Tark's Grill Ratings and Reviews
Lunch at tarks: absolutely the best shrimp salad wrap I have ever had —- anywhere and at any price. Service was exceptional and the manager even stopped by to see if we were enjoying our meal; a nice touch. This lovely restaurant will certainly be our new”go to” restaurant.
Satisfactory neighborhood restaurant
We have eaten at this restaurant located where many previous restaurants have come and gone. While the external patio is attractive, particularly in good weather and the interior seating is OK with several booths as well as separate tables, it is attractive without being "special." As to the food, it too is dependable but not outstanding. Our crab cakes were OK but this native specialty is done better in many other venues. Also all the food could be served much hotter. There are also better bargains regarding wine prices and overall value.
We had asked for a table in one of the smaller rooms because of the noise level in the larger rooms, when I made the reservation last week. There were private parties in the smaller rooms. We then asked for a booth. Were told they were reserved. All of them were not reserved and the hostess reluctantly sat us in one of the booths. Mumbling to us that they were being held for larger parties. Felt we were treated like a second class customer. We did leave earlier than we wanted. The restaurant was full and very noisy. Definitely a problem for this restaurant. I would warn friends that I would recommend this restaurant that it was very noisy.
We have been going to “tarks” for about a year, ever since the restaurant had new owners. We have never been disappointed. We try to always make a reservation because it is a busy place, but on occasion when we have just stopped by we only waited a few minutes. On those occasions we were invited to sit at the bar to wait for our table and the bar is a very exciting place. The drinks were delicious and the vibe was energetic and fun. Our dinner -delicious. I selected Lobster Pappadelle and my husband selected the crab cakes. Both entrees were ‘over the top’. Our server was friendly and attentive. This is our favorite restaurant in the county.
It was ok, just ok. We have dined often since they have been open. It seems to have lost something under the new ownership. Much brighter lighting, nowhere near as crowded as in the past. Crab dip was very good. Duck, burger, crab cake were ok. Waiter was attentive, but he messed up, as usual. (or it might have bee the kitchen). We ALWAYS order our Caesar salads with NO dressing. We just eat it dry. We don't like Caesar dressing & try to limit calories. Somehow I ate about 3/4 of my salad before realizing it had dressing. I know- how could I have not noticed? I kept thinking it was just an abundance of grated parmesean. Anyway- I told the waiter. I was a bit horrified- I hate Caesar dressing. The salad was not taken off the check. I asked the waiter about it and he said: "but you ate it". (in a snarky tone). Anyway- I will be more careful. So many restaurants ignore our requests for "no dressing". Maybe they will improve. But for now, it's a solid 3 stars.
Under new ownership Turks has really gone downhill. They have changed the menu for the worse. I don't understand why, because they used to have great items like chicken pot pie. To be avoided, which is too bad, because there are few alternatives in the area.
The manager really impressed us! Out 9 4 - year - old friend was celebrating his birthday . The Mgr came to chat with us and later got to the door to open it for us, shake hands with the celebrant , thank him for coming and ask him to plz return ! Very impressive !
Restaurant was clean. Service was fair (waiter may have been new?). Ordered the Bronzino-- half of the fish was VERY salty but ate it any how as I did not want to make a scene for our guests. The potatoes were room temp but the waiter brought another order which was sufficiently hot and very tasty. I will probably return but not too soon. The waiter was advised of the problem with the fish which both me and my wife ordered and aside from an apology nothing else was done.
The last time we were at Tark's, it was pretty good. The crab cakes this time had very little jumbo lump crab and tasted very fishy. The other appetizers and entrees were fair, at best. The manager tried to help our waiter who had to be flagged down for drink refills, etc. It was not a good dining experience.
Food was very good, didn’t wait for table. My only complaint is that the server removed things from our table while we were eating and then removed my dinner plate without asking if I was finished, while my friend was still eating. When she came back I said something to her. She should have asked if I was finished. Overall our lunch was good and the atmosphere lovely.
My friend took me there for my birthday last week. Everything about this place is terrific.
I highly recommend to you for whatever you are celebrating...even if it is just a meal with a friend. I have even gone there alone for dinner and enjoyed everything.
The photographs on the walls are interesting.
My cousin & I were at Tark's on October 5th to celebrate a birthday. We agreed that it was a great place to celebrate a special occasion. We were able to be seated outside,
which, I believe is far more pleasant , on a nice-weather day, than inside. I ordered bronzino, which was excellent, as were the sides. Service was good, as was the general vibe, being enjoyed by lot of diners, there .
Great food and good selection - was hard to decide if we should order entrees or just try a bunch of apps and small plates. Fried oysters are perfect - could use a little more of the sauce, but great. The risotto mozzarella sticks were delicious and the cheesesteak spring rolls were fun. The rockfish was a little bland, but cooked perfectly. Could use a little more seasoning. Drinks were delicious (strong, but good). Not enough room for dessert!
