Had a wonderful server and food was good
Our waitress was personable and efficient, but did not rush us at all. We love Sustenio, will continue to return here!
New Year’s Eve dinner was absolutely awesome. The staff was excellent, the food was outstanding especially the ribeye, my wife had the steak Oscar which was absolutely fabulous.
The front desk reception on 12/24/19 at approximately 5PM represented a holiday breakfast buffet with a few ‘holiday items’ on the menu. It was only a normal 6 chafing dish breakfast that you would get at the Drury Inn. We were frustrated and had to scramble to find something for dinner. Luckily, JW Marriott Hill country had a great holiday dinner buffet.
We expected something special for Christmas Day brunch and breakfast menus. All we got was the hotel’s usual breakfast options and basic buffet. Hotel staff mentioned we weren’t the only ones to complain about our Christmas expectations. Service was similar to that of a Denny’s or IHOP, and food was just okay.
Read reviews of this restaurant and it sounded like a completely different establishment than the one we encountered at Christmas brunch. We reserved expecting a refined dining experience and some sort of special menu. We confirmed this on the phone. Got there and it was an average hotel breakfast buffet, which even in its simplicity the bumbling staff had trouble executing. Waited in a long line to be seated because they were cleaning the tables. Got in and they didn’t even seem sure if they had other menu items available. The hostess complained to US about how stressed she was and she and the waitress kept asking obsessively if everything was great when it was obviously a joke. We were not the only nonplussed guests dressed to the teeth for what turned out to be a Holiday Inn buffet only with dazed and confused staff fecklessly rushing around. The food was okay but nothing special and did I mention the staff were comically lost. The place I read about was supposedly fine dining. Maybe we wound up at the wrong Sustenio. At least it was cheap.
This brunch was recommended and did not disappoint. The area, the selection, decor all amazing. Thanks for a fantastic experience.
Great ambience and quality. Limited selection of food.
Great for business dinner. We had an enclosed room for our dinner which was helpful for our conversation. Enjoyed the onion dip and the wings as an appetizer. The redfish was perfectly cooked but recommend ordering a side.
The prime rib, turkey & gravy were cold... Mini carrot cakes were dry. The server that took care of us at table side never acknowledged our ‘Thank you’s’
Considering that we had a reservation and the room was not at capacity, not sure why were being seated in front of the buffet, immediately at the prime rib/turkey serving high traffic area
The brunch buffet is good but I think the price should be lowered about $8-$10 (currently $29). Jordan was a GREAT server and very hospitable. Not sure that we would return for the pricey buffet, but I would like to go back for a nice date night dinner. The hotel and restaurant are beautiful and offer complimentary valet if eating at the restaurant. I'm glad that we had a chance to go for brunch. #noregrets
Had a bad bottle of wine which they replaced, but the 2nd bottle had TONS of sediment in it. I think the wine was just too old.
Probably the worst service we have ever had considering we were the only table in the restaurant it should have been super easy, we had to ask her to take our drink orders she did half the table and walked away had to tell another waitress who was coming by for the rest of the drinks. Somebody started choking my husband started to do the heimlich on my mother law as she was choking on a piece of food all the waitress just stood there chatting not once did they even come over, finally the manager came over after and asked if everyone was okay and had to fill the empty water glasses. Usually the food is really good but it was horrible tonight with no flavor, had to get up and go to the kitchen for salt and pepper since again waitresses were to busy chatting with each other, mind you again we are the only table occupied in the entire restaurant
This was our first visit to Sustenio. All in all the evening was enjoyable but we had some disappointments. The food was truly outstanding, tender steaks with an amazing flavor and the Brussel sprouts were wonderful. The mashed potatoes were not hot but were fair in their taste. My friend had the Salmon and said it was delicious. The biggest disappointment was the length of time everything took to arrive at the table. I realize all the food was made to order but it took over 40 minutes for our entrees to be served. The water was tepid and served without ice. Two of the people at our table received their steaks first and it was several minutes before the other 2 plates were served. It is awkward to have half of the table with food while the other half waits. The blueberry sorbet was superb and the creme brulee as well. We enjoyed the quiet ambiance as so many restaurants these days have an echo and are very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation.
Wonderfull as usual.
Food lacked seasoning and was not up to par.
