Had cocktails and appetizer at the bar, great service, drinks and food so we decided to cancel reservations at a nearby restaurant and have dinner here. The place was pretty empty so we had no problem getting a seat. Service was fine, soup was lukewarm, main entree was fine, dessert was the worst I've ever had.
Went back the next day for breakfast with friends, worst service ever, actually got up from the table to find our waiter so we could get some coffee, had to find him a second time to say if food is not ready we have to cancel because we have to leave. Took almost an hour for a simple egg breakfast. They forgot the toast and we had to ask for condiments several times. Recommend eating at one of the many nearby restaurants instead.
It was fantastic! The meal was exquisite! I’m going again on Thursday!
Great food and drinks. Enjoyed lunch special and was able to have nice conversation with friends without having to yell across the table.
Went for brunch and then saw the Smoked Brisket Eggs Benedict and had a total change of direction. Stacked nicely on a fresh fluffy biscuit, a couple of slices of smoked brisket sat beneath two fine poached eggs. Topped with a slightly peppery, dried guajillo hollandaise sauce and accompanied by some nice, simple, skillet fried red country potatoes without rosemary to mar the taste. A great breakfast with no need for a meal until supper. The was a dab of a sweet BBQ sauce on the brisket that I will ask to be left out next time. I enjoyed a tall glass of fresh squeezed OJ with it, but was big time envious of the next table's Bloody Mary's.
Mia was our waitress and she was amazing!!! Had the Red Sangria and it was SO GOOD!
My wife and I have a special place in our hearts for Sustenio. It was the restaurant we ate at after I proposed and now the restaurant we went to on our 1 year anniversary. The service is always fantastic, they sat us with 2 flutes of champagne, and the food was cooked and paired perfectly. I expect that we will come back here every few years for our anniversary AND many other times for just a fun night out.
The food was very tasty. Service was spotty but mostly good. The prices are fairly high. We were shocked when we got the bill and still hungry. Expect “French sized” portions at Paris prices.
Great menu with high end ambiance.
The staff is super attentive yet allows for desired seclusion.
I would give Sustenio and it's chefs Cohen and Alex 11 out of 10 stars.
It was perfect!
Mesmerizing atmosphere and chef-crafted entrees combine for a memorable experience.
We'd heard Sustenio had a brunch buffet so although we'd been there several times for other meals where we were unimpressed, decided to give it one more try. Results this time were so-so. For the most part the food was good; however, there were several issues. While we were there, the bacon was never replenished and what was left in the buffet dish was burnt & greasy. Additionally, the cold shrimp and oysters were not replaced either - so felt like we were getting old food. Additionally, the smoked salmon and charcuterie was almost bare when we got our plates. They also had a beef stir fry with risotto that was not very good - a very odd combination. On the positive side, the prime rib was great and the omelets made to order were also very good. Not much of a salad bar either. The price for the buffet was also extremely high, especially considering that the quality of the food was sub par. We arrived for brunch at 1pm so definitely feel like we weren't at the tail end of service and should have had fresher food that was replenished in a timely manner. We won't be going back to Sustenio again - not sure why they can't work out all the issues with their food but we've tried several times since they've opened to give them a chance, and they have always disappointed.
My wife and I have been many times to Sustenio and have always loved it. In fact, it is one of my wife's favorite restaurants up until this last visit. The food was fantastic as it always is. The service, some of the poorest we have ever received. We've had better service at a fast food restaurant.
Maybe it was a bad night.. not sure if we will be going back.
Excellent food and service. Ambience just so so. They need to work on the atmosphere of the dining area, felt very casual for a high price menu.
The atmosphere of Sustenio is absolutely incredible. We walked in were absolutely blown away of the decor of the place and the design. It's unique in it's own way and is quite beautiful. As far as service goes, Nancy our server was fantastic! She had a large party and also was taking care of 2-3 other tables other than us. Her pace was on point and was really friendly and knowledgeable. Not pushy at all with her sales, and was really helpful.
We started off with the calamari which was absolutely incredible!! We then proceeded with the caesar salad which was a giant piece of romaine with dressing on top. (Not my style, but delicious regardless). We also had the pablano soup. Delicious but pretty spicy!.
We then got the tacos, mac and cheese and scallops... all of which was great!
For dessert we got the coconut tres leeches and the campfire dessert which Nancy recommended. The coconut tres leeches was bland and not what we were expecting. Wouldn't recommend it. The campfire dessert was really cool and unique! Lots of chocolate!
Overall we were very impressed and are coming back for sure!
Food was good but it was loud.
