Love this restaurant every time we go! It’s my fav in Charleston!
Service is always top notch along with the delicious food.
This was a birthday dinner for my husbands 70th birthday. Everything was perfect. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and all my reservation notes were executed. Highly recommend. We dined in outside seating area. Dinner ended with Our check coming inside a copy of Shakespeares “The Tempest” and a sample
Of brandy with a rose for me and a cigar for my husband. Quite special. The chef was great, kitchen staff also terrific.
Great dinning experience ever time! Greater as soon as we arrived, seated immediately and server was prompt, kind and knowledgeable. The Nori tools are a must❤️
Interesting, tasty menu. We had Farro Soup, octopus, and ceviche small plates. Entrées were flounder and grouper with jerk cauliflower. Bread and butter before the meal were Hot, and straight out of the oven fantastic.
We had an outstanding meal and experience at Tempest! Our highest regards to this restaurant! We asked our server Maureen to simply bring us whatever the kitchen felt was best until we said stop and they gladly accommodated our request. The chef even prepared us something he was working on as our final course and it was delicious. The seafood was simply divine. Eat here. You won’t regret it.
We were dining in Tempest first time and it was very pleasant experience! Food was excellent and stuff created very easy going atmosphere. Wonderful place to taste local seafood. Definitely recommend for any occasion!
Drinks were phenomenal. We chose the bar over the table offered as it was close to other diners and not quite as intimate as we would have liked.
Food seemed overpriced but we enjoyed some small plates. Bread was the best part!
Had Thanksgiving dinner with the price fix 3 course meal. Absolutely some of the worst food We ever had. Monk fish (which is very mild and sweet) terrine. It was extremely strong fish tasting. Roast turnip app was undercooked; the turnips needed about 5 more minutes to be properly roasted. We then had the ember roasted turkey ( what ever that means) and it was a puny appetizer size portion and had absolutely no taste. Could be passed off as turkey or chicken breast or pork tenderloin. Finished with the chocolate pumpkin pie. I honestly believe that someone forgot the sugar. Wine pairings were very good.
We were extremely disappointed with our food here on Thanksgiving for a family of five. The quality of food wasn’t there.
We dined here for our Thanksgiving meal and it was superb! It was a prefix menu but had great options. I went with the turkey and my husband had the lamb. The drinks were excellent and I highly recommend the 1885. Service was impeccable and the staff was very attentive including the manager!
Thanksgiving evening was over priced for the chaos and portions.
Thanksgiving pre fix meal was terrible. Turkey was dry and portion size very small. Butternut squash was impossible to cut or eat. Fish was boring. Squash Needed to be cooked more. This meal tried too hard and could have been so much better if it strived more for flavor than to be different.
This was our first visit to Tempest. We'll be back. There were 3 seating options and we chose the second floor. Made a big difference. Our server made a big difference as well! We'd ask for Maureen again!! The manager, Carina, stopped by and made sure we were happy. Although everything was perfect, the personal Customer Service was the BEST! We're local and are already planning our next special occasion here!!
Thanksgiving dinner was mediocre at best. The butternut squash was far too charred and rather bland, the turkey was moist but once again did not have a very good flavor and the chocolate pumpkin pie was a disappointment, neither having a good pumpkin or chocolate taste and being totally ruined by the pepper topping. There was not a Riesling available sold by the glass which was a big disappointment as I cannot drink a whole bottle by myself. Aside from the glass art on the ceiling the atmosphere was also bland. The wait staff was fine for a holiday but nothing to write home about. Having eaten all over the world my husband and I have classified this experience as the most expensive bad dinner we have ever had and we will not be back. This is just not a restaurant worthy of Charleston!
Steak tartare all wrong.
