Daniel Berg is the Cofounder of Bill’s Oyster and Teddy’s Restaurant & Bar. Berg started his culinary career in New York, where he was also born and raised. Daniel attended the French Culinary Institute (NYC) as well as La Scuola Di Cucina (Colorno, IT). After completing culinary school he began working for critically acclaimed and James Beard award–winning Chef Andrew Carmellini. Berg would spend several years under Carmellini working for him beginning at Michelin-starred and three-starred New York Times restaurant A Voce. Berg would go on to help Carmellini open several more restaurants, including Locanda Verde, The Dutch and Bar Primi. He also spent a year working in Italy under Chef Massimo Montaro at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Principe Cerami. Daniel would go on to work for Chef Daniel Boloud at his flagship three-star Michelin and four-star New York Times flagship restaurant Daniel, as well Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin.

We tried it after hearing great things from previous diners but were sadly disappointed. The food was average at best, and it was so loud that we had to strain to hear despite the restaurant not being full. The server was not very knowledgeable about the menu and overall service was very slow. I can’t hold this against them, but other celiac diners and those with food restrictions should be aware that they don’t have many options. They were not rude about it by any means, but the options were extremely limited for me. I’ll own that I should’ve called ahead to confirm as I normally do but sort of just expect most restaurants in Austin nowadays to be accommodate. Perhaps the dinner is better and only the brunch is underwhelming, but we are not eager to try it again anytime soon.

Cute place, great lump crab tostada appetizer, excellent service. Tables a little close to each other for comfort along banquette wall. Looking forward to returning for HH in the bar area!

Just had appetizers for lunch. The stuffed fried qual appetizer was great. The cheesecake was exceptional. Will definitely return for dinner.

I don’t know how anyone could give this place a good review. Limited brunch menu, really poor preparation and presentation, and it took forever. The server did comp two of the three dishes we ordered, but honestly, it was barely edible and shouldn’t have been served. With Postino‘s opening soon down the street, I give this place six months at best before going bust.

Love this place! I want to head back for a happy hour and/or dinner. We ate the frittata and Eggs Benedict for brunch, and they were both tasty. We wish the mimosa and Bloody Mary's were a bit more brunch priced, but they weren't crazy pricey. We'll be back! Great patio seating and indoor seating as well. Easy parking lot parking available. Check it out!

Loved our dinner at Teddy's! It was a beautiful night to be outside on the patio. The food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely be back!
