Was a commercial fisherman for 5 years, so I know what fresh fish is and Sushi Ota has the freshest fish around and is hands down the best sushi in San Diego

Excellent Sushi as always, molted Soft Shell crab in season excellent, seaweed salad delicate and appetizing. Waitress so calm, well spoken, and informative.

Consistently one of the best (if not the best) sushi restaurants in San Diego - never disappoints. Always a fresh selection of fishes/seafood to choose from (especially uni), with high quality and generous cuts. Seating can be a bit tight and reservations are a must, but the staff are accommodating, drink selection is solid, and the food makes it all worth it. 11/10, would recommend.

The food and service were outstanding per usual. It’s the best sushi outside of Japan. My only complaint was that a young couple brought their toddler to dinner and the child proceeded to scream throughout the meal, making it nearly impossible to have a conversation. It was so unsettling and ruined the ambiance of the restaurant. I wish staff had asked them to step outside with their child.
