Fahita and Burrito were very good. The Shrimp tacos were overcooked and a skimpy amount. Would have been nice to have a complimentary bowl of chips to have with drinks while waiting for the dinner as most Mexican restaurants do. Also, the sangria was tiny.
So nice by the river with propane fire torches, decorated for Halloween! Food was delicious! Great margaritas too. Also had live music band duo
Who knew this place even existed, but I’m glad I found it. VERY good Mexican food. Margaritas are good too, but not as good as some of the local places nearby, hence the 4 stars. Yet, don’t let that deter you from trying this place. Outdoor dining right on the CT river with live bands on the weekend. Apparently there is indoor seating too (it’s in an office high rise), will need to try it out in the winter months. Fun and relaxed atmosphere!
Beautiful view of the CT River. Singer had a great voice and added to the ambiance of outdoor dining. Excellent food, but the margaritas lacked flavor.
It's wasn't busy yet the waiter was inattentive to the point of being rude
Server greeted shortly after being seated and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. 3 appetizers were ordered. Crab empanadas, chicken empanadas and quac/salsa. The chicken empanadas and quac/salsa arrived first. My friend waited until the crab empanadas were brought to the table to start. Upon taking a bite she immediately tasted crab. By shining a light we could see there was definitely some crab meat in the chicken empanadas. The server came back to check and immediately took away the plate to make it right. At this point the owner was walking through the tables and I did let her know about the cross contamination and she thanked us for letting her know and continued on her way to other tables. Having worked in the industry I would have expected her to immediately advise the kitchen of the error to ensure nobody got sick.
Entrees arrived, I had ordered the swordfish tacos but had been advised they were out of swordfish and would be subbing mahi mahi, my friend had ordered the shrimp tacos and the third had ordered quesadilla. The mahi-mahi was not blackened and cold when it came to the table as were the rice and beans sides. There was an overwhelming fishy smell which we realized was the shrimp, it was also cold but had a slimy texture of shrimp that had been thawed and then cooked and then allowed to get cold too long. Again the server took away the offending dish but at no time did the manager come over to apologize. We could actually see him at this point eating a taco in the food prep area.
All in all the setting and service are great but the food crossed from “not good” into “potentially harmful”. Will not be back.
It was a beautiful night for outdoor dining. We arrived before sunset and enjoyed the view of the river. Portable heaters made the temp perfect. The band was great and made the dinner more festive! Colin was our waiter and he rocked it! Drinks were great, and the food was awesome! Food all came out at the same time, was hot and delicious!!!! Fajitas, quesadillas , shrimp tacos and tuna. All excellent. Loved the variety of sauces on our chips as an app. Really really had a fabulous night. Restaurant owner stopped by as well. ☺️👍🏼👍🏼
Great experience, music and food was great. Service was exceptional
Steaks were so charred that almost half of it was not edible. Was really a let down considering the location and setting. Won’t be returning for a second round.
Great place, a little pricier than we expected, but worth it
Started with drinks and chips and quac. Everything was fine. Good came and it too was good. The only problem was the ratio of table size to plate size. The table was not big enough to accommodate the huge plates. They literally hung a third off the table. It was awkward. Server was ok not fantastic.
Great service, food, and location. Perfect night out!
Our whole experience was terrible! It took over an hour to come out after We placed our order! All the food was cold and we had to send it back to the kitchen and have them remake our orders again! The best they were willing to do was offered the table around of drinks and the house, and that was still unacceptable. We will never dine in there again!
I am truly sorry that you had a bad experience; it is not who we are.
The food portions were good and I enjoyed my meal. The server çould have more attentive with our needs, i.e. water or drinks. The burritos should probably have been served with rice and beans. The drinks tasted more like a juice than an adult drink.
Beautiful location, yummy food and great margaritas! Service was friendly and fast.
Nice enough out on the river and there was some acoustic music which was nice - but the food is just not good.
Loved the atmosphere and our waiter was great but we were shocked when we got the bill. We ordered the queso app for $6 but when the bill came, they also charged us $4 for chips which was not stated on the menu. You would think that an order of queso would include chips. The chicken fajitas were excellent and the sangria was delicious.
Beautiful venue and atmosphere, wonderful service!
Thanks Annie, reviews like yours make our staff (and us) feel great. Please come back very soon!
The food is amazing, drinks were delicious. Band made it really fun. Outstanding value. Good scenery. Hostess even came around with bug repellent wipes as sun set, though we didn't feel any bugs.
Thank you for your very kind review! We hope we will see you again very soon.
Musician was awesome as was the meal
An enjoyable evening and delicious food for our group of 10. Area was nicely shaded by trees at 05:00 pm.
Great night out, food was good, nice ambiance, only glitch was not sure how to find the place. Had to go through the river restaurant.
Good food with great view!
For a place with tequila in its name they had some of the worst margaritas I’ve ever tasted. The waiter informed us that we couldn’t order top shelf margaritas because the only margaritas they had were premade. The food was mediocre.
The food was blah, margaritas too small for the price, and since when is a virgin margarita the same price as one with alcohol? We appreciated the insect repellant wipes.
The location is beautiful. The setting near the large Hartford river could not be nicer for outdoor eating. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing.
Food, cocktails, music, Thomas (our server) and the views were all absolutely SPECTACULAR!
I know the margs are great but try a La Paloma Ultima; they are truly to die for! All of the food was very tasty! TR is a must try.
Make sure you have the Mango Habanero Margarita! They are wonderful! All the dishes (at least the ones I have had) are really marvelous! Go tonight!
Went for an early dinner on an absolutely perfect weather day. The views of the river were really great. Had a couple of margs to start with some guacamole and crab empanadas which were outstanding! The Oaxacan steak and pork carnitas tacos were next and totally delish. Finished with Tres Leches Cake, yum!
We were the only customers at that time but our server was friendly and gracious. She answered all our questions about the menu and even encouraged us to enjoy the environment. It was super hot outside on the patio but we loved it. She provided us with extra water and told the kids to take walks on the grass to keep them occupied. The food was tasty. Large portions so we all could share. Couple minor issues; there were no crunchy tacos (the kids were a little disappointed), the purple soft taco was way too soft the entire taco fell apart when o picked it up to take the first bite and the crab emapanadas were not tasty. Otherwise the outdoor waterfront location made up for everything.
App menu small, plus 2 items not available which made is smaller. Food was good but not exceptional. Thought prices were high considering the food choices. Menu is very limited but I guess expected since their kitchen is a tent outside the eating area. Mosquitos were out of control but that is to be expected with all the rain lately and being by the river.
The site is very pretty. Unfortunately the service was very, very slow - We had a reservation at 7:00 pm and we were served at 8:30 pm ... When at last the meal arrived it was cold. We had only one desire, to leave that place with our dishes ... and to run away from the mosquitoes of which we are full of bites today
The setting is just beautiful and the drinks are yummy. They were short staffed in the kitchen but they let us know that right from the start so we weren't anxious. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. We really appreciated that the manager came around and asked how things were. We REALLY appreciated the bug repellant wipes as the sun went down.
Wait staff was great; food was decidedly not. Tacos cold and dry.
Best weather day of the year! The view of the river and everything about the place is great. Food and drink worthy of the setting! GO!
What a gorgeous day to sit out on the CT. River! The tacos were excellent, The margs very smooth. Rush down there now; it is a perfect place to be today.
Had lunch there just now. I would've stayed all afternoon if I didn't have to be elsewhere. Food great, drinks great! Be back very soon.
How idyllic this place is. If you have not been, it is a bucket-list thing. I love the food and margaritas and the guacamole is delish. Great for every occasion.
