The ambience was nice and the server was very pleasant, but the overall quality of the food was not great despite being pricey.
This place has an incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic staff, a great, casual environment, and a versatile menu with so many options. I have never been disappointed and always feel welcome and appreciated when I get dinner there. It's especially convenient if you are headed to one of the theaters around their location.
Incredible experience all around! The food is absolutely phenomenal & very reasonably priced for the quality (think high-end French meets brewery vibe). Owner was great & took the time to personally visit our table. We couldn’t have been more pleased & we will definitely be back next time we’re in SD!
The food cooked to perfection! Loved every minute of our dining experience. It did take awhile to get our check but they were busy. The staff was definitely hustling through. 100% recommend!
Great food and service at a reasonable price. Noise level low, so nice place to sit and talk over business lunch.
The portions are not quite tapas size as you'd expect if you have been to Barcelona. Also the flavors are confusing as they have ribs to asian influences calamari.. This place with just okay.
Big conference at the San Diego conference center and most places were booked solid. I searched Open Table and found this gem. It was pretty much the real last interesting restaurant within walking distance and I am very happy to pick this place. My colleagues and client guests were extremely happy with the service and food. The 'tapas' portions were mid to large in size and absolutely delicious.
Will recommend this place to anyone for fusion Spanish/French/American influenced tapas.
We were so happy we left a big tip!
Great place. Prices were fair for outstanding food. Staff was great too.
Server was great!!!
Food was underwhelming.
They really need to hire more help. And they need to upgrade the bathroom.
Such a great little restaurant with HUGE charm. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming. The service was amazing and felt like a friend was serving you. We went before we saw a show at San Diego Civic Theatre and it just made the night perfect. I would highly recommend.
We were going to a show at the Civic Theater and picked Tapas and Beer because it was close. The service was great, the ambiance was fine, the drink list was decent, but the food was very average. As a group of three, we tried 3 small plates, a variety of crostini’s, and 2 of the flatbreads. Nothing stood out as particularly delicious and it was pretty overpriced for the quality and quantity.
I went there to have our holiday party. recommended by a friend. I was not disappointed! I had a good time, there was so much good food to choose from and great beer. The service was wonderful and very personalized. I felt like our group was the only one there, yet the place was full!. I will definitely be returning when i am able to stay longer and make an evening of it.
Great Job Guys!
Great food and great service. A real find!
Great food & service as always! Best place to dine before theatre/dance performances in the area.
Food wasn’t great. Ribs had too much sauce that tasted more like ketchup than bbq. The tuna candies were so hard so eat as the rice was so hard. The Brussels sprouts were good but covered in oil and some sweetener. The charcuterie platter was disappointing in terms of variety. The California flatbread was just ok. The beer selection was also disappointing in terms of variety.
Great lunch menu
My mother, sister, and I were looking for a light meal before heading to the theater. The tapas were very good and just the thing. We particularly enjoyed the chorizo deviled eggs, pan tomate with prosciutto, and hummus, all of which were well flavored. We also had a paella which I would skip next time as it was a bit overcooked.
Terrific food. We ate outdoors and the weather was perfect. Only one problem - the people loitering behind us outside the back of Spreckles Theater (employees/crew?) were loud and smoking pot. The smell somewhat ruined the smell and joy of the food and wine, along with the ambiance. I'm sure if we had chosen to eat inside, everything would have been great. All in all, I would highly recommend it! We were celebrating my sister's birthday and the smell of the marijuana really bothered her and she complained continuously, as I.
My favorite place for tasty soup and sandwich. Their butternut squash soup is my favorite in all of San Diego and same for their tuna salad sandwich. All their ingredients are fresh and so very tasty. I don't work downtown as much anymore, but when I get the opportunity this is always a for sure stop.
Always a great place to go.
It’s heartbreaking to come to a place like this. It has so much potential, but just flops. Food is ok, just heated up and displayed on paella skillet and cheese board. Soup was barely hot and flavorless. Beer was good, thank goodness right? Worst of all, service was so poor. It took forever to get a menu, then drink order, then food came in in no specific order. I hope this place gets it together. Too bad we won’t see that happen.
The food was mediocre. My daughters burger was charred and over cooked and I had to send my crab cakes back because they were so deep fried as to be inedible.
Service was slow too.
We love the menu, the staff, the location. Never a complaint.
Big party taking place. Very noisy. Burgers over cooked.
Fun place for dinner before a play!😁😎Spanish aspect of food was great and very friendly service staff.
Everything was mediocre. What a disappointment. I had read good reviews, but the food was basically ok, but boring.
And they're nice folks, too. A pleasure to dine with them.
Delicious food - we really enjoyed it. A nice variety of small plates and entrees. It was close to the theater too which was a bonus. We had very good service. Really enjoyed it - I would definitely go back!!
Love the food, love the service, love owner Nael and his wife; our pre-theatre go-to eatery every time!
Awesome place! Definitely coming back!
This is one of the best pre-theater restaurants in the area! Great food and service!
We always enjoy dining here as the service is so personable and food so delicious. We’ve not had a bad experience and have been here multiple times. I do advise making a reservation to secure a table if you have a show or performance to catch.
Enjoyed the meat platter and Brie. Great price. Added value for happy hour.
great place, food was fantastic and love the iced brew taps!
Great food! Small portions so you can try different things. Service was superb! I will be back!
Overall good food, was expecting a bit more Spanish with the name “Tapas” but the plates were tasty and visually pleasing. Good beer and wine selection. Would visit again.
This our go to place prior to attending play at Civic Center. Food is always delicious, we started with mushroom and butternut squash soup which was excellent. We had steak and quinoa salad which was excellent. Beer selection is amazing. We will continue to dine here prior to events at Civic Center.
Love this place! Great food & great service! Great for pre-theatre dining!
