About this restaurant

Terroni Adelaide, formerly the York County Courthouse, is a multi-level heritage structure built in 1852. Just inside the doors is the Enoteca with its towering columns, a great spot for cocktails. Beyond is the main dining room, with a sunlit atrium, fireplaces on each end and private rooms all serviced by an open kitchen where our chefs prepare traditional Italian fare. In summer, the secret garden patio opens for al fresco dining in the heart of the city.

Head down to the Cantina Wine Cellar where you will see the original courthouse cells now used to store our Italian wine. The second floor houses the grand Sala da Pranzo and Bar delle Carceri, named after the cells below. Il Covo degli Artisti, our third-floor space is a cosy lounge once home to The Arts and Letters Club where Canadian landscape painters “The Group of Seven” ate and drank in 1909.

    Service was so slow! Our server barely came to the table. We had to flag down other staff twice to get our bill after waiting so long. Ended up going somewhere else for dessert and drinks.

    I’ve been eating at Terroni for over a decade. As always, the food is amazing. The service wonderful, and the atmosphere welcoming. What made this visit so special was discovering the upstairs which is stunning. A beautiful spot for any occasion.

    One of the best places in the city for fresh pasta! Fresh ingredients, excellent wine selection and to die for Italian desserts!

    The Adelaide location was nowhere near the experience we've had at the Queen Street location. Different vibe for sure, and we sat outside, which should have been pleasant, but actually was kind of boring. Worse, the food really was very dull. The lettuce, for example, was limp and watery, the grilled calamari hardly worth eating. The wine was very good. Service picked up when we finally got the server to respond to us less stiffly. He was tired, the heat had just let up, understandable. But I won't go to the Adelaide location again.

    I've been a Terroni customer dating back to the 90s. It still remains one of the best authentic Italian restaurants in Toronto. The food is consistent regardless of the location. The servers are some of the most professional and knowledgeable in the industry. Great selection of wines. In fact, Terroni introduced Primitivo wines from Puglia to Toronto. The prices continue to be affordable. If you want to have a good meal and leave satisfied then Terroni is the place.

    what a disappoitment. the food was mediocre at best. we were looking forward to a romantic meal while visiting toronto; and we ended op with a extremely loud restaurant with poor food and unable to talk to each other across the table. never again

    It was extremely hot and humid in the restaurant. The staff is aware of it, however the restaurant does nothing to solve this asides letting customers know its hot inside. The seats were very sticky

    Thank you for your feedback & 4 star given for food. The record breaking heatwave across the city has affected many businesses and homes. We have cooling systems in place and have been actively addressing this matter. As a historical location with incredibly high ceilings has made it more challenging for us on the main floor. Our upper floors cooling system have not been affected. We thank you for your feedback & ask for your patience and understanding that we are addressing this.
