Really good food and service. Quiet enough to have a conversation without yelling. Strange name for a restaurant since they are a French and Spanish restaurant. Would go back.

Almost never leave reviews on here but really incredible experience here. Owners are such interesting people and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the lamb chops, as goos as any I've had at a restaurant.

The food and service was all I expected and more! Attentive but not too. Knowledgeable and helpful. Patient with a many questions. The Blackstone Brewing Co, Medusa (stout) a real treat for this stout lover. Pialla, scallops, pear salad fresh and flavorful. Their Burnt Cheesecake with in-house strawberry jam is a spectacular surprise! No, it doesn't have any burnt taste or appearance😂 Just yummm!

Amazing food and outstanding wine! These folks really know what they’re doing. For the best experience visit early before the rush and make reservations. I’ve been there three times with three different groups of people and without exception everyone loved what they ordered. Highly recommend.

Hidden gem! A chill atmosphere with wonderful owners who serve the great food with personal attention. Perfect before a show or a night after a stressful day. Not a big restaurant. Cozy and charming. You will love it!

I have eaten here several times and I am always pleased with both my meal and the service. The waitress is delightful and friendly. If you are going before a theater performance you should make a reservation.

What a find for before the theatre dining. Even with 2 events happening the same night they were able to handle a large crowd with grace and excellent food. Lots of good choices for light plates. We chose truffle fries, tomato toast, lobster bisque and caprese. Every dish was done perfectly. Wine selection was good. Cute bistro feel to the restaurant. Our server was able to serve a sold out crowd with a smile. We will definitely be coming back before our next downtown event.

We have dined at Tapas & Beers twice within a month period. Both times we enjoyed our meals and looking forward to go again and try different dishes. So far between both visits we have tried the following: Sausage Sampler French Burger with Truffle Fries Seafood Paella Chicken Pesto Rigatoni Grilled Black Angus with the Sautéed Vegetables Basque Burnt Cheesecake We have also tried at least 5 or 6 different beers from their selection. They have a great variety of beers. Cocktails are premade (canned). They do have a decent wine selection as well to pair with your meal if you prefer a wine with dinner. All of them have been amazing. You can taste the quality. The owners, which I presume to be the owners which are at the front of the restaurant, they tend, host, serve and cater to all the patrons. You can pick up their french accent, both are friendly and very knowledgeable of the food and every single ingredient that goes into every one of their dishes. We look forward to come back. My fiance and I are from Orange County and when we are in San Diego, we will make sure to reserve a table. The location is within walking distance if you are staying anywhere near the Balboa Theatre (Gaslamp Quarter). Give this place a try, you won't regret it.
