   One of the best restaurants in Chicago. The food is phenomenal. The staff is attentive without being overbearing. I have gone two weeks in a row and both times have been nothing but perfect. Love the cocktails and the space is beautiful. They literally could put 12 more tables in there but give everyone ample amount of space-allows you feel like you have privacy. An absolute treasure.

   Such stellar food! Sadly the strange and Grubhub-lik/QR code ordering system sucked a lot of the joy out of the dining experience, with the server/customer interaction being reduced to them being a mere delivery service. One of the many downsides of a QR code menu is that everyone is always looking down at their phones during the meal, instead of interacting with each other – something many of us look forward to avoiding when we dine out as we all do so much phone-gazing during our regular lives. And Thattu at dinner was a terrific cautionary tale: as we looked up from our phones, while ordering, paying and reading about the food, we could see almost every other customer around us gazing down at their own phones throughout their entire meal. I hope the culinary prowess of this chef will continue to shine but we won't be going back.

   I will preface: the food at Thattu is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The experience overall, however was very average. I will note that this is likely due to misaligned expectations on my part rather than anything that Thattu did (or didn't do). The space is very casual. The servers, who were prompt and professional, will tell you the day's specials, bring the food, and fill up the water, though that's about it since you order via the Toast app and a QR code. If you're going with a group of friends and want great food while chatting - Thattu is an excellent choice. As a date spot, I felt it left something to be desired.
