Taverna Opa - Orlando Ratings and Reviews
Ambience is great and it's a fun place but the food has gone down hill! There were 16 of us in the group and the only thing that was good was the filet mignon as well as the fries that came with other meals. The chicken was dry for two people, the mousaka had no flavor and the gyro meat for the souvlaki platters is frozen and doesn't come shaved off of a spit!!! It's a Greek restaurant!!! Why are they serving frozen, tasteless lamb that they get from a food supplier!?? Each slice is a perfect fake, long rectangle! Also, with a group of 16 who spent a good amount on food and drink, we were charged $1.75 for a small extra portion of tzatziki sauce to go with the dry, gross gyro meat. That's just bad for business. We had a nice server and the atmosphere is always fun but when the server didn't add gratuity but made sure to circle the suggested amount on the bottom of the bill, it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth (along with the gyro!)
It was our first time. We had reservations, which I recommend. The service was prompt. Food came out too quickly though. Overall, the food was good. The atmosphere very lively. They have a show at 7pm and 9pm. The dancer is great, interacts and dances with the guests. Overall, a great time
Had an early dinner which allowed us meeting at length with the general manager to get recommendations on the menu and possible substitutions. Great interaction and nice start. Food was exceptionally fresh, deliciously preparded and good value. The one place I always enjoy when in the I-drive area.
My husband and I came years ago on a trip and loved it. This trip we brought the kids Ages 9, 11, 13 (girls). We all had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful authentic food, service and entertainment. When we left our girls said it was the total package for a restaurant. They've already put it on their list of places for when we come back to Orlando.
First of all, I researched and read before going. Sounded great...well it wasn't. My colleague ordered fish tacos and I ordered shrimp lettuce wraps. The fish tacos came after a significant amount of time, however, my friend was finished before my shrimp even came out. The server did apologize, but it was too late. The tacos were in too large of a tortilla for the amount of filling, while my shrimp was tasty, the music was so loud we could barely hear each other at a table for two.
My husband and I actually left before trying the food. It seemed like a very fun place and the food looked delicious but the floor was covered with hundreds maybe thousands of napkins that were being thrown in the air for fun and that was very bothersome to us. Besides the waste of money, it seemed like such a poor choice for the environment. We unfortunatly could not be a part of that.
Took my family there for something different to eat. The lively atmosphere, which included a DJ and belly dancer, quickly led to drunk patrons standing on tables. One of these party goers fell off of the table in the direction of my daughter. Luckily I was paying attention to the goings on and was able to deflect him with my own body and save my daughter the pain of a large drunk man falling on her. But because I my attention was directed to an impending accident, I wasn't able to enjoy my family for the entire night. It probably wouldn't had mattered anyway because it was so loud in there that I couldn't hear anyone talking.
None of the staff ever attempted to stop the man, matter of fact, the encouraged the behavior by throwing napkins in the air and dancing along with him. Someone should have pulled the plug on the action instead of allowing it to go on for 20-30 minutes. He was on the table before we got our meal and still there as we were leaving. Staff even helped him back on after he fell.
Glad I can check it off of my list, but I'll never go back. I enjoy greek cuisine, and this was good, but overall cost wasn't worth it. I'm sure the majority of the cost is due to the restaurants location on I-drive.
90%of the time everything is perfect, especially the food. However, last night my food, especially the lamb ribs, was dry and burnt. Thank goodness the entertainment, service, and my family distracted me from eating it. Next time if it happens I will address it immediately.
