Great dinner. Atmosphere is romantic if not a little on the loud size when the upstairs dining room was full.

Food was excellent, started with meatballs. Nice spicy, garlicky sauce.

Wife had the lobster rav, I had the tagletelle special with HUGE chunks of lobster, scallops, and mussels. Both excellent.

Enjoyed that with a bottle of a Super Tuscan.

Overall, 5 stars. Great job

I have had two very different experiences at Taranta. The first time I went there, things were good. Which accounts for why I was happy to return. This last time, I was quite disappointed. Hopefully, this review will help people with dietary restrictions. Based on my first visit and a look at the menu, I thought I was going to have enough dairy-free and gluten-free options to have a satisfying meal. The truth is that almost all of their vegetables and ALL of their sauces are cooked with butter. Unlike other restaurants, they cannot make a vegetable or a sauce on the spot without butter. I didn't completely explore their pasta sauces, but the ones that I asked about had butter in them, as well. This left me with a $39 filet mignon on a SMALL bed of escarole. I eat much less than I used to. I'm usually too full when I leave a restaurant. I left hungry planning which supermarket to visit to satiate my stomach. Side note - you know it's a bad sign when multiple staff insist that there are eggs in their food and they do not understand that dairy products are made from milk.

This is such a unique spot in the North End. Clever, hearty dishes that marry Peruvian and Italian cuisine. Personable staff, cozy environment, and great value for the money.

Great meal as always. Loved the fried calzone appetizers and lobster ravioli! My wife got the yuca gnocchi. Lamb ragu was killer!

We made 7:00 pm reservations for a Friday evening dinner and we were greeted and seated immediately. The food was superior from the appetizer plate for 2, to the amazingly delicious cheese cake and cappuccino dessert & coffee. I had the double pork chop which was enough for 4, perfectly prepared and wonderful. (Both for dinner Friday AND lunch Saturday!) My wife enjoyed her hand cut pappardelle pasta in a Puccini mushroom sauce. Also easily enough for at least 2 and amazingly good. Still not sure which of us had the better dinner. If there were any negatives, they were the noise level was loud and the main first floor dining room was cold with a constant bluster of ice cold air every time the door opened. They hung a curtain to attempt to block the wind and cold but still permeated through the dining room. Bottom line, the pluses far outweighed the negatives as our reason for going was to enjoy excellent cuisine and they excelled in their endeavor.

The Paiche Amazone (fish) was fantastic. Portions were just right. There were only 2 other groups eating so we could hear each other talk and service was prompt. We will go again

Very nice option for the North End. Creative dishes including a Peruvian touch. Italian dishes gnocchi and seafood ravioli were excellent. Didn’t order the Pork Chop but it looked enticing on another table. We will return again especially because the menu changes often.

Have usually been quite pleased with the dining here. This time my salad was so salty as to be completely inedible and my mushroom pasta dish was somewhat bland (as if the first course had too much and the second too little). My spouse's meal was good so I'm not sure what happened to mine.

A fun server; quaint and close space in the north end; the mussels are like French onion soup meets the sea and it’s amazing; all dishes were full of taste and well plated.

I brought my in laws for a total party of 5. It’s a tight squeeze once it gets busy, but worth it.

Pricey but the food was outstanding. Really glad we went and will go again. Paiche de amazon, lamb shank, salmon, and the special ravioli were all super tasty and unique. Really liked the decor and ambiance, busy but not noisy and I do not like noisy restaurants- this was very pleasant experience all around.

Amazing food, we went to celebrate a birthday and we were at awwe with everything the food & service was amazing. I have many food allergies which it’s always a concern when going to restaurant but our server went over the top and was super accommodating. Dessert amazing. We truly had an amazing experience an can’t wait to go back.

This was an excellent, high-end place in an area where there are seemingly hundreds of restaurants. While the food was well prepared, and the glass of wine generous,there were negatives. The space is small and one feels crowded. The prices were somewhat high for what one got. And the bread was way below the quality of the rest of the food.

This was our 2nd time at Taranta, and we were still very impressed by the distinctive fusion of Peruvian and Italian cuisines offered by the restaurant. The chicken entree was juicy and tender; the pork chop was humongous and delicious. Also, the pisco sours were yummy! We definitely recommend Taranta!

Once in awhile you get “foodie Kismet”. The intersection of divine flavor and attentive but not smothering service. Mingle in good friends, stimulating conversation, and fabulous ambiance. Lucky us. The experience is treasured and complete. Bravo Taranta! We’ll be back.

What a great experience. We had the pasta special and the paiche amazone, a fish from the Amazon. Ended with the limoncello flute and the house take on tiramisu. Food is phenomenal and our server, who also bar tended and functioned as the barista was great. Spent 2 and a half hours there and enjoyed it thoroughly.

A friend of mine recommended this restaurant and I thought it was interesting to have Italian-Peruvian fusion. I was thrilled with my selection of the Amazone Paiche. It was cooked just right. My only complaint is the noise level is a bit high even with not that many people. Not sure what could be done about acoustics, but the food was delicious.

Great old building. We were on the second level which was quieter than the first. Service was excellent. The paiche was superb as was the lucumisu (a great variation of tiramisu). The only drawback on the meal was that my trout was a bit over cooked as it kept cooking in the cast iron serving dish once on the table.

Service was great! Food amazing and creative. The mussels incredible. Had the pappardelle with mushrooms and it was great. Other people at our table ordered Gnocchi and fish special and all very good.

Great experience. Food was deliciious and our server, Maris, was super knowledgeable had great personality and provided helpful recommendations. Highly recomnend for a different take on the typical North End fare. Cool drinks as well. Highly recommend.

Taranta is not your normal restaurant in the North End because it is Peruvian and Italian. So if you're expecting to eat meatballs and spaghetti, think again. This food is complex, different and delicious. Try my favorite...stuffed chicken breast. We've been to many restaurants in Boston and the North End. This is one of the best!
