We had drinks and appetizers on the rooftop and dinner in the main dining area downstairs. The atmosphere was nice but the food was disappointing.
I am Thai so I am spoiled by some very authentic and traditional experiences, but I can also appreciate good Americanized experiences.
All of the appetizers we had were good but in my opinion, the main entrees were not good and overpriced.
Green Curry - bland flavor and mostly heat. It’s interesting that they separate the coconut oil/milk from the dish and allow you to stir it in but I don’t get the point. The curry doesn’t taste very good without the coconut, so it seems strange to separate it.
Whole fried fish - we got the coconut sauce on the side because we prefer the fish to keep it’s crispy texture but we should have gotten the jam on the side too. The jam was overpowering and was too sweet.
Stir Fry Vegetables - they came out drenched in sauce/oil. In my opinion, it sort of defeats the purpose of eating vegetables. The spice level was also too high. Thai food should have some heat but not just for the sake of being hot.
It was a fun atmosphere but I didn’t enjoy the main course. I would go back for drinks and apps!
We love the Son-In-Law and the Street Corn is delicious!
Met up with a friend on Saturday when they opened at 4 since they have happy hour from 4-6 every day (1/2 off all alcohol). We opted for the outdoor patio since we're still being cautious with Covid. I would have loved to sit up on the rooftop but it was booked for an event. All the food was delicious and the wait staff were friendly and informative.
Food was great in presentation but taste was a little lacking. The highlights of our meal were the street corn, son in law, and tres leches. The son in law was served in one of those clay bowls but you could tell it was not made in it because it wasn’t hot or sticking. The ambiance was fun and swanky. Service was great. Outdoor patio seating on the first level is kind of in an awkward spot by where people are walking in from the parking lot and also where the smoking area is.
My wife and I enjoyed a nice romantic diner!! Thanks Sway!
1) our waitress brought the check before she asked if we were done. We wanted to order dessert, more drinks. Felt as if we were getting kicked out. I went back inside and mentioned we wanted more and she returned to take our order but if was off putting and it’s in Sway’s best interest to get us to spend more.
2) thankful to our sway front desk team who promptly asked people who were smoking cigarettes RIGHT by our outside tables to please stop smoking. It happened twice. No fault of sway. I was glad the staff at sway handled it quickly.
So glad we have a safe outdoor space to eat dinner out. Thank you. We will be back.
Absolutely delicious meal! Sway never disappoints!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Tucked away in the outskirts of Austin, it’s a treasure. Only reason we didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the seats out side need cushions. My husband and I were uncomfortable and had lines on our legs afterward :(. But the food and drinks were amazing!! Service was wonderful too.
There were a couple of outstanding dishes, but a surprising number of misses.
The "fudgy brownie" dessert tasted like it was half hard chocolate or ganache - super yuck, we barely touched, I asked not to box it up saying "it's not good" and no one asked about it or offered to take it off the bill - pretty rude on a bigger tab
The crab fried rice just wasn't fried rice. It's a nice rice dish, but bizarre to call it fried rice. I'm a pretty accomplished cook, and... it's just not.
Son in law bowl was, as always, great. The fried chicken starter and corn starter were by far the standouts, so the rest of the meal went downhill, unfortunately.
Also, the roof wasn't avail.
Screw up in reservation time and the hostess didn’t handle it well. Waited 30m to get our table
The service was great! Made a birthday dinner very special and was patient with our larger party. Even brought a scoop of ice cream and a candle w/o us requesting or telling them it was a birthday! Loved everything about the experience, will definitely be back
Amazing spicy flavors. The pork was deliciously prepared. And that mezcal phukat… presentation, smoke and taste. Wonderful meal and great atmosphere!
We love Thai food and have been to restaurants all over America` and this was easily top 3. The food was delicious. We wanted to drink all of the sauces. Portions were great, we left stuffed. We each had two drinks, our kids ate, and we had a dessert- all under $100. Drinks were beautiful and had so much flavor and dimension. 5 stars. We will be back!!
Outstanding, delicious food every time! Highly recommend!
Live music at private party upstairs was a bit load.
Loved it, just wish they had more seating with unobstructed views of the city
The food tasted good, but be warned it’s mostly pre-made or possibly premium bag food. I came to this conclusion after asking if I could have my dishes prepared not using palm sugar. They said all the sauces are pre-made, so they couldn’t do so. None of this means the food was bad tasting, but not made to order like many Thai restaurants I frequent.
Relaxed atmosphere, delicious meals, warm welcome, friendly service. But it would be better if the spiciness can be adjusted. Highly recommend this restaurant
they have large shareable tables. If you are on date and want more privacy, ask for a small table outside.
Great food, great service, nice ambiance. Highly recommend it! Delicious!
Loved it! Great food and staff
the food was exceptional as was the list of alcohols from which to choose. Our waiter was great and very helpful. Love this place but will admit that the noise level inside the dining room makes for difficult conversation. that is the only downside. When the weather is nice, eating outside is the best!
Really hot outside but a wonderful time!
Food and service was excellent. Noise level from background music sound system was unbearable. Had to ask them to turn it down twice. Couldn’t hear one another talking across the table without shouting over it.
Will have a hard time getting my friends ( we were a group of 8) to return.
Wonderful food and terrific service. While we chose to be seated outside, I did not realize our table would be in the full sun! It was a bit warm and uncomfortable and made us rush through our meal. However, the food is great and we will try to come back when it is a bit cooler and possibly on a week night.
So much less in menu options than all the photos you see on Yelp.
There is a nice view of downtown from the rooftop patio. It’s a bit louder up there than downstairs if your objective is good conversation. The creative dishes and craft cocktails are always delicious. Great atmosphere for a celebration or dinner with friends.
Food was excellent! Service was ok.
Absolutely fantastic! The food had a fun twist to regular Thai food. It tasted delicious but most definitely recommend the son in law rice bowl and you must get a dessert. 10/10 would go again!
My favorite austin restaurant of all time for a reason.
Great food and experience. We order several plates to share which I think can be best for those who do not eat here regularly. Great time!
Cocktails were really good and were half price at happy hour.
We only had appetizers - Brussel Sprouts, Corn, and Papaya Salad were outstanding!
Upstairs patio had nice ambience with a nice view of the downtown. Despite the temperature in the upper 90s, the fans and the misters made it comfortable.
Cool vibe, dope happy hour, and food is delish. Definitely try it
Thai food that is prepared like no one else.
Absolutely the best. Service is exemplary and the atmosphere on the roof is very relaxing.
Portions are slightly small for the higher prices but this is a can’t miss dining experience.
Good food, nice wine list, fun signature cocktails and courteous wait staff. This was our second trip. We will return.
When we made the reservation, Open Table asked if we were celebrating a special ocasión and it was our anniversary. First time in 8 years that the restaurant doesn’t address this at all. Not that we are expecting a party but anything to make the celebration more special would be appreciated.
Food was excellent! Everything we ordered I would have again.
There was an insect problem, but the food was delicious. Guests should make sure to sit on the rooftop or inside.
Brandy did a great job of assisting us!! Great food!
The food was good. It took over 20 minutes for anyone to come talk to us, and the person who did wasn’t our server. He took our drink order. Another 15- 20 mins later a different person came over to ask if anyone had checked in on us (also not our server) we place our dinner order since we had now been there for 45 minutes. We didn’t meet our server for another 15 or so mins. And then she checked on us one more time after food arrived. Not a great experience. Felt weird tipping someone who literally did nothing. But maybe we just came on the wrong night.
