Tatsu's French Restaurant
French classics such as Beef Bourguignon, Saumon Poche/Meuniere, Escalope de Veau au Citron and a delicious Pureed Carrot Soup grace the menu. The house salad dressing and teriyaki sauce are such customer favorites that for years they have been available to take home from the restaurant.
Tatsu’s is the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion and a recently opened private dining area can accommodate larger gatherings and banquets. The quality of the cuisine, affordability and attentive service has created a loyal following of patrons who dine regularly at Tatsu’s.
Best food in town Best value
Excellent Service & Delicious Dinner -
We even met the Chef!
Best Mother’s Day Dinner - ever!
It was like a Hallmark Movie!!
Wonderful restaurant off the beaten track. Superb food, service and ambience.
Had a great meal with the family on Mother's Day. Great service. Great food. This place is a hidden gem located in an otherwise mostly residential neighborhood. Definitely plan for repeat visits!
We have been here twice in he last 3 months; we were fortunate to have the same waite staff and although the food was outstanding, her professionalism, knowledge, friendliness and just the right balance between attentiveness and remoteness allowed us to enjoy the food, wine and atmosphere.
We were disappointed with the flavor of the chicken used in the main courses, with various sauces. The side salad was good and the desserts were excellent.
What a great experience we had celebrating Mother's Day at Tatsu's! The kitchen was phenomenal, excellent wine list, good service, and elegant venue. Would like to see cappuccino added to the menu but regular coffee was good too.
Loved it Amazing food
We have enjoyed Tatsu's for over four (4) years now; mainly for special occasions & holidays. The ambiance is always very pleasant, the staff attentive without 'hovering,' and the cuisine invariably outstanding, whatever our choice(s). The bar & wine choices are always superb.
I also always look forward to the 'carrot soup' and salad with house dressing; neither has ever disappointed.
Been going there for years....gets better all the time!!!
Excellent service and delicious food. Would return once more.
Excellent atmosphere and food. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City, or anywhere I've been! Everything is delicious, but the vegetables are exquisite.
Great dinner fabulous waiter :) !
Tatsu's food was as great as it always is. My wife and I have celebrated many special days at Tatsu's, and our anniversary this week as another perfect occasion.
I come to Tatsu's for special occasions because I enjoy the food and service.
We dine @ Tatsu's for special occasions as the food is outstanding, service is excellent and the atmosphere is cathartic.
Love this place. Haven't been to Tatsus is a few years and it was just as good as I remember. The escargot was awesome and we had good service. I had the duck and my folks had the veal for dinner and both were delicious. They even made a vegan dish more my daughter which she really enjoyed. A great place for special occasions.
Ambiance superb! Jintana served us very well. My wife had the veal liver & I had the lambchops, followed by the best Gran Mariner soufflé we’ve ever had - food and presentation were brilliant.
We had the opportunity to meet Mr. Tatsu and thank him for providing such a wonderful celebration of our 44th wedding anniversary. As an aside, our favorite restaurants have always been in NYC but this is a VERY special place!
This restaurant has the poorest service I have ever seen. The staff is extremely rude. A waitress knelled by our table and talked to my wife like she was a child. We never had our drinks refilled. We never received any bread. Not to mention our food looked as if it had been sitting out long before arriving to us. The top was crusty and the plate was so hot we couldn't touch it. Not at all what I expected
Upon arriving we had to wait quite a while for anyone to acknowledge. A waiter kept kept walking past us and when we asked him for help he said he was busy and someone would be with us soon. Finally a lady seated us. We then had to wait for someone to acknowledge us at the table! One waitress said we stopped said she couldn't help us because we weren't in her section! Finally a very rude waiter, who cursed at our table and was obviously drunk, explained they were under staffed and it would be a while for our drinks. It went downhill from there. I will never return or recommend this restaurant
Always an amazing dinner celebrating our birthdays. Food is fantastic every time
This is one of my families favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding. We love both lunch and dinner.
I haven't been to Tatsu's in a couple of years. It's pretty much the same menu. They could stand to update it a bit. The real problem for us is that there is construction of some kind going on in the building and the whole place smelled like paint thinner when we were there. We almost left because of it. In addition, on a Saturday night, you think they would have a real bartender on duty and not be having the wait staff to mix drinks. We had to look up an ingredient list, and explain how to make a couple of classic cocktails. We weren't the only ones. A table down from us had to explain what was in and how to make a Grasshopper.
Food gets a C
Decore gets a C
Noise level was quiet
The chemical smell gets an F-
My wife & I tend to evaluate based on how a restaurant would compare to one of our favorite NYC places - and Tatsu’s compares very favorably! Margaret took our reservation and also was our server at lunch - and she is a treasure😀! She patiently guided us during our first ever visit, and her recommendations were superb!
The ambience here is everything a good French restaurant should be - we felt like we were in a French home made welcome by the family! The food is the best French food we’ve experienced in 44 years of our marriage and we are coming back to celebrate that 44th anniversary here😀!
I’m already planning on bringing other family members here - we are thrilled to have found this in KC.
Well, I like liver! And it’s done to perfection.
Possibly the gin and tonic could be better, not asked if the gin being used is ok.
But still I rated them 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
Delicious food as ALWAYS! They never disappoint at Tatsu’s
Dinner was fantastic- server delightful and dessert so yummy!
always a wonderful dining experience one of the main reasons is the ambiance the lack of noise it is quiet and suitable for conversation
Tatsu's never disappoints-always good food, great ambiance and friendly service. Our fiends stayed on until they were ready to close service for lunch, such an intimate setting for our luncheons, in a quiet corner of Prairie Village.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server was just right-attentive but not pushy. Always a great place to dine.
We have chosen Tatsu’s for our annual anniversary dinner for 38 years! When I made the reservation I noted that it was a anniversary. Nothing was acknowledged or anything special done. Very disappointed 😞
Took my wife out and happened to see this place on open table. First time visiting and we were blown away. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. This is our new French restaurant and we highly recommend you try for yourself.
Server kept messing up our orders and things were forgotten or wrong. The food itself sorely needed seasoning. I’ve eaten at Tatsu’s more than 200 times. Sadly, this was the worst experience I’ve had there after many wonderful experiences.
Consistently very good food and service. A special occasion place for us. Ambiance is the best. Quiet but friendly. Will definitely be back.
Very nice restaurant for special occasions.
The service was slow, food took a long time.
Great food and service as always. Limited V day menu, but hit the right spots. A not so hidden GEM!
Valentines Day was wonderful
