Best spot for Happy Hour, celebrating with friends, and overall good food!
Best spot in Old Town
Delicious food for a good price at happy hour!
We love coming to Tahona for Date Night! Always a great experience from the food to ther service.
Always amazed by this place! Plus didn’t know Tuesday was taco Tuesday with discounted items! Such an awesome surprise. Always recommend
Made a reservation for indoor dining but host placed us outside; ambience not the same and food was not as great as previous experience. Won’t be returning here again.
This is a good place if you are looking for a large selection of tequila and other alcoholic drinks. We liked the menu because we weren't looking for a big meal, but it is limited. We didn't have any spirits either.
Great Drinks, yummy appetizers, not the best service.
It’s a bar……with some food. Really salty food.
Service was really really bad. I get it- pandemic and no one wants to work…love the outdoor street experience.
Add some real food to menu and it would be a game changer
Fun environment! Good food and our server Jim was great!
Poor service and to be honest the tacos were not very good.
Always have an amazing experience at Tahona. They have such incredibly knowledgeable staff that make excellent recommendations on drinks and food.
Terrible service despite the vast amount of staff standing around. Eg. When we asked the server about the dish, he blatantly said “I don’t know, I’m just here to be pretty”
Our favorite spot in old town hands down!
I have high hopes for this restaurant after the reviews on open table, but we left very disappointed. The ambience was fantastic. The service was very slow, and the food Just didn’t taste good. We try to variety of items On the menu. The best was a non-alcoholic fresh fruit drink. The margarita and tacos we’re very average. The salad and pork rinds served with guacamole we’re just gross. Save yourself some time and money and go other places for a good dinner in old town.
The food was good but not great. We are vegetarians and usually have more options to choose from. We had to send a drink back (we NEVER do) because it was so bitter we couldn't drink it.
Horrible Service. I left..
Never once saw our server after he seated us, the phone ordering was more complicated then it needed to be, and our food and drinks were brought out at completely random times.
Good food, great service. The birria tacos were the best, cauliflower tacos pretty bland.
such a fun spot in old town to celebrate cinco de mayo. delicious food and cocktails. the bien picado was delish!
Have been twice now. First, experience near perfect with friendly, knowledgeable waitress and outstanding eats. Second visit was bizarre.
Waiter got drink order wrong after being shown on the menu and then brought the same (incorrect drink) when we sent the drink back.
After telling my girlfriend that they had vodka (she has an actual allergy to agave drinks) he told her that bartenders would not substitute this in any of the cocktails (I'm understanding that some restaurants will not alter their cocktail recipes). That being said, he acted like he was unsure of this fact so I asked him to check with them for us which he fought me on for a good 5 minutes. Once I convinced him to just check in with the bartender he did not return to table at all for a good amount of time. When he came back he acted like we had never had the conversation (should mention he also had not gotten most of our party's drink order at that point). He never apologized or admitted fault for the misunderstanding.
Luckily a manager largely took over the table. He gave us a tasting of mezcal and comped one of our dessert. He was very nice and apologetic for the misunderstanding which was greatly appreciated.
I think this place has the potential to be one of the more unique and delicious places in old town. Hope they can get the service back up to snuff though.
Bad food, good drinks. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Excellent ... everything was super! Our service was fabulous ... food & drinks were wonderfully presented and super tasty ... ambiance was perfect. Live music was so fun!
Everything was excellent! HIGHLY recommend!
The barbaco is fantastic! Great food and nice atmosphere.
Mezcal was awesome. Food was not typical Mexican. Good attempt at fusion. Limited food menu.
Not many vegetarian options but amazing cocktails!!
Amazing, can’t wait to come back. Awesome tacos, awesome cocktails.
We had a wonderful experience at Tahona. The food and bev was very much tasty! The service was spectacular as well. From the moment we arrive they were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning here. Tahona has made it to our SD eats list!
Excellent food and cocktails. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Live music was nice. Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The mole trio dish was excellent.
Amazing service, Wonderful food and drinks, with a fascinating historical location! *Chefs kiss
My Aunt mentioned she wanted to try out this restaurant since they served mezcal. She later revealed that she and her coworkers had meant to come her before COVID and before the winter surge. Since that didn’t happen, she texted her drinking partner (me! 🙋🏻♀️ aka her niece). I made the reservation via the Open Table app and the happy hour food was delicious! We ordered a second round of appetizers and drinks. Total bill of $230 + tip = $260+ for a party of 5 (Mothers & Daughters + male DD lol). We had an amazing time! The food and drinks were totally worth it. Better than Cafe Coyote, Fred’s, and Miguel’s!!!
From the check in process all the way to the signing of our tab, a class act crew.
Horrible experience! I first showed up with no reservation and was told it would take about 45 minutes to be seated. I left and was able to make a reservation for 8 o’clock. When I returned and tolde the manager/host “ I have a reservation” he replied “it’s still gonna take a while dude”
My girlfriend and I were seated at the same time as another couple. We arderse practically at the same time (we only ordered a couple of drinks) the other couple got their drinks, then their food and we still waited; but no drinks came. After I saw the server delivering more stuff to the other table, I made him a gesture to ask about our drinks. He left and came back a few minutes later with more stuff for the other table. After waiting for more than 30 minutes for our drinks, we decided to leave as it seemed our business was not welcomed there. Overall just a horrible experience for me. I’m sure it’s a good place for others but for me it just wasn’t at all.
Delicious food and cocktails! Great for a date night or catching up with old friends.
Always an amazing time at Tahona. Beautiful food, knowledgeable and friendly staff, yummy drinks, and cozy atmosphere. Closest to being in Oaxaca you can get tho side of the border!
We were nervous to come here after one of us had a bad experience with service in the past . Long story short, it was taking almost a half hour to get their first long to get their first round of drinks . He went to ask the server about it and found everyone taking shots by the kitchen. Not a good look! But we decided to come back today to give it another shot because I thought the reviews looked good and the happy hour seemed like a good deal. The food had no issues the drinks were also pretty good but the service! Bad. Sadly it seems they did not improve in the last few months. Inattentive waiter blaming all the issues on the busy bar. It seemed like he was the only server in the restaurant so he was definitely busy but still did not seem to care about the lack of attention he was able to give our table. Like at least give a little check in to acknowledge there’s an issue. Took over 30 minutes to get our drinks. And things did not improve throughout the evening. At one point we almost left but we knew we couldn’t get into any of the other restaurants in the area with long lines. I think this restaurant just needs to get their staffing organized. Could be a great place it has such a cute atmosphere but sadly none of us will be returning.
No bueno!! Not my favorite restaurant anymore. Horrible experience I’m out 4 good
Amazing. Secret and exotic local best kept secret. Richard and Monica were the bomb and the food is amazing!!!!
Lovely food and outstanding drinks.
Overall wonderful experience. Of course missed dining inside the beautiful restaurant but the outside seating was great. Always amazing drinks and food! Shrimp tacos were the best!