The food was very good, prix fixe menu on Valentine’s Day. Had rez, but got seated early, no problem. I had only two issues, our waitress Nancy was very inattentive, had to ask several times for more tea and sweet-n-lows. It took her 10 mins to pick up the payment after she dropped the check off, and she never asked my wife if she wanted another cocktail. Dirty dishes stayed piled in the corner of our table while she socialized with another table she apparently knew. We discovered why, which brings me to issue two, they added a 23% service charge automatically so there was no reason for her to try. I would have given the minimum 15% if I had the chance. She only had 4 tables, and food runners, so that should /could not be her problem. Go some place else for the price, or make sure you don’t get Nancy on a night the service charge is included.
Lets start. It was a late reservation at 9 pm.
There was a few tables filled and a few people on the bar.
We were a party of 4. We got to the restaurant and there was NO host. After a little wait the waiter showed up and show us the table. We ordered 2 appetizers and where great (Ahi tuna and Charcuterie)(GREAT). We had an awesome wine Joseph Phelps Insignia 2014 (GREAT). Someone else brought the bottle and serve us. After that they never returned to refill our glasses (BAD). By that time there was only 2 other tables and 2 guys in the bat. We ordered our dinner because the waiter told us that Kitchen closes at 10 and of course we ordered. We also got another bottle of wine, the same, and they brought a 2008 (GREAT) this time the waiter came back to refill. Dinner was ok, nothing great like the appetizers but the VERY BAD thing was that after the 2 guys left the bar the waiter told us that they were closes and brought us the check. For sure we will not return for dinner. Maybe for appetizers and at the bar. If you want to spend $150 to $200 per person go some place else.
Salmon & succotash was out of this world!
Food executed flawlessly. Fish, venison, lamb all cooked perfectly. Service was crisp and professional. Restaurant was not that crowded on a Saturday night. We felt like we had our own personal kitchen and staff. Campfire dessert was really inventive and very tasty! All-in-all a great find!
Went for dinner with friends. The service was slow, the food was terrible. Two of us had their brisket special. It was dry and tasteless. The salad had very little dressing. Drinks were very expensive. The one saving grace was the wine we ordered. What makes it all the more unacceptable was that the dinner was terribly expensive. Too many other good restaurants in San Antonio to ever go back.
Staff was nice but service was very slow. Could not get writer's attention even when waiving in his direction. I eventually had to flag another waiter to get him. There was a misunderstanding with our order and mine came out wrong (gave me pompano soup with no crab though it was only my husband who is allergic). His entree then came out about 10 mins before mine even though we ordered the exact same thing. Server (not our own) stated he was told to bring first one out at that time as the second would be following shortly. Manager later apologized stating he misunderstood.
great food and staff top notch. Food selection is very good.
Mike was a great waiter - very perceptive and attentive.
Excellent lunch during restaurant Week in San Antonio. The only let down was the dessert, but starter and main were excellent.
Went for my birthday. Rebekah (Bekah) was our waitress and she was outstanding. My meal was not hot but she took it back and got me a fresh, hot replacement. It was incredible - some of the best scallops I’ve ever had. My husband ordered the halibut and although his wasn’t that hot he doesn’t mind. I’m the fussy one. Hot food should be served on hot plates!! I was offered a free dessert and ordered the pecan bread pudding. It was very dry and tough - I shouldn’t complain because it was complimentary butvfeel I should be honest. And they made good on the cold food. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back.
We went for restaurant week, had an amazing lunch. Our sever was excellent. Can’t wait to go back!
This was our second time, and this time we brought friends, everything was fantastic!!
Great overall experience. Our server, Mia, was awesome. Ambience was great along with the food. I will definitely go back.
Great food with some very interesting flavor combinations. So much fun.
They husband and I had an excellent experience at the restaurant. Hats off to Nancy, our waitress and the wonderful service she provided. The food was delicious and we will be back for certain.
Adonis was great as usual!
This was a buffet style breakfast. The food looked and tasted old. The waiter was slow and did not discuss the offerings. Unfortunately, we will not return.
Could maybe expand food menu. Atmosphere was great. Quite and romantic. Prices are normal for meals offered. Service was excellent. Just the correct amount of attention.
Food was very good and value was good compared to other “fancy” restaurants where the food isn’t that good but you pay so much for very little just because it looks pretty. Staff was very courteous and helpful.
Everyone was so nice to us and we were a large party of 14. They really took care of everyone.
Good food, great service. Our medium rare steaks were closer to medium but still very tasty. We would definitely go back.
Always a great bite to eat! This is a great place to have some drinks and relax. Low lighting at night also sets the meal right and comfortable.
Wine by the glass was not fresh. Maybe put a date on the bottle when opened would help. No body that I know likes two day old wine.
Valet never showed up. Food was not good. Hostess disappeared
Nancy was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The venue is very nice and we definitely will be back
Great food. Great service.
