Taxman CityWay is a gastropub and beer garden located in an 1850s renovated livery building, right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. This family friendly gastropub features three full service bars offering 20 rotating Taxman beers, local ciders and a wide variety of wine and spirits, as well as a pet-friendly outdoor patio. The seasonal menu highlights local and regional farmers and is anchored by a wide variety of local beef burgers, steaks, housemade pretzels, seasonal sandwiches, Belgian-style French fries (commonly referred to as “frites”) and Belgian-style Liege waffles.

Situated directly next door to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and several blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium, Taxman CityWay offers one of the largest patios in downtown Indianapolis and has a stage featuring live music throughout the spring, summer and fall. A second floor private event space features the lofted ceilings, a modern fireplace, private bar and old-world charm.

It took 20 minutes for me to get my beer after ordering. My sliders hardly had any meat on on them, they were room temperature and there was one little line of horseradish sauce. It took three tries to get the aïoli for the fries because the first two tries were plain mayo. I finally flagged a a nice man who was bussing tables who brought us another round of mayo and finally the aïoli. My friend ordered the chicken tenders and there was more breading than chicken. The chop salad was mostly iceberg a tiny bit of cheese and a few slivers of carrot . This is usually my go to place and maybe it was a one time issue but hopefully you’ll see this and step up the game. I will say the fries were really good though!

We made reservations to watch the Pacers play game 4. At 950pm we were asked if we wanted anything for last call as they closed at 10pm. We had no idea they would not be open until the end of the game. We had to scramble to find a place to watch the rest of the game. I understand if you have to close at a certain time according to your license or some other factor, but we should have been told this earlier, as it was apparent we were there to watch the game.

We ate here before game three of the NBA finals. The atmosphere was incredible inside the service was understanding of our time crunch. The food was fantastic. I could not recommend Taxman more!

Great service, and very quiet (their music is really good, kinda yacht rock!) until a group with a very loud toddler showed up halfway thru our meal. Only a four, because I had to pick some brown lettuce off my sandwich.

Really cool place. A bit loud but it was game night. Did a really good job handling the rush and getting everyone, including our party, out the door in time for the game. Going back in a few days. My favorite pregame spot.

Great experience overall. Will absolutely dine here again. The Brussels were amazing! Margaritas were excellent!
