   One of the coolest Asian-style restaurants in Detroit - this place exudes "hip" from its music to ambiance. Thankfully, the food is the start of the show, with some amazing dishes that work well as shareable. The cocktails were interesting and highly unique. We like literally everything we date and drank there (yes, even the water was chilled perfectly) and cannot wait to go back. Even with a fin fish allergy (don't ask), the staff had provided an updated menu telling me what I could and couldn't eat. At first, I was disappointed as many of their protein dishes (think spare ribs and chicken) were off limits due to the liberal use of fish sauce, but I was increasingly surprised and impressed by every dish we had, from the small crispy coconut-flavored appetizers, to the ramen bowl in a coconut broth to the homemade ice cream. How do I know this is a great restaurant? I generally do NOT like coconut flavors - yet every dish we tried had coconut in it and was perfectly paid with other more desirable (to me) flavors - lime, cilantro, sesame, thai basil and tamarind. If I had to nitpick one thing, it was paying $3 for a homemade roti - yes it was good, but $3 is a little steep. Despite this, I felt the overall value was good (dinner for 2 with 2 cocktails, appetizer, 3 dishes and desert - and yes, one roti) was under $200. Last, the service as impeccable - casual cool would be the best way to describe it. I appreciate knowledgable waitstaff who offer recommendations based on taste preferences. Honestly, one of the best meals I've had this year - and I just got back from Vegas ;-). Would definitely comeback here with friends and anyone who wants to try a variation on traditional Thai/Vietnamese/Japanese/Chinese cuisine!!

   Everything was fantastic. However the noise is so intense that even my 36 year old daughter found it disruptive. We packed up the delicious food and left. Takoi - it needn’t be this way. Please put some sound dampening in. It is bad for guests and your staff.

   Fantastic service, great options, stellar cocktails, & phenomenal food. I highly recommend getting a meal at Takoi, you won’t regret it.

   We loved the food. Loved the male bartender nut the female bartender was very condescending and the only negative but extreme negative as it ruined the experience...if I could have tipped additional and known she wouldn't get half, I would have...but food was great and different from what I expect from Thai food. Needed more heat is all.
