Tatsu's French Restaurant
French classics such as Beef Bourguignon, Saumon Poche/Meuniere, Escalope de Veau au Citron and a delicious Pureed Carrot Soup grace the menu. The house salad dressing and teriyaki sauce are such customer favorites that for years they have been available to take home from the restaurant.
Tatsu’s is the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion and a recently opened private dining area can accommodate larger gatherings and banquets. The quality of the cuisine, affordability and attentive service has created a loyal following of patrons who dine regularly at Tatsu’s.

Food was very good , perfectly cooked
Service was very good. I will go back
again for any occasion.
We haven't been here in a while, but were once again, thrilled to be back! The food and service were exceptional!
Delicious!
Great place to celebrate special occasions. food is unsurpassed. Our server seemed to be predisposed and made a few errors in service. Somewhat irritating but everyone has an off day now and then. I gave her the normal gratuity. Service does not dissuade me from visiting again.
Great hidden gem tucked away. It’s definitely worth going if you have never been
I have been eating here since the beginning in 1980 and I have never had a bad meal. Great food
Just perfect
we received our salads before appetizer. When the appetizer did show up it was the wrong one and we had to argue with server on it not being what was ordered. Eventually she admitted it was not what we ordered. Veal over cooked and vegetables soggy
The Dinner was amazing for our anniversary! As it turned out we were the only customers in the dining room until we were leaving. Excellent freshly prepared food along with great service. A little pricey but worth it. We can’t wait to go back.
I think that it would be a great restaurant to take out of town company or anyone celebrating a special occasion.
Never disappoints us! Yum yum!!
The food was wonderful (as always), and the plate presentation was exquisite.
Nice place for a quiet dinner with someone special. The dinner was great/
Food was very good. Good service from a very, very busy waitress with a lot of tables.
Only complaint was a bad Old Fashion cocktail. Bitter tasting possibly from too much aromatic cocktail bitters.
90 minutes to get main course. Seated in back room with very bright spotlights in ceiling. Zero atmosphere. Customers coming in later seated in nicely lit side room
Tatsus always has outstanding food, great service, and remarkably reasonable prices. They have distanced tables well beyond minimum requirements, too. Whether it is a special occasion or a great dinner out, it’s a wonderful place for dinner.
Gabby was a ray of Florida sunshine! She is very knowledgeable about food allergies and made special accommodations for our gluten free friend. We were able to try several wines and cocktails before ordering and loved her menu recommendations. Phenomenal customer experience. Thank you so much Gabby!
Always a great place to eat. Carrot soup is outta this world.
Tatsu's is one of my favorite places. I've been there many times over the years, and the food is always excellent. While the service can sometimes be a little slow, the overall experience is great. Once again, I had the herb chicken, which sounds simple, but is in fact a complex mix of flavors that compliment each other fantastically. My business partner had the rack of lamb and it was cooked and flavored to perfection. Tatsu's is highly recommended!
Jintana was wonderful!! She’s great. Tatsu stopped by... great cozy hidden gem. Took our 14 & 16 year old. We will definitely be back. Thank you
After all their years in existence, Tatsu's still seems to be too little known. Their food is simply excellent. If you enjoy fine dining, do not miss them.
seating prompt - service attentive. with smaller seating area (Covid driven separations) there were less diners and less servers so....the time was a bit longer than historical but still worth the outing.
Always outstanding!
Tatsu's is a wonderful place . The food is excellent, the staff is great and service is excellent . Another great issue is plenty of parking at their location, takes away all the arrival stress !
The food was good but the service and ambiance need significant help. It's not what you would ecpect for an upscale/pricey restaurant. The restaurant itself was cold - literally and figuratively. The "cold" temperature made it impossible to relax and enjoy the meal. The cold setting was also a disappointment. They put in wall to wall and ceiling to floor window which were cold to the touch. I'm sure this is part of the lack of heat issue but the feel lacked coziness. The carpet looked dirty and dingy. The walls are done in unappetizing colors and the painted woodwork is chipped. The ceiling is dropping and the ceiling heat returns were filthy. I went to the restroom which smelled of sewer gas. The doorknob came off in my hand but I was able to get it back on - which is good - because the bathroom not only smelled bad, it too was dirty and in desperate need of attention. Many if these issues could be easily improved with some new paint (preferably in a color conducive to fine dining), new ceiling tiles, new carpet and drapes for the sterile windows. Our bill for lunch was about $150. If you go, wear your mask that covers your eyes as this place is in sad shape.
The food and service were wonderful however the overall experience was uncomfortable due to the lack of other patrons.
It is hidden gem that we have enjoyed for years. The food and service are excellent, and we regularly recommend it to friends.
We hadn't been at Tatsu's for a year and will not repeat such a long time away! Our dinner was excellent. I had the crab cake appetizer and it was quite unique and very tasty. My entre was the rack of lamb, which was well prepared and fresh. We split the puff pastry with custard for dessert and found it refreshing. Our service was not rushed and we left thinking about when we could return without appearing to be in a rut!
Excellent food and excellent service! And very well spaced tables.
Tatsu’s is charming and the food is always exquisite! Our waiter was outstanding. Highly recommend it for an occasion or just to treat yourselves.
Excellent food as always! Wish there was some sound absorbing material inside as there are always people who talk very loudly.
Ordered 2 daily specials, one with chicken entre and one with salmon. They brought out 2 with salmon. Took it back and prepared the chicken, but very disappointing.
A last-minute dinner worked very well. Both dishes ordered were perfect. And the waitress “Chen” did a great job too.
Great food. One of our favorite go to restaurants for special occasions or date night. Always special. Love the lamb and scallops and orange soufflé
The veggies with the entrees included Brussels sprouts which neither of us like but other than that the food was excellent.
Service & Food were excellent. Could use a little more ambiance. Seemed kind of stark. Would go back!
The food and service were excellent. Tatsu's remains our favorite restaurant, as it consistently delivers a very enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended.
Great Thanksgiving dinner with a friend here. Food was excellent, staff and efficient. Good atmosphere.
Service was very good and turkey tasted undercooked. Also volumn of food was lacking for “a traditional Thanksgiving dinner” As advertised
One of my favorite restaurants in KC always good
I generally would rate Tatsu’s higher. This visit left much to be desired. We were a party of 5. The website says they have a Sunday 3-course special, which is why we made the reservation. When we got there we were told that they were not serving the special that day. Then we were seated in a very cold area. The server attempted to station a heater near us but it kept tripping the circuit breaker. Overall, wasn’t a great experience.
