon tea. We sat down at the tail end of tea and the hosts and our server went above and beyond to ensure that we had a picturesque afternoon tea, even though it was the end of the service. All of the treats were delicious and the tea, from Rare Tea Cellars in Chicago, was warming on a cold day. I'm not a member of the Soho House (someday!) and love that anyone is invited to tea. I would definitely recommend checking out tea-time on a girls day!
Great service and ambiance
Had a wonderful time at The Allis! Very festive and the service was amazing! Thanks to Tory for the sea salt chocolate chip cookie! Can't wait to come back!
Tea was ok not great. Sweets dominated with very few savories
Awesome experience! A must for your trip to Chicago.
Was there from breakfast thru lunch for business meetings. Staff was tremendous and so accommodating. Can’t wait to go back!
Very nice ambience and pretty good food!
Downstairs cafe was a great place to meet up for a business meeting and grab coffee. Could have a private conversation. Wait staff didn’t rush you along, but appeared timely with the check when you were ready to depart.
Good experience. A little crowded but it was brunch. Also, our toast was charred but the rest of the food and drinks were great.
Love the Allis! Cool, beautiful setting, great service, unpretentious, and really good breakfast menu.
Went for breakfast with my husband to kick off our anniversary. Great experience, ambiance and wonderful staff. Highly recommend. Menu has items appealing to all.
Excellent food and ambiance. Unfortunately, service was quite poor
Wonderful afternoon tea in a cozy trendy setting
Our server, Matt, was excellent - friendly, attentive, good recommendations. Overall the service was great. They were very flexible when we needed to adjust the size of our reservation before a casual happy hour/dinner and on the day.
Wine was great; food pretty good but not outstanding.
Very nice design and environment! Staff is friendly and nice. Food are nice, especially the beef.
Service was not that good that Sunday. Our waiter did not do a good job...late, absent, not reliable...
It’s beautiful restaurant with small menu but delicious menu and their service is impeccable!
I wish they did less cake and more food in their afternoon tea! Too much cake for one person and only two tiny finger sandwiches!
Girlfriends celebrating the thanksgiving holiday with lunch and pedicures after we’re disappointed the food available was either breakfast or high team at 3pm on a Friday.
Our poor server was only a day on the job and the bar seemed perplexed by our drink order: Cabernet doesn’t sound like Chardonnay, veuve cliquot should not be flat, and Pinot noir should not be Pinot Grigio. Usually love this place but this time it was off its game. And for $167 for 3 so Without tip— that is a shame.
We’ve been coming to the allis for two years now and recently each visit has been more and more of a let down.
Service is terrible. Made a reservation for a certain time that was confirmed 3 times, just to arrive in time and still not be seated until almost 30 mins past our scheduled time. What was the point of taking a reservation if it was not planned out on their end?
Our waiter came by our table maybe three times. No one checked on us, no one filled our water or asked if we needed more drinks.
Our food took super long to come out, and it wasn’t busy at all. In fact at one point I counted 10 wait staff standing around - not checking on anyone and not paying attention. They were all too busy talking to each other.
Food was ok. Bummed to pay so much for a piece of salmon that was no bigger than my hand with no side offered with it 👎
Overall it was just a terrible experience. We were there for so long it was hot and miserable and we just didn’t feel cared for like we thought we would be - or normally would have been when we first started coming.
Don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.
It was on Thanksgiving. I thought I was booking Thanksgiving dinner but after arriving I found out that it didn’t start till 2 o’clock and our reservation was at 12 noon. But Erika the manager of the bar was super awesome she comped our whole brrunch because we were disappointed it wasn’t Thanksgiving dinner everything was amazing she gave us free champagne and they couldn’t of been nicer I will definitely go there again.. And the food was delicious
It was my girlfriends birthday. The afternoon tea was a memorable service to experience on a special day like this.
Thank you for the ice cream with a candle at the end for that special touch for us.
