The staff was very accommodating as the entrance to the restaurant was not wheelchair accessible, but the staff gave us a lift to get our friend into the restaurant. That in itself says a lot. The manager said that they would look into getting a ramp. The food was really tasty, well-prepared and the sangria is just to die for!!!!! Just be careful when walking as the floor is a tad slippery !!!

We were a group of 5 out to celebrate a birthday and was great because the restaurant was cozy and quiet so we could converse without shouting. Also the food was very good and the service friendly and professional.

Excellent spot tucked away on a very charming narrow Old Montreal street. Super moist chicken done Portuguese style, a great value including olives/chick peas to start and a very nice side salad and/or fries combo. Extra piri-piri sauce on the side adds an extra zing, though it's not at all burning hot (there is plenty of Tabasco on the table for that!). Decent and reasonable wine list, and one Portuguese beer in a bottle. Deserts are tremendous, especially the home-made doughnuts with caramel sauce; also available, a creamy chocolate mousse and a Portuguese cream tart. Overall, an excellent dining experience, reasonably priced, and in a charming old building with exposed stone walls.

Will not be returning. Service was lacking, we asked for drinks twice which never came and then were charged for them! They also forgot to bring us two appetizers we ordered. My main course, the chicken salad had a strong fish taste (sardines).

Excellent cuisine, large selection, reasonable prices, exceptional service. Ambiance is warm and comfortable. Restaurant fills up quickly and everyone including us were having a great time. Great decor and layout. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Offered amazing choices. A couple in the party were vegan and had nothing but great things to say about the dishes that were crafted for them. Great find!

We had an enjoyable meal in a large group (7 people) with excellent and attentive service. We especially enjoyed the piri-piri chicken and the grilled octopus appetizer. The dining room was cozy and comfortable with good acoustics.

Only 2 negatives: The Air Conditioning was not able to handle the job, it was therefore extremely hot in the restaurant (in a suit we would have left), then the waiter was a bit too energetic taking our plates away (no we are not finished!). That aside, this place is awesome, outstanding simple comfort food. Our second visit, and not the last for sure.

We paid a lot for the food/experience we got. The main dishes were good and well priced, but the appetizers were small portions and overpriced. The charcuterie plate was overpriced at $20. The grilled octopus was a very small portion uninspired and overpriced at $13.00. It was hard to find the cod or shrimp in the Croquettes. The tomato salad was extremely disappointing and expensive at $11.00 for a serving of a few slices of unripe tomatoes. (It is a shame to serve unripe tomates when, at this time of year, the markets are full of plump red juicy tomates) Overall an OK restaurant, but would not recommend the appetizers. On the good side the service was great and the wine recommendation was great.

Taberna is a great place to eat with friends. Nice atmosphere and the food was good. The piri piri was great and the chorizo was tasty. I did not love the beef croquettes and the pork was a little dry. The wine was crisp and nice.

Great food but will not likely return until they fix the AC - 2nd time eating here - both times was so hot we were sweating. Waitress told us it has not worked since May. It's a shame because food at ambiance was really nice.

We paid a lot for the food/experience we got. The appetizer (charcuterie plate - $20) came with just slices of cold cuts, very simply presented on a plate. The grilled octopus was ordinary. We had to ask for bread (it does not come automatically with the meal). The main dishes were good. We had to ask for the salads that came with the main dish. They were forgotten and we got them in the end. Some Items (on the wine list and the menu) were not available .
Overall an OK restaurant, but would not recommend it for the price we paid.

Amazing food. Waiter recommended our plates and it was just enough. Everything was amazingly good, including the service. Will definitely return, a bit later as we had dinner at 17:00, to see the ambiance of the place.

Réservation for 6. We arrived 20 Minutes early. They could not seat us. They served us some drinks outside while we waited. Once ready they seated us. Servers were polite, talkative. Food was mainly tapas style. Portions very small, requiring many tapas plates to be ordered. Chorizo was spicy and hot. Tomato salad was ok. Octopus a little squishy for being grilled. Chicken looked dry but I did not have it. Server came to take our order without a pen and paper, then asked us to wait as he hunted down a pen and paper. Had to continually ask servers for water refill. Seemed like junior staff. Bathroom cramped but clean. In general an ok experience and that's about it.

The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice and cute, and the waiters were very polite when we got to the restaurant. They didn’t pay much attention though to our order, they gave me the wrong side to my lunch, but I was short on time so I didn’t mention it to the waitress. And I was very disappointed by the sandwich - meat between two slices of bread? I really thought there would be something more in there, a few veggies and somesuch.

Initially we had great service and a large table set up for us all. Group of 13 for my birthday. The waiter was fast with our drinks. Unfortunately it was so hot and there was no air conditioning which made it very uncomfortable.

Finally our food came out very late, over 2 hours later and my friends that ordered the octopus were told when they asked for it that there was none left after everyone else revived their main meals....it also appeared on their bill.

We had to ask for bread many times. It was overall not a great experience. The chicken was also dry and overcooked. A disappointment.

Service un peu long.
