Great restaurant. Service was wonderful and the food was even better. Each dish was unique on its own way, with phenomenal presentation and finger licking good, simply put it was all heavenly delicious. we highly recommend this place .
Very delicious food and service. My wife loved the tuna bomb. I enjoyed a whole red snapper and my wife had a snapper fillet.
A truly great dining experience.
Food was incredible, so was the service!
We were seated on the porch on a lovely evening. Our server Jill was perfect. She knew the menu and made suggestions as we made our decisions. Our whole fish was delicious. I’d go back just to see Jill.
The bartender and drinks were fantastic! But the food and service just ok. We waited 30 minutes past our reservation time to get our table, and then another 15 minutes to have someone come to the table. We would be ok with that, if even just a simple apology. But no apology offered. Also forgot part of our order, and it came after we were done with the rest of our meal. So many great restaurants in Charleston. We'd come back for a drink but not a meal.
It was Fabulous!!!
This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten...ever!
amazing experience, as always! This has been a staple for date nights since they opened. The oysters are amazing and always so fresh! I love that they change the dishes every now and then so the menu is always changing!
Server was pleasant. Other than that, I can’t remember a worse restaurant experience. So sorry for delivering a less than flattering review, but maybe this will encourage another patron to look for a different restaurant.
Tasty, well prepared food, but too expensive. Limited menu.
Good cocktails and seafood. Vibe was really variable-- when the lights dropped a bit and the music level raised, I felt more comfortable. Before that, it felt a bit too quiet.
Wonderful food. Great service
Great ambiance and food. Waiter, Josh, was excellent and knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions.
Hostess was unwilling to sit us outside despite 3 open tables saying they were reserved however the entire 1.5 hours we were there no one sat in the tables… not a deal breaker but would’ve been nice.
It was wonderful!!
Everything was exceptional from the time we made our reservation. The wine list is small, but intentional and well thought out. The clam risotto, steak toast, oysters (both grilled and raw), grilled lobster tails, grouper, and cauliflower were musts. This place deserves all the hype.
This was our 4th time and it never fails to impress. Love this restaurant. If you like seafood, this has to be on your list!
Very expensive for micro portions
Beautiful place & excellent meal
Lovely ambiance, stellar service, and good food
Our party of seven all agreed that was the best meal
We have had in Charleston, SC. We all live in SC and have eaten at lots of restaurants in the Holy City.
We started with some chargrilled oysters - briny and topped with crispy, tasty Panko crumbs. The Risotto with crispy clams was rich and brightened with fresh herbs and lemon zest. My friend had the deconstructed lobster roll which was beautiful to look at and reported as delish. Smaller plates and higher quality food, which I like just fine, but some may find portions small for the price (especially if you have a big appetite). The decor and theme is great and makes it that much more enjoyable.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere (but reeeeeally loud upstairs, we were unable to hear each other across the table most of the meal due to so many large parties), great service from Declan. Very accommodating with my dairy & gluten restrictions, the chef prepared my dishes without dairy seamlessly - still delicious! We love Tempest and will certainly be back.
PHENOMENAL flavors, excellent service. If we lived in Charleston we would certainly go back. Definitely lives up to its reputation.
Steak toast A ++
Noori rolls A ++
I started with crudo appetizer & followed with the red snapper with Carolina Rice & wild mushrooms! Spectacular!!! Highly recommend the Iris Cocktail!!
The steak toast required a teeth of a wild animal to chew. The amount of garlic kept me vampire free - Midnight Mass! My shrimp was over-cooked, the fingerling potatoes were swimming in the saltiest of sauces. Heavy handed seasoning! The hummingbird cake - ordered without the toasted coconut was delicious but did not affect my food rating as the other dishes were inedible. They brought a more than generous pour of cognac and a cigar with a delightful story and a copy of the play, “The Tempest” as a holder for the check. I don’t smoke and while the cognac had a lovely smell - the taste was not good. The service was excellent 5 stars but overall the restaurant is a 3.
Great food but expensive
We were recommended by Charleston Place and were NOT Disappointed. Everything was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine dining in a relaxed but upscale atmosphere.
Went for our anniversary for bubbly and oysters. Gray our waiter could not have been nicer. Oh and we received a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary. Very nice touch. Will definitely be going back for dinner in the very near future. Jim and Joanne
We had a great time at Tempest! The cocktails were our favorite part, aside from the exceptional service we received. The menu was small, but elegant. The portions were also small (both entres and wine pours). The food was good, but I probably wouldn’t go back or recommend it to other tourists visiting Charleston for the first time. Not really worth the hype, but still good.
What an awesome, beautiful restaurant! Food was delicious, great waitstaff…perfect paced meal. Our server, Richard, was very fun and engaging….we enjoyed our meal thoroughly…only feedback is that my 2 small pieces of lobster on butternut squash was $31….overpriced for such a small portion.
Need more sides/salads for entrees
Very crowded/noisy. Hard to carry on conversation
A bummer they were out of a few things and the portions were definitely smaller than expected but incredibly delicious. Great service but thought the cognac/rose thing at the end was a little odd.
Flawless from start to finish. Stellar service!!!
Food was delicious! Room is very loud.
Very good food and service.
Great service! Sidney was a delight and made amazing recommendations. She was also very attentive and helped us to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in a special and memorable way.
The atmosphere and the food was amazing. Parker was an incredible server. All in all, we had a very enjoyable night and would recommend Tempest unreservedly.
Food was fabulous and servers were very personable and courteous
Outstanding service with an exceptional menu