I hate the parking situation, other than that it's great. (valet/far away parking lot)
Brunch at @Sustenio
Service: the service was amazing, our server Trey P was busy but he kept up with all of the tables and was very attentive. Checked on is several times. The other servers cleared plates, the hostess was nice. I spoke to several people in the buffet area, one checked to see if a dish had nuts in it for me. One of the chefs came out to speak to me about the dish. They also went to the back to get desserts for my daughter who was with me. The dessert station had several offerings with nuts, and the serving tongs were being used for all of the desserts, so the very nice chef/kitchen staff made her a plate of nut free items from the back. Same items that were out just not served with the same tongs. I can't thank them enough, so nice!
The food. We tried almost everything. Except they ran out of creme brulee sadly, that is our favorite.
-Prime rib was tender, juicy, very good.
-Poached egg with pulled pork and sweet potato hash with chipotle hollandaise sauce. This was so very good! Not spicy, but very flavorful. The egg was cooked more than soft poached but that's just a result of having them in a warming tray.
-Chicken Fried Quail with poblano cheese grits, rosemary-raspberry marmalade. I could have eaten a whole bowl of those grits, it was hard to get grits because there was just a little in a pile with the quail on top. We liked the quail, but the grits were my favorite part of this dish.
-Beef Bourguigon with house made spaetzle, good and flavorful beef. I'm picky about spaetzle because I make it at home. I like mine a little eggy, but these were good.
-Smoked salmon, oysters, shrimp were good, fresh tasting. Oysters were plump and not dried out.
-Cheeses and Charcuterie had several offerings, my daughter didn't have any because there was nuts throughout the display. What I had was good.
-we had so much more my full review is on Instagram #peasblog
Excellent Sunday Brunch, everything I need and not too much to overwhelm. The $9 bottomless mimosas were delicious too! Will return soon with friends
There were 4 of us and all would say it was one of the top meals we have had! Delicious culinaria restaurant week menu. Everything was really perfect!
Thank you so much for joining us for Culinaria! I am so glad to hear how much your group enjoyed dining with us and we hope to see you again soon! -Erin Bergstrom, Food & Beverage Manager
Nice place. Give it a try. The cocktails are very good.
SA Restaurant week - great way to try out new places. Food and service were great. Relaxed atmosphere and we were not rushed. Great dining experience.
Thank you for joining us for restaurant week! We are glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves!
Celebrated my birthday doing Restaurant Week — prob one of my faves! SO good!
Went for brunch. Buffet food was excellent. We had a late reservation and they ran out of Prime Beef unfortunately. Enjoyed the mimosas. Good selection of both breakfast and lunch items. Boiled shrimp and oysters on the half shell were available, as well as a great salad bar selection.

I took my friend here for a Birthday Brunch! The food was top notch. We were welcomed at the door and made to feel comfortable and special throughout our experience. I’ll definitely be going back. I know my daughter and son-in-law will enjoy it just as much as I did!! Good job Sustinio!
Thank you for celebrating your friend's birthday with us, we're glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves! Hope to see you and your family soon! -Erin Bergstrom, Food & Beverage Manager
Sunday Brunch was fabulous. We arrived at 10 am and were one of the first to fill our plates with three different fruit bowls, huge cocktail shrimp, pastries, sausage, prime rib and made to order eggs. So much more as well and we love Eilan Hotel. This will be a standard plan when company comes to visit. Just Fabulous!
Glad to hear you enjoyed our Sunday Brunch! We love being a part of special family gatherings and would love to host your next one! -Erin Bergstrom, Food & Beverage Manager
I didn't realize that Sustenio doesn't offer a "weekend brunch," it offers a "Sunday brunch." My mistake, with erroneous expectations for Saturday morning. However they do have a "Saturday breakfast buffet." It is challenging to rate the Saturday breakfast buffet: the food is of the highest quality and best taste, but the selection is limited. If you don't like scrambled eggs with bacon bits, you're not having eggs that morning. No yogurt. No granola or cold cereal. It's a good breakfast at a great price, but it's better to come on a Sunday (and you'll need a reservation) for a more expensive but awesome meal.
Food and table service were great. Bartender was very poor. He disappeared a few times while I was trying to order and there were 3-4 others at the bar and no one else in the restaurant/bar. He also up-charged for ice and didn’t disclose upon ordering. He also had a off-putting attitude. When he was questioned about the additional charges he couldn’t provide a understandable answer. No wonder only 4 people were in the bar. I remember going to Sustenio before and it was packed.
We had a really great time with clients for Happy Hour!