Otherwise ok if overly precious
Went for a special occasion as noted in the reservation but it wasn’t mentioned nor reflected in any special seating location. Room was beautiful and the drinks outstanding. They oddly seemed over staffed and the congregation of workers took away from the ambience somewhat. Mixed reviews of food among guests. High marks for seafood, but steak was presented extremely well done and not a very good cut. To be fair they offered to redo (and did comp a starter) but it wasn’t an appropriate situation to complain or have my guest feel they couldn’t eat while my dish was recooked. Dessert equally underwhelming. Was very disappointed in the experience.
Food was excellent but not enough and pricey. And no sides came with the entrees and no good options for ordering sides. It was during brunch so their menu was extremely limited. We spent a huge amount and left hungry. Sat on front patio which was nice but the sun was blistering. The front needs some kind of shade for guests. The service was very good.
Daughter got engaged
Ate out with military buddy. Both used our military discounts which make it an insane deal but didn’t get the post dinner cigars/cognac treatment. Not sure if the discount had anything to do with it but slightly disappointing.
Amazing atmosphere and the food was fantastic.
Love this place! Best drinks in Charleston and we had appetizer trio...Love!
I marked down on our reservation that we were celebrating our 15th anniversary. They sat us by the door. There was no intimacy at all, which really killed the vibe. The servers were shy. The drinks were awesome, but we had to wait a while in between each one. The menu was limited and wasn't worth the price. The dessert was amazing. The hospitality bit at the end was too little too late.
Dwayne was great as a server. Food was delicious
I’ve made better steak & bok choy at my house. Should’ve stayed home & cooked rather than spending $300 for dinner.
The gorgeous glass mosaic ceiling is a showstopper. Menu was very different so was hesitant at first, but their amazing bread was the beginning of a fabulous dinner. We did 4 small plates and they were all unique & delicious. They spoil you at the end. Highly recommended!
The service was absolutely amazing. Really top notch! The food was not quite on par with how excellent the service was and a lot of dishes tasted very bland.
The food and our waitress were terrific. The two issues we had were (1) the couple who were seated next to us shortly after we were seated received their wine and starters before we were given menus and (2) the first part of the evening was really loud. But. The loudness may have been largely the product of a patron at a large table who felt the need to shout. Once they left things were great.
We look forward to a return visit soon.
The Tempest Tower was awesome!! The seafood was delicious and the bread was good as well….
The atmosphere in Tempest was good! They had nice music on (Frank Sinatra) and the inside was decorated nicely. The food portions were TINY and the brunch menu was just meh. I would consider going back for dinner to give it another try, but wouldn’t think twice about going back for brunch.
Had lobster Benedict; teeny bit of lobster
Josh was a fantastic waiter and truly did his best to make our meal the best experience possible. We look forward to coming back and trying even more of the menu options!
Service was excellent. We had an awesome dinner and I loved that at the end they gave the girls roses and the guys cigars!
Dinner was delicious and service was impeccable!! Highly recommend!
We sat outside and loved the porch area, it was much quieter than inside and allowed us to watch Market St pass by. From the appetizers through entree it was an excellent meal, unhurried and delicious. Expect to spend a few dollars but you get what you pay for, excellent fresh seafood prepared perfectly.
Food was exceptional! Service was good but server seemed to be trying to hard to up-sell. Also she had a trainee with her but did not let him assist in any way, not even to pick up a used plate or silver. It was awkward.
Came for lunch. The food was good. Not a big menu to select from. The ambiance is lovely. The glass ceiling with the fish is awesome. Not a place for large groups or parties, but nice for couples.
The atmosphere, service and food was wonderful!! The rose and cigar with the after dinner drink at the end was a super nice touch!
Our second visit was so good there will definitely be more.
The food, service and ambience were perfect, as usual. Our server was very accommodating and made excellent recommendations. We brought 2 special bottles of wine with us to celebrate a birthday and she brought them each out with perfect time. They made the meal EVEN better. The whole party carried on about the whole meal throughout the evening. One of the best meals I've ever had in Charleston. Thank you so much!
