We had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner at Taranta. Inventive Italian/Peruvian menu, friendly service, and cozy North End setting.
Best Pork Chop EVER! Fantastic meatball appetizers. Excellent bottle of red wine - Caliterra from Chile (Cab blend). Will be back for sure!
The food was very good overall. The pasta was fabulous, the Amazon paiche a nice change. Our waiter forgot to place the order for one of our appetizers which was regrettable, with no apology. Dessert, cannoli were fresh but bland.
Excellent with custom flavors that were served perfectly.
Causa de Cangrejo is well beyond great, the Coccio di Pesce e Legumi suffered only by comparison, it would normally be considered superior.
Pappardelle con Funghi Porchini was rich and smoky.
Paiche Amazone cannot be beat.
And, finally, the cicha morada glaze makes the Mini Cheesecake an experience not-to-be-missed.
The non-food details here are also worth mentioning, the excellent eclectic music, the attentive and informative (but not intrusive or cloying) service, the comfortable space, all add up to a “must go” experience.
The entire experience was wonderful, from the pisco sour to the special of the day. Thank you so much! I came from Minneapolis and this more than exceeded my expectations.
We had an amazing time with even better food! Highly recommend starting with Pisco Sours and Causa. The Fusilli Avellinesi was AMAZING and was a very generous portion!
Very impressive place. We walked around the North End afterwards and it seems that Taranta feels the most intimate out of all the other places we seemed. Food and service were excellent.
Took my wife there for Valentine's Day and it was a nice atmosphere. Good crowd and service. I enjoyed the plate I ordered but my wife not so much. The food was a bit spicy for her (she has no tolerance for spicy foods) and the salmon she ordered was dry and didn't seem fresh. Otherwise the night would have been great but obviously the evening was a bit tarnished.
The worst service I've had in a while. Went for Valentine's day which was a prix fixe menu. Took 20 minutes for our server to greet us after we were seated, took our order and never asked if we wanted to order drinks, water glasses stayed empty throughout the whole meal. Dropped the check before we even finished our deserts. Service was not representative of $110 per plate meal and food was ok.
My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day dinner. The set menu was amazing and although it was a little pricey, it was some of the best Italian food I’ve had in Boston.
Amazing food, beautiful ambiance, great location, super staff
I've dined at Taranta before and its been a North End favorite but we weren't impressed with the food this time, unfortunately. The bread was cold- not even room temperature but COLD. The arugula served on the salad special was not proportional to the few beets and small round of goat cheese that accompanied it. I also remembered the lobster ravioli being better, as its something I've ordered in the past. Risotto with the salmon entree was very undercooked- crunchy rather than the expected creamy that should be characteristic of risotto. Hopefully it was just an off night! The server was lovely and tiramisu dessert was exceptional.
This was our 3rd time at Taranta, and as before we enjoyed a delicious dinner and had excellent service. Their fusion of Italian and Peruvian cuisine is uniquely tasty. To start we had pisco sours, which were yummy and refreshing. For entrees one of us had the grilled paiche, a sweet and meaty fish; one of us had the double-cut pork chops, a delectable and satisfying dish; and the third had the gnocchi, also a scrumptious pasta dish. We will certainly be back to enjoy more.
Taranta has a cozy and friendly atmosphere. The owner is great and provided excellent service. This is the real deal for great Italian. Delicious handmade pasta, inventive fish dishes, excellent wine recommendations. The food was upscale and delicious but not pretentious or fussy. Wines are all biodynamic and the food is sustainably sourced. Thoughtful presentation and a lovey meal. Highly recommend this sweet little spot.
The website was VERY impressive. Great menus, travel opportunities (yes this is a restaurant), cooking classes, you name it. The promise of a fusion of Peruvian and Italian seemed promising and the menus online had the challenging tastes in my family (dairy-free pescatarian, meat eater, pasta eater) feeling like we found a great option. I was a little disappointed that the restaurant proved almost too small and quiet relative to the website presence and the food, while good, didn’t seem to align with all the options we each picked out from the online menus.
I get it, menus change... but it’s disappointing when you go with one expectation level and you arrive and realize some guests will have 2 or perhaps a single dinner entree option.
The restaurant was very accommodating, service was great, and the ambiance was nice. Just felt like we didn’t have the night/dinner we were all hoping for as measured by that quiet lull after the menus were handed out and the struggle people had to find an option.
Very good and different dishes
Great meal served quickly as we had a Celtics game to get to. Everyone lived their dishes.
There for a birthday! The restaurant staff did an awesome job making the occasion special!
I have never had anything but an amazing experience at Taranta. The food is delicious and I would recommend trying whatever is being offered as a special. All the servers are extremely knowledgeable and can help you make the difficult decision of which delicious meal to order. The desserts are a great size for sharing - not overly sweet - and a great variety.
The food and service was outstanding! A define A+
Had a wonderful time! Food was amazing!! Fresh ingredients! Service was fantastic!!
Had a great arriversary dinner.
A bit pricey, but the food was delicious. Seems like they justify charging a premium solely because of the gastronomic prestige of the word Peruvian.
Best food, good wine by the glass, very friendly and efficient staff. We will be back if coming to Boston again !
Mix of Peruvian and Italian is a great hit in the plate.
Perfect! One of my favorite restaurants for a special meal
I eat at Taranta two times or three times a year. They are very consistent and the food (flavors, presentation, textures) is great. The paiche (a fish) is always great. I also particularly enjoy their muscles and great flavors, great for dipping bread. The staff is always super courteous and knowledgeable
Went before the Elton John concert at the Garden which was a close walk so great location. The service was pretty slow. After we ordered our food i saw a bunch of tables who sat after us get their food first. They also didn’t have soda so I wouldn’t recommend it for families.
Delicious Peruvian dishes, a real treat! Nice ambience and helpful waiter. Would highly recommend!
Unique and delicious entrees served up in a quiet, low key cafe atmosphere. Our waiter was helpful in explaining the menu and making recommendations based upon our food preferences. Will definitely pop in here again when we are in the North end.
The food was good the service was good but in general I was not blown away.
The fusion of Italian and Peruvian cuisine created a unique flavor that we truly enjoyed. The service was great too.
The folks at Taranta were incredibly accommodating to our large party and our need for several people to pay separately. Our table ordered a range of entrees both meat and pasta and everyone was pleased with their choices. The Peruvian specialties of the crab appetizer and the gnocchi were particularly good.
Our party of 4 dined upstairs on a Saturday night . Food was quite good, and service attentive. Noise level made conversation difficult and tables were too close to each other for comfort.
Service was very good. Knowledgeable wait staff and didn’t rush your experience. Food was great. Unique menu Familiar foods prepared with. Peruvian influence. Flavors were fabulous. Worth the experience
Been to Taranta many times, never disappoints. Their cane sugar glazed double cut pork chop is amazing!
I loved the Peruvian twists. We tried a ravioli special that was a riff on Ahi de Gallina, which was excellent. We also had the yuka gnocchi - wonderful. We will definitely be back.
A but disappointed overall. Service was fine, food was fine, but nothing was exceptional. No issues, but just average. Would try somewhere else before I’d go again.
Absolutely delicious. I had the double chop pork chop and husband had the fish. Very romantic setting and had a bottle of wine while we waited on our food. Took about 30 min for food. But they tell you ahead of time when you order. Which gave us time to talk and enjoy our wine.
This was a great dining experience! I was a little hesitant to have a Peruvian dish but my husband and I were pleased with our dinners. And the desserts are wonderful! I urge everyone to visit Tarantas. You will love it!
