Good food, excellent service. We just could not see the menu at all - there is extremely dim and inadequate lighting at the higher tables

I went with my friends and we we’re on the terrasse it was a really good ambiance, good food, good service. They had a problem with our food in the back and The waitress was very honest with us. I would 100% recommend it!

The food is very French bistro/rustic. You can get a beautiful burger or a small Cornish hen. There is an array of classy meals to be had without being intimidating for the uninitiated.

The staff is friendly and the food is excellent. Perfect for a romantic evening or a casual outing.

Food and vibe was great!

- Service: was very friendly but a little inattentive. Had to grab the server's attention a couple of times to get some service. Including getting the check at the end. We want to leave! They could have done better especially considering the place was nearly empty.

- Food: My steak and fries was literally... just steak and fries. I guess that's to be expected but maybe they could have added a little side or something to make the plate a bit more interesting. Also, no mayo or ketchup was offered. No steak knife was provided, so I had to request one. See above. Food itself was great though.

All in all, I would recommend. Service was not so horrible to be a deal breaker for me (still very friendly), but they should work on this as I'm sure it might be for others.

Food was amazing. Service was fantastic. We enjoyed the terrasse on de la commune. But there is also a terrace on the roof. Great place.

La nourriture est excellente et les portions sont suffisantes. Ils sont très bien situé surtout que la rue est piétonnière à cette hauteur. Très agréable. Serveur courtois. Petit bémol : le service. Très lent. Trop lent. On a failli décommander le café tellement c’était long.

Autant j’ai adoré toute seule mes expérience pendant les services du soir, autant j’ai été déçue par le service du lunch. Je comprends que ce n’est pas intéressant pour le personnel de travailler alors qu’il n’y a pas de client, mais on aurait apprécié voir le personnel plus enthousiaste et plus attentionné. J’étais avec deuxième personnes âgées, et j’ai demandé si on pouvait décoller un peu nos deux tables. La réponse a été non après une certaine hésitation. Nous l’avons fait nous même, car on était plus a l’aise ainsi, mais aussi parce que Le Soleil nous plombait dessus. Personne ne nous a aidé à orienter le parasol autrement pour nous donner de l’ombre. Tout le personnel était à l’intérieur en train de jaser probablement. Personne n’a rien vu, ni même au moment du service... très long en passant.

Je ne comprends pas l'écart énorme dans la qualité du service et le plaisir à table entre le service du midi et le service du soir. Le midi, on ne se sent pas les bienvenus, alors que le soir, on rit et on jase avec le personnel, qui est toujours très attentionné.

Je recommande Gaspar le soir seulement.

Service and ambiance were excellent. Variety of food and drinks menus was limited, considering location and price. More vegetarian and seafood options required. Food was OK.

Great food, the waiters are amazing, I did not feel overwhelmed by the ambience and I definitely recommend it there

The food was terrible. My omelette was so dry and overcooked. The waitress screwed up my husbands order. I asked for multi grain she gave me whole wheat. When I asked for multi grain she said they didn’t have any, so why didn’t she just say that in the first place? My husband asked for scrambled eggs, she brought sunny side up. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Not sure why it got such a high rating.

Amazing service and great food!

It was absolutely amazing! i did my Fiancees surprise birthday here and wow ! I cannot believe this gem in od port of Montreal! The waitress was awesome she gave great recommendations for the meals ( try the ribs they are insane ). The place is beautiful, the brick, the comforting setting, everything really was out of the park. Thank you to the Gaspar team and the cooks that night because you truly gave an amazing experience. I will surely be back soon :)

A very nice place welcoming to all, including children. It was a slow Tuesday, with a relaxed atmosphere in the place. Food was excellent, will come back.

Gaspar has ambience and sets the tone for a relaxing meal. The local beer is an IPA on tap and the bottled mystic cider was flavorful. Service was impeccable and accommodating. Good eats ordering Lobster Mac&Cheese (serves 2) and Mushroom soup...both are fantastic! Full rack of ribs with coleslaw (serves 2) are a tasty combo and you can substitute a small salad for fries. Overall, a very good experience.

Une très belle expérience pour nous. La bouffe était très bonne, le service impeccable, l’ambiance amicale, le décor charmant avec des clins d’oeil à l’époque de la construction de l’édifice. Nous reviendrons!

It did take some time after we were seated to get serviced but once we did it was fenomenal. Food was amazing!! Presentation was a bit lackluster but the taste was 10/10.

All-around great place. Considerate service in both Français and English. Couldn't have picked a better spot for a first dinner in Montréal!

Great atmosphere, fast and friendly service. Was our second time there and would definitely recommend it for others.

The only issue was we were there at the end of Happy Hour and a few of the patrons were VERY loud and happy. I thought restaurants were responsible for the volume of alcohol they served customers.

La nourriture était passable mais médiocre. Très peu de saveur dans les aliments et mon morceau de boeuf "mignonette" était tellement dure et fibreux que je n'ai même pas pu en prendre plus que deux petite bouchées. Les pommes de terre à l'ail manquait d'assaisonnement et quant à la sauce au poivre, elle était indescriptible...comme un petit verre d'eau tiède, sans goût. Sommes toutes, j'étais très déçue de mon expérience gastronomique - surtout dans un endroit tellement beau.

The food was amazing!!!! The mashed potato was extremely good. You can easily just eat the mashed potato with nothing else and you’ll enjoy your food!!! The steak was great!!! I strongly recommend. I will come back for sure. Thank you to Taverne Gaspar for a great experience for my bridal party and I.

Good food, good ambience but too noisy to have a good conversation. Waiters are more interested in chatting together and dancing together than giving us attention more than two times in the night.

Nous y sommes allés pour le happening gourmand.
Plutôt déçus par la nourriture servie.
L’avocat était filandreux, la mozzarella était très acide...
Apparemment le cheeseburger était bon.
Le risotto était trop aldente selon moi. Heureusement le service a sauvé la mise. On m’a resservi un risotto bien cuit. J’ai été très touchée par cette attention et c’est grâce à ça que je mets 3 étoiles
Malheureusement cela ne change pas mon avis sur la qualité médiocre de la nourriture (du moins, sur le menu du happening gourmand).