My girlfriend and I went out to have breakfast with our friends and used the app to reserve our spot ahead of time, but when we got there it was fairly empty with only a few other families sitting down next to us. We all had the buffet and were treated with an extensive selection of food that went from pancakes with bacon all the way to shrimp and marinated chicken with mashed potatoes. The food was top notch and we all enjoyed how despite there was a large selection, it was also great quality. We all ordered the mimosas as well, which we were surprised to see that they were bottomless for a decent price ($9.00), with our waiter always coming by and refilling then for us. We were very satisfied with the quality of the food and drinks, I would recommend this restaurant for any families or friend groups looking to get together and have great time with some good food.
A very beautiful facility, especially for a nice romantic evening with your significant other. The atmosphere was very classy and relaxing at the same time. The food was not as up to par as I would expect from such an elegant place? I had the fish and it was adequate but not as flavorful as I was expecting? My honey had the filet and I felt I could have cooked a my more flavorful steak at home. The prices were reasonable but I couldn’t help but feel that I would have been willing to pay a little more to get a better quality meal. I will say that we had two bottles of some great Texas wine and the charcuterie board was fantastic. My honey and I agree that we will definitely be back for drinks and appetizers in the future!
Everything was good. I was a little disappointed that it is not the same brunch they serve on Sunday as I brought my husband for a brunch date.
Over priced . A loaded baked potato $7 . We where served 6 asparagus those where also $7. The waitress was nice , not enough waiters or waitress for the amount of tables needed to be served.
We went for breakfast, and we asked for the buffet, but it lack several items, such as yogurt, granola, greens, eggs weren’t tasty.
Good happy hour value but such inattentive service that we were only able to order one round. Restaurant was not very busy either. There was nobody at the hostess stand when we arrived. Couldn’t even flag a server down so that we could pay and go elsewhere so we had to leave cash on the table.
Though there were only 3 tables with people seated, it took several minutes for us to get water and the drink menu. There were 2 people stopping by the table, so there was confusion about who took drink and food orders. Because a server did not come help us when we first sat down, one of the managers came out, and she had a cast around a broken arm. The food was dry (pork and chicken) and the food allergens were not labeled on the menu even though the online version did.
I reserved a table and it was not ready. I was told by the hostess that it would take another 15-20 minutes(???). That never happened to me before. And the restaurant was empty!
We were told that the mimosa was part of the breakfast, but of course they charged for them.
Not good beginning, but I was hoping that the food would impress.
I felt so bad to take my family there. It was super expensive, and food was nothing special.
I thought about going to sustento at some point for dinner. But definitely we will look for another place.
Not coming back!
Excellent restaurant for Sunday brunch. We've eaten there twice now, one for Easter and just today. Each time was fantastic. They probably could have just a tad more options for the kids, but that's being really picky. For the price, it's fantastic! What great service and food, not to mention that it's very nice inside. Highly recommended.
We actually had a great experience a few years ago as we celebrated an anniversary, so on our 30th anniversary we had family in town and decided to try again. Made reservation and noted anniversary celebration. Arrived at restaurant with no hostess or acknowledgement for quite awhile until we started poking our head around looking for someone. Finally a hurried wait staff or kitchen help came to see what we needed. Told him we had a reservation which he seemed to have a hard time finding and seated us. Waitress says she will be with us shortly and takes our drink order for a couple of glasses of wine and an appetizer, but will bring a wine list for the rest of the dinner party. After a good while another waitress shows up and says she is taking over because waitress #1 had a big party. No problem, maybe we will finally get our drinks. She assures us drinks are coming many times but to make a long story short it was 40 minutes to get a glass of wine! In the meantime, first waitress is casually waiting on other tables around us and serving them their second glass of wine. She could have at least served the wine before she dropped us , but still why so long to pour a glass, even with the 2nd waitress. By the way, 2nd waitress very sweet but the ball was dropped somewhere. Not sure what happened. We thought about leaving but already ordered a bottle and appetizer. We stayed to make the best of it, and the good part was the steak and salmon. Kudos to the chef on that. But salad was inedible as it was drowned in dressing and fried green tomatoes disappointed . No manager seemed to be on site. Sorry to say there are too many other restaurants that actually want our business. We didn't feel like that on our special occasion.
Have been here several times before for brunch and I was happy to see that they removed the automatic service charge from the bill. However, I noticed that the chefs at both the omelette and carving stations had tips jars out which I thought was a little tacky for a restaurant of this caliber. Also, the server brought us our bill within 20 minutes of us sitting which made us feel rushed.
All is all food is excellent and the reasonable price for the brunch will keep us returning.
