   Food was very good and atmosphere nice. Just disappointed at the elimination of any Gluten Free bread or toast as a choice for my fav avocado toast and other choices on the menu. Most more upscale restaurants & cafes absolutely have choices...moreso than ever, esp for those intolerent to the indigestible protein in wheat. There are so many other grains that can be used in bread and baking....more healthier and superior to white flour.

   Very disappointing experience. In the past we’ve always had a great meal and professional service. Average food and terrible soup. The store and cafe are very run down, bathrooms were filthy. I guess they’re planning to close. Doesn’t matter, never going back.

   We haven't been to Terrain since the pandemic. Im wondering if there are new owners? The short rib was a little dry. The entrees were not served on pieces of wood or a unique way. Also, the bread in the pot was not as good. The butter was fantastic. I guess most of all the presentation pieces that made Terrain so unique were missing. The store was great! Sincerely,

   We really enjoyed our brunch at Terrain. The setting was really nice and food was delicious. The bread and red pepper/garlic butter was very good and so fresh. The menu had all local ingredients which I always love.

    First, our server Benjamin was fantastic. Friendly and very helpful. His recommendations for what to select for food and wine were spot on. If you go, ask for one of his tables. And then the food itself was so good. Between the starters , salads and mains the 4 of us were all very happy. Didn't have room for dessert sadly. Maybe next time

    I have dined here many times. It is always a wonderful experience with incredibly delicious food. The waiter, I believe his name is Alexander, was outstanding and could not be more accommodating. He checked on us frequently and always with a big smile. After we paid our bill, he handed us each a 20% discount card off purchases. Yes, we went directly to the beautiful shop where we happily used our discount cards. Thank you Terrain.

    A great destination for those that love plants, love being surrounded by them, and love shopping for them! The inventive brunch menu was garden themed and built into the Terrain retail store with plants used for creating privacy. Cute touches like the fresh baked breads served in terra cotta pots. The lavender crush cocktail and blueberry mojito were great; The lavender garden spritzers we had later were plain like there wasn't enough flavor used. Shopping before and after were a plus - plants, pots, gardening tools, candles, soaps, and all kinds of gifts were everywhere. I think we spent one hour on brunch and two hours shopping, we then went to downtown Westport for more walking and shopping and made a day of it. It's an hour away from central CT but I'd definitely go back.

    I was so excited to take my mom to Terrain cafe for an after mother's day lunch. I was incredibly impressed with the food and pleasantly surprised by the amount of food we got and the total cost. we ordered 4 entrees, an appetizer, a dessert, a coffee, a latte, and 2 drinks and was so pleased with the very reasonable price of the meal. plus I had leftovers.     Very hit and miss this time; pasta stuck together in the scallop main course, and a peculiar mix of crudite alongside the bland hummus appetizer. The grilled lamb was tasty (although would be better, and more accurately described as a merguez sausage) but the coulotte steak a bit tough, even ordered medium rare. Great friendly staff, the kitchen needs to stay on their toes.

    My husband and I went for my birthday - it was a perfect choice. Delicious farm to table style menu items and cool vibe. Spring Awakening cocktail was perfect as was the lemon hibiscus dessert! Thank you for curating such a lovely experience!

    Farm to table vibe is hit and miss. The garden retail setting is gorgeous, lush and unique. But tasteless dishes featuring Asparagus… toes? Eye rolls by staff when asking for water? There’s some room for improvement.

    I made a reservation for 4 people about a month ago for a mothers day brunch. About a week ago my wife told me she wanted to see if we could invite her mother as well and to see if we could add one more to our reservation. I called a week in advance to ask and was told by a rude hostess that this would not be possible.  She informed me that, “there is no way to add another chair to the table” and, “outside seating is full”. So I decided to try emailing your company. My email was responded to and I was told it would be sent to the staff in Westport for them to respond…which they never did. Then I called again a few days later to ask again.  This hostess was nicer but still informed me, “it is not possible to add another chair”, “we are completely booked”, and, “it is against fire code” to seat 5 at a table. They were very apologetic but would not allow another person to be added.  So we did not have my mother in law come to brunch and decided to stick with our party of 4.  When we arrived this morning at 9:30 they seated us in an almost empty room right next to a table with 5 people sitting at a, “4 person table”. The exact thing we asked for and was told, “was not possible”. There was 1 party of 2 outside and from what I counted about 12 open tables for the entire hour and a half that we were there. My wife and I are very disappointed at the fact that we were lied to numerous times. We simply wanted to add 1 person. Please know that we were very happy with our waitress today and the food but your hostess staff was very rude on the phone and clearly lied to us. We are very understanding people but, It’s unfortunate that we were not able to celebrate this special occasion the way we wanted to because we were told this was not possible.

    I live about an hour and a half and have heard nothing but great things from coworkers and friends, so I made a reservation for 3 pm and drove down with my boyfriend. When we arrived, we saw a sign on the door that said they were closing at 4, we were under the impression going in that we would just eat quickly and get out of their way (it rarely takes us an hour to eat somewhere). We went to the hostess stand and she informed us that she wouldn’t be able to seat us as they were closing early for renovations. Another employee then came around the corner and told her she could seat us. We brush it off and laugh about the miscommunication with the hostess as she’s seating us, but as we are walking to our table we see a waiter, look at his watch and put his hands up in frustration. I work in the service industry, and I understand how frustrating it can be when someone comes in so close to close. However, both my boyfriend and I were honestly stunned that he did that right in front of us. The waiter that we had was absolutely amazing, and I wish we got his name. He was thoughtful and so personable. We told him that we had a nut allergy, and even though our food didn’t contain nuts he told us he would write it on the ticket just as a precaution- which we really appreciated! When our food came out though my Caesar Salad had literally one single almond on it. I’m not looking for any sort of compensation or anything. I’m writing this email just to let you know rather than write a review. I meant to write this earlier in the week but I feel like if I owned a business I would want to know. I’m sure everyone was just excited about getting out early, which I totally get. But, I struggle to understand why no one contacted us if the early closure would affect us seeing as they had all of our information from our reservation. If someone had given us a call, we would have rescheduled rather than drive almost three hours to feel extremely unwelcome and like a burden

    Nice place co-located with indoor nursery. Had sunday breakfast, beware of the quiche if you have an appetite - would be more accurately described as mini-quiche. Service good but not particularly friendly. Spacing of tables is tight along main serving path, while we were eating after being bumped into twice by waitstaff I pushed the table & chairs behind me further away to alleviate that problem. Would go back IF my wife insists.

    Beautiful atmosphere… such a lovely place to dine among all the greenery . Staff was so pleasant and service was excellent. Food was just so-so. I had steak coulette that was really tough … a jaw exhausting tug of war…and flavorless . My guest had halibut that was very fresh but flavorless. I love Terrain, but food was just mediocre. Your restaurant is so exceptional in its ambiance … no need to weaken your product by food that falls short of your ambiance. Simple things … a better cut of beef… charge a little more… cut the slices on the bias and cut them a little thinner … this helps with the tenderness. Only flavor on the steak was salt… have a little sauce, red wine reduction… don’t rely on salt only as flavor. Halibut seemed like too large a piece that could have been prepared better. Such a lovely restaurant … don’t get too comfortable relying on gorgeous atmosphere w so so food!

    We sat outdoor which was nice since it was quiet compared to indoor Dinning area The food was OK. Nothing spectacular but not too expensive either. A few vegan options but to my taste they were too salty.
